Abhay,
Thanks for the reply. I am not worried about Akbar's legacy. He has had a great run of 400 years of prominence. Stalwart figures in Indian history like Swami Vivekandanda, C Rajagopalachari, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Rabindra Nath Tagore and more idolized him. The last words the British Governer General Lord Mountbatten said in India was the appeal to Pakistani leaders to follow Akbar's example.
So, now if Akbar has a few lean years, so be it. Let him rest in peace. The Indian mentality of pluralism and toleration that great kings like Ashoka espoused makes it certain that Akbar will once again come to the center stage.
So, enough about Akbar, it is the serial which is depressing. What the hell is Ekta trying to do? What was the purpose of the leap? Is Salim the second lead or the new villain? If he is the villain, then why show him as a hero in the war with Mirza? Even if he is a villain why is Salim shown so bad? Can't Ekta see that if a person falls too much he cannot be resurrected, viewers remember.
Has Ekta learned no lessons from the ratings debacle? Viewers don't care about the other characters of the Mughal family, it is Jodha Akbar they want. Then why are being force fed this new saga of brothers squabbling? Who in his right mind wants to watch this, especially if the actors portraying it are very ordinary. Can't Ekta see this, does she not realize that you cannot make donkeys into race horses. The guy placing Murad is OK, so is Anarkali, but the rest don't have the regal screen presence or the acting chops to portray their characters plausibly.
Also what the hell is happening with historical timeline or is there any relevance to historical events. The strategy being shown in the serial against Persia was never followed, the name Iran did not even exist then, it came about only after the Islamic Revolution. And now Mirza Hakim is an ally? Am I going crazy? And what about Ruqaiya? All sweet and charming in the previous track and now, abruptly a devil incarnate. What a switch in personality.
And where is all this leading to. I really don't know.
Donjas,
My views on Akbar are same. There are enough sites / 'texts' which keep blabbering nonsense about Akbar,
still Akbar is revered for his bold steps and reforms, and will always be.
Coming to the show. Let me tell what i know.
I
may be wrong but i am writing what i got to know.
From what i know, the plan was not to show anything like this after the leap. The PH
or the channel was confident that
only a Love story will work , and so they decided to show the Love Story of Salim with Anarkali and later with Nur Jahan.
After the debacle in ratings, and when they got to know about SA being a flop show ; they changed the tracks, and instantaneously went back to JA. But, since the leap was already taken, hence they could not correct the folly asap. SA was already there and it was needed to be ended
slowly. Though, i agree, this is TOO SLOW a process, now.
And due to this reason, an 'implicit' back-leap was taken to show events from life of Akbar, so a sort of mess has been created. Even i wrote in present update , where is the show heading as per timelines ????? I share same frustration as yours.!
About the present track of this Persian ruler, we know this SHOULD HAVE BEEN about the Mazhar of Sheikh Mubarak and Akbar, which they issued before Din e Illahi. But this simple and remarkable reform has been lapped up with the present Salim crisis. Infact, this should have been shown in the God Track only, before war with Mirza Hakim, as mentioned in God Track update.! It was not exclusive Shah-i-Iran track, but should have included Khalifa and Indian Ulemas also - all 3..
We know Khalifa is Sunni authority, makers are showing this Shah-i-Iran deliberately to be too powerful, infact more powerful than Khalifa.!! They were rivals and here we are watching them as friends ?!!! I also pointed this issue in an old update.

Jodha Akbar 7th April 2015...Tale of Natkiya RupanterS. :-P Excerpts from this link ::
""
How on earth the Khalifa became a friend of Shah i Iran (Ottomans and Safavids) ????!!!!.
They both were rivals and Akbar (REAL) had to deal with both..But in show they are appearing as friends(M i right?)..
Also, another blunder...
Right now, Akbar has planned to deal with Abdulla Khan Uzbek of Uzbekistan..
So he is sending a embassy there...
Honestly, i was fuming thinking about who is writing this story...The writer of JA messed it all. Read the link, if interested. Reality was so interesting but tough to be understood. I was fearing the same, thinking about the understanding of our writers. And today was a nightmare for me. Empires which were enemies of each other in reality were made friends here... ""
What more to say about historical timeline Donjas.
I thought and thought a lot, and went crazy thinking about it. Mirza Hakim was defeated in 1580-81. That track is completed in our show in God Track. And we know, Mirza Hakim NEVER became an ally of Akbar after the war, instead Akbar gave the throne of Kabul to Mirza's sister. But here he has become another ally of Akbar.!!!!!.
Funny thing is that, now the track after Mirza Hakim's defeat is again going back in time, because Mazhar / Infallibility Decree was a result of the work done by Sheikh Mubarak
before the war with Mirza Hakim.
Now, among all these NR's of the writer, i found myself, wrecking my brains in vain, when i tried deciphering the timelines / logic of the show. I am controlling myself, and posting updates in hope of end of SA. Otherwise i feel like blasting the writerS for this mess. Many others are doing the same.
