Yes, and the even more interesting thing is the way the votes trend. Those who cared for Jalal, his majesty, his achievements, and for Rajat, seem to have faded away. If this continues, as Ekta's Jodha gets worse and worse and I get more and more irritated with her and critical of her doings, I suspect that I shall be spending 80% of my time explaining my stand on Jodha over and over again. And in the end I shall tire of this Sisyphean exercise and quit.

As it is , these posts at times feel like homework, when all I can think about is my stiff fingers and my hurting knee and feet! And I cannot explain to myself what I am doing here rehashing the old stuff!

You are wrong in thinking that there is a balanced view now which will start tilting. There never was a balanced view in this script between Jalal and Jodha. Ekta's heroines are all the same, endowed with a large 24 carat halo, can never be wrong, mahaanatam, and ready to deliver uplifting bhashans at the drop of a hat. Yes, and self-righteous in the extreme, and self-satisfied too, and no wonder seeing the chorus of unreserved hosannas by which they are surrounded. So whether it is the Archana and Purvi of Pavitra Rishta or the Jodha of this show, there is very little difference. So we begin here, and end up with Abul Fazl being shown saying that Akbar had been saved time and again by Jodha Begum, and Jalal duly presses her feet! Ugh...

This thread has become interesting - Views and Counter Views - I will catch it all.

But these are the episodes from where the story started tilting from a balanced view of objective story telling to mahantaa highlighting.
Every single episode from now on puts a halo around Jodha mata. Until it comes to a stage where last episode Jalal has nothing to do except pressing the feet of Jodha, I mean literally. 😆
What a fall !!!!

You are very kind, Donjas, and I do appreciate the trouble you are taking over this. I shall look into this soon, but right now, I am rather depressed and all I can think about it whether and when my hands and feet and my hurting knee are going to get worse. There are so many exercises to be done and massages and hot and cold treatments, it is endless.

Doing these Jodha Akbar posts comes only a distant second, and you will understand why. At times they have begun feeling like homework, the posts and then all the responses to be acknowledged and replied to. It takes a lot of time and effort and I feel very tired of it all at times, and I begin to wonder why I got sucked into repeating these analyses that I had done once already. .

Give me some time to come to terms with my rheumatoid arthritis, and I shall then explore these links.
But thanks a ton again.

I believe the stage when Jodha is all about bhashans and Mahaanta has not been reached. When Jodha does it, when credit is taken for Jalal's achievements and unfairly given to Jodha, when Jalal stops behaving like an Emperor and more like a henpecked husband, that is when the downtrend in the serial begins.

But right now it is all about a brave woman not bending down to Jalal's will. I like it.

I think, secretly you like it too. So many contrasting opinions means better arguments. After all you did not start this series for people to pay homage to your views. I think you want people to be inspired by your wonderful writing and feel free to express themselves here.

Akka - May be there never was - You are right. But at least in terms of posturing and remembering to give a POV from Akbar's side, there was self-talk, some good scenes. And Jalal did think on his own. And he did not get obsessed with running 24x7 around harem. He used to have some good political and authority scenes.
But once Maata descends in Agra, entire galaxy starts revolving around her. There is no other POV in story telling. Knowing what is to come, and the avatar of submissive rotlu and buddhu Akbar to follow, I am unable to relish the scenes.
Prem Kahani got killed by this mahanta glow 98% and whatever else was left out by bad acting.
But I am enjoying the writing that you do and the counter views.

My dear Adiana,

Ekta's Jodha has absolutely no qualms about asking Jalal for anything she wants, and she does not understand the meaning of quid pro quo at all.

Later, she uses the rank of a Shahi Begum unhesitatingly to further her projects, and she is convinced that she can enjoy all the privileges of being a Shahi Begum even while keeping the man because of whom she has this position at arm's length indefinitely. And the worst is that she manages it too, thanks to Jalal having by then become a poodle of hers.

This apart, I found the way in which she constantly suspects Jalal of having designs on her "virtue" quite appalling. It reduces their relationship, from her side, to the purely physical, or rather the absence of the physical, which is a tauheen of any relationship.

Didn't she know such a situation would arise and then what face would she have to ask Jalal that which she couldn't do herself. And this is my grouse with this Jodha. As you say, she talks big and she wants from others that which she is not ready to do herself. And she doesn't have vision. Warna she would know that there would come a time when she would need her husband's help in keeping up a happy facade for her family.

I hate it when women are portrayed so and then are further dubbed as being strong. There is no strength in foolishness.

My poor Sri,

With rheumatoid arthritis, there is no getting back one's health, it is only a struggle to keep your condition from getting worse. I shall stop writing when it becomes too much to write these posts and respond to all the comments. It is time consuming and very tiring.

Brilliant 👏- What a tearing apart of the entire story line and treatment by the CVs in three little sentences ⭐️. That posturing of her was insulting to her own femininity and personality. Or rather she was the one who was obsessed about it and not the other party. 😆😉

Dear Donjas,

You have always been very kind about my writing, but if you were to ask me why I am doing this series of posts about episodes that I have already analysed 2 years ago, I would not know the answer. First, it was because Mandy asked me to do a series on Rajat's Jalal, and then you got me to come here. But then I did not know that I was going to be diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I have been unwell for one reason or another since last November, but it was, even my TKR, never as bad nor as open-ended as this.

It is not easy for me to get up the will, the desire to do these posts and then respond to all the comments. No, I do not write them for getting uncritical appreciation. Contrary opinions are fine and stimulating, yes, but they also mean far more work for me . Two years ago, or even last year, I would have enjoyed the cut and thrust of the debates far more than I do now, in October 2015.

As I said, let me see how things go with me after the first month or so of treatment, and I shall then take a call on what I should do about these posts. I shall continue with them for as long as I can, but I have to take care of my mother, who is in her late eighties and is a cardiac patient, so I am more worried about my hands and my mobility than about Jodha Akbar.

I am very glad that you liked this one.

As for apni Jodha, I knew what you were going to write even before you wrote it! I still remember our long debates about Jodha 2 years ago which never came to any mutually acceptable conclusion, and no wonder, for our views on the matter were poles apart!

I am exhausted from explaining my take on this Jodha, and you have every right to have yours. So let us just agree to disagree, shall we? I must warn you, however, that as we proceed, I shall become more and more exasperated and irritated with Ekta's mahaan Jodha who can never be wrong, and there will come a time when you will not like my posts at all. And if the tribe of Jodha defenders here becomes the majority, I shall just stop writing, for it is no point being out of sync with the bulk of your readers. Let me see if it comes to that, and when. As it is, these posts at times feel like homework, with my fingers protesting loudly!

Shyamala

Shyamala...kya hua? Why will you stop writing? Just becoz majority of readers view differs from urs? ...Personally I feel u have every right to put ur views as we have...aur tum explain hi kyon kar rahi hoo jodha ke baare mein apni views? ...Tumne apni baat likhi aur humne apni baat...aur baat khatam hui...Cheer up...

And I know Jo 's character will become very unrealistic later on( main bhi digest nahi kar paongi) ..lekin abhi toh nahi hai na...Enjoy it yaar...
