Thank you, my dear Amina! I am very pleased that you enjoyed this one so much. I see that we are of one mind as to why they changed Ruqaiya.

As for Ruqaiya 2's acting abilities, we must agree to disagree. As I had noted in the post, she reminds me of no one so much as Katrina Kaif!😉 But I am happy to concede that she does look like a princess, that is, till she opens her mouth. Ruqaiya 1 looked every inch the Padshahi Begum.

My dear Donjas,

That is very, very kind of you! I am flattered beyond measure, but then again, which writer, amateur or professional, can ever have too much of genuine, warm praise? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

From the above post it is obvious that you write very well. Your comments will be welcomed by many on this forum. As for problems in understanding Hindi, you already know, one thorough read of Shymala's post and you will not only know what the characters are saying, but also what they are thinking and feeling.

Dear Shyamala,
Thank you for your response.
Since I thought that my message was "one -to-one" I sent to you in the pm .
I do not have an o/c of the message and hence I have to recollect everything and write here.
I am a great admirer of your write ups in this forum as well as the other one (dhwani). Though I am a long time member of the IF (though only a silent one ) I used to write my comments occasionally for a few Tamil serials in the forum. In the process I accidently stumbled on the dubbed version of the JA serial in Zee Tamil. My problem is that I cannot understand Hindi language, particularly the Uruduised one.But the tamil dubbing was so horrible and the modulation and pronunciation of the dialogues by the dubbing artistes were so terrible, I decided to switch over to watching the Hindi version with the help of the updates of the episodes in the IF.
While doing so I had the privilege of going through some of the wonderful analyses of some members of the forum.
Shyamala, I had already gone through your articles a no. of times so far, and each time I was able to understand/discover a new dimension to the episodes - either in the presentation or performance of the artistes.
For example, your mention about the change in the facial expression and the body language of Jalal / Rajat in the scene where he was told about the execution of Thakhatmal by BK,- I did not notice this feature when I watched the episode for the first time, and I am sure that many viewers would have also done the same.So also with the episode "The Emperor strikes Back". Your analyses have further polished the already beautiful early episodes.
You have mentioned that you do not find many takers for your humour element in your in depth analyses of the episodes. But the reason why I have taken a fancy for your writings is only for the metaphorical language you use and the humourous comparison of the characters.
No one else other than you could describe Jalal's expression on seeing Jodha when she enters the DEK in Moghul attire (epi 150) as a school boy gaping at the sweet meat shop. When I watched it again after reading your analysis, I was surprised to see how aptly your description fitted the sequence. So also your comparison of Jalal and Jodha's exchange of thoughts at her death bed (?) at the end of Benazir track (epi 167) to a tennis match, and your description about the Hakim sahibha ("I will definitely not have her as my doc even if I am offered one lakh rupees!") ...They were all unique and inimitable!
To sum up I can say that any student aspiring to become a doctorate can do research in your analytical writings of JA!

PS: Contrary to what the i/d suggests, my hair is fully grey and not curly.

Don't worry, my poppets! Today being Vinayaka Chaturthi, I am in an extra benevolent mood and I forgive Khushi all her trespasses. Plus, I have only one belan, and if you hide it, you imp, hamara kya hoga?😉

Sri, you are getting a special reprieve as well!😉

Well, my pet, as usual, you get distinction marks. I have never seen you fall below that level!

My comments in blue, as always. It is really considerate of you to use violet for yours!😉

My poor child, don't look at these comments as if they were homework to be completed! Do them only when you have the time and enjoy doing them. Otherwise it is I who will feel guilty!

Seeing the ID i was reminded of Poonguzhali in Ponniyin Selvan. That was one of the most charming characters envisaged by a writer. Such spirit! Such dare! Yet such a softness of feelings ( i loved her more than all other female characters including Kundavai). That was exactly how i hoped Jodha to be, and perhaps she was for sometime in the beginning though with added royalty. But then she fell into the mahaanta mould that befits a soap heroine with her 24 carat hefty halo firm in place.🤢

I differ with you Sandhya.
Poonguzhali was a strong girl having high ambitions in life . She hated the Emperor for abandoning her aunt Mandakini Devi, but at the same time she could not resist her attraction towards the Prince Arulmozhithevar. I dont find her soft as can be seen by her treatment of Senthan Amudhan in the beginning, and finally agreeing to marry him and become a Queen.
By the way, Senthan Amudhan was known in the history as Madhuranthaka Cholan and ruled the Chola Empire but I think Poonguzhali is a fictitious character.
I will write about the development of Jodha's character in the serial separately.

Saraswathi.

It was predicted that she would be a queen and she didn't want to break Sendhan Amudhan's heart perhaps. She lived in her fairy tale world and was waiting for her Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet, and ArulMozhi was the most eligible bachelor and the prince who was the desire of every girl of the time. But Poonguzhali was no royal and yet won the attention of the Prince and could offer Vandiyathevan a match to his witty and daring self. She could laugh at his pompous bravado and vanity and had the guts and gumption to lead life her style. She was a mixture of the strange and sweet.

Finally she was sensitive enough to understand Vanathi's love for thePrince and Sendhan Amudhan's love for her. Though i have always felt that Vanathi never impressed Arulmozhi the way Poonguzhali did.

Oh! Why doesn't a PH try to serialise the book!

Yes. Poonguzhali and Nandini were fictitious.

Unlike the stories of Ashoka and Akbar PS has a pre defined story. Like the Mahabharat. So there is no scope of heroine mahaanta or the usual sbs stuff. The recent Star Plus of Mahabharat was very good ( though i started watching it quite late...since war preps...then watched select episodes on net). May be someone with that much capacity or more could take it up. The story offers immense potential for intrigue charm and interest.
