What a relief to find your comments, with which I can generally agree in toto, thus obviating the need for supplementary comments! My poor fingers hereby give you a heartfelt vote of thanks for that!
These days, my second round of comments seems largely devoted to defending my takes on Jodha. This is a problem that bids fair to get worse as we proceed, and I might well end up in a minority of two with only Adiana for company!
Why, here even you have said, to my great surprise, that
I didn't find Jodha particularly disdainful. Her stand-off attitude could also be identified as the shyness and fear that a new bride has in an alien atmosphere. It wasn't all that disrespectful to Jalal considering what was to come in future.
Your last sentence might well be true, but as for the rest, I cannot buy it at all. A shy bride keeps her eyes lowered. She does not keep her nose elevated in the air as soon as her husband appears, as if he was a bad smell. Nor does she keep this up right thru the cultural performance at which all those present were smiling in appreciation.
Jodha's behaviour was graceless and undignified, and it must have disappointed Hamida above all, which is why, though she must have disapproved strongly of what Jalal did in making Jodha sing in the assembly, she did not come near her at all at the end to console her, but left.

Couldn't resist... Today Jalal gave Jodha the impenetrable irrefutable iron clad zubaan that he will not touch her.🤣 Yes, but it was a sui generis commitment, not tied to her wanting him to touch her, which is what it miraculously became over time!😉
