Oh Aunty that was a delight,now they only changed rukiya to make jodha look mahan,with innocent look of amiley i dont think she could have carried such evilness of reel rukiya,wese i liked rukiya 2 because she can act and she looked like areal mughal shehzaadi,

Since I thought that my message was "one -to-one" I sent to you in the pm .

I do not have an o/c of the message and hence I have to recollect everything and write here.

I am a great admirer of your write ups in this forum as well as the other one (dhwani). Though I am a long time member of the IF (though only a silent one ) I used to write my comments occasionally for a few Tamil serials in the forum. In the process I accidently stumbled on the dubbed version of the JA serial in Zee Tamil. My problem is that I cannot understand Hindi language, particularly the Uruduised one.But the tamil dubbing was so horrible and the modulation and pronunciation of the dialogues by the dubbing artistes were so terrible, I decided to switch over to watching the Hindi version with the help of the updates of the episodes in the IF.

While doing so I had the privilege of going through some of the wonderful analyses of some members of the forum.

Shyamala, I had already gone through your articles a no. of times so far, and each time I was able to understand/discover a new dimension to the episodes - either in the presentation or performance of the artistes.

For example, your mention about the change in the facial expression and the body language of Jalal / Rajat in the scene where he was told about the execution of Thakhatmal by BK,- I did not notice this feature when I watched the episode for the first time, and I am sure that many viewers would have also done the same.So also with the episode "The Emperor strikes Back". Your analyses have further polished the already beautiful early episodes.

You have mentioned that you do not find many takers for your humour element in your in depth analyses of the episodes.But the reason why I have taken a fancy for your writings is only for the metaphorical language you use and the humourous comparison of the characters.

No one else other than you could describe Jalal's expression on seeing Jodha when she enters the DEK in Moghul attire (epi 150) as a school boy gaping at the sweet meat shop. When I watched it again after reading your analysis, I was surprised to see how aptly your description fitted the sequence.So also your comparison of Jalal and Jodha's exchange of thoughts at her death bed (?) at the end of Benazir track (epi 167) to a tennis match, and your description about the Hakim sahibha ("I will definitely not have her as my doc even if I am offered one lakh rupees!") ...They were all unique and inimitable!

To sum up I can say that any student aspiring to become a doctorate can do research in your analytical writings of JA!

From the above post it is obvious that you write very well. Your comments will be welcomed by many on this forum. As for problems in understanding Hindi, you already know, one thorough read of Shymala's post and you will not only know what the characters are saying, but also what they are thinking and feeling.

As my first ever Akka, you are already special. And your absolutely meticulous, not just reading of my posts, but recall of the odd comments I made there makes you even more special. So here is a big hug to welcome you to my virtual family, which teems with obstreperous and extremely mischievous nieces, and some younger sisters, and now you, my one and only Akka!🤗

As you might have guessed, I am Tamil too, the B in my name standing for Balasubramanian. My married name had one merit, it is shorter!😉 I was born in Pudukkottai, near Trichy, and have lived 38 years of my life, my whole professional life as an Indian diplomat, trotting across the globe, for the powers that be move you roughly every 3 years. Now, after retirement, I live in Pune, near Mumbai. I note that you are Sydney-based.

I realise, after reading your account of how you came to the original version of Jodha Akbar and how you coped with the language barrier, that there is surely something special about this show. Kuch to hai, and it is not just Rajat, though he is about 80% of the pull quotient, or Jodha when she is not being mahaan and is looking like an ambulant sunflower.

And it is not just you, but me too! It is a soap all right, but for almost half its length, it was a regal soap. Then we were left with only the grimy suds!😡 Still, I watched it almost without break to the end, bar the mirchi war, the chudail, and the whole of the British traders segments. If you asked me, after about Episode 250, why I was hanging in there, I would not have had any cogent answer!

I am flattered and touched that you remember the comparison of Jalal looking at Jodha in a Mughal costume (which is not at all flattering to her, if truth be told; she looks her best in Rajput costumes with a lot of chakmak jewellery) to a little boy with his nose pressed against the window of a sweet shop, or the tennis match one for the time when Jalal is trying desperately to hold Jodha's spirit back.

But did you notice the one in this post that reads as follows? :

In fact, Jalal's whole stance, while she is taking aim, is that of the weary patience of a husband forced to accompany his wife on a shopping trip.😉

It occurred to me, not when I was writing the post the first time, but when I went back to check on something else. I looked at Jalal, sitting lethargically on the horse, totally detached from Ruqaiya and her aim, and it was as if he was thinking When will this woman get done, so that we can get a move on??

I laughed at it myself, and now Sandhya is asking me what I had to drink before I started writing the post! She will be disappointed when I tell her that it was only water!😉

As for your very kind comments on my writing, I thank you most warmly. Even an amateur writer like me can never get too much of praise!!
