Akdha scene was beautiful. I don't know what CV's want to prove by showing a Sanar scene right after Akdhas, it just brings about how bad the Sanar scenes are in comparison to Akdhas. No proper emotions, no connect with audiences.

Coming to the DEK scene, I'm happy Salim just took the punishment. My question being what happens in that Brain of Salim's where he is ready to pour out all his emotions to Anarkali, and has nothing good to say to his parents? I am at least okay that he is cheesed off with Jalal, their relations have never been amazing, but what has Jodha ever done. She is constantly going to him with food, kind words, love even when he has been an absolutely wrong. The fact that he has no trust at all on his parents is what irks me the most.

Murad is being irritating!! Everyone is telling Murad that he is wrong in making it an issue (he is wrong) But does not mean no one goes to Salim and tells him that he is wrong too, his reason for slapping Murad was not a very liable one.

Why cant Jalal just go speak to Murad already? Is he waiting for some Shub Muhurat? Time is of essence, and all they show him do is think about how he will talk to Murad.

Aadhya,

I am finding it tough to answer such logical posts because CV's have hardly left any logic in the present track where MU's are deliberately being created..Appreciate your well written post. :)

No issues in transferrring the discussions to this thread. :D

Oh Thanks Abhay, I really did miss them out. 😆

Logic left JA a long time ago, now all that we can hope that they are making Salim so intolerable with the aim of getting rid of the Sanar angle from the show. A lot is riding on that extra 10 minutes, the audiences are so fed up of them that even if they give that 10 minutes to Sanar to finish off their track, it might end up in heavy losses in TRP's.

Writing again.

This is an ode / an elegy to a relationship that died on Friday - that of Jodha-Salim. May it at least RIP. 😕

Ode to the Jodha-Salim Relationship That Finally Breathed Its Last on Friday -

May God give peace to its soul

This relationship had always been stunted like a Bonsai plant and never allowed to reach its full stature by the grace of that cupola of chastity - Ruqaiyya Sultan Begum.

Ever since Salim was born to Jodha, after many prayers and a lot of heartache, I watched and hoped to see a beautiful bond such as can exist only between a mother and a much-awaited son. Alas, that day never came even once in all these months and now it can never come as the relationship is dead and buried.

For a very brief while in the beginning, we saw Jodha playing with a 5-year old Salim who was all heart like his mother and for whom his mother was his entire universe. Her choice was his choice. Now all that seems like a dream. 😕
Very soon, the son was snatched from his mother, turned into an addict, sent away, and always kept in fear of his father and his punishment. He was never allowed to have a normal relationship with his parents and his heart was filled with unbelievable hatred and a paranoid suspicion of his father's actions / intentions. He became (or may soon become) schizophrenic.

The son may have reasons to have become the way he is due to shortcomings in his parenting. I do sympathize with him. But still to see him insulting his parents publicly, branding their marriage as illegitimate and accusing them of plotting against him is unbearable, episode after episode.

Still, the saving grace was that at least till recently Salim was controlling himself a bit in front of his mother and was not in favor of her conversion.

On Friday, even this last vestige of respect was shred to pieces when Salim accused his mother of thwarting his succession by not converting to Islam.

A man who was as religiously tolerant as his father and for whom his mother was a person to be venerated with sajda is being shown to have no respect either for her or for her right to practise her faith is simply disgusting.

For him, it is merely sufficient to become the next king - his mother's core identity and the ripple effect of her conversion on the non-muslim awaam holds no meaning. His father's authority and vision for his empire never held any meaning for him anyway.

I wholly understand Salim's angst and his confused state of being due to his troubled past. But to totally negate his parents's identity, their principles, their responsibility towards the empire just to satiate his ambition is SHOCKING and UNACCEPTABLE.

If I were in Jodha's place, I could bear anything. The rudeness, the tantrums, the stubbornness to listen to reason. I could still show forbearance and patience. But there is a core identity that defines a person and no one, not even a child, has the right to question that identity or ask me to change it to satisfy his whims. No one, not even a child, or especially a child, has the right to question the sanctity of my marriage or his birth.

I would still maintain a relationship with my child as much as possible. But for me, such a relationship would be as good as dead. It would be merely a formal relationship, just because I had given birth to the child. But it would not have any emotional meaning or soul.

The Panchtantra says:--

Of sons unborn, dead or fools,
Unborn or dead will do.
They cause a little grief, no doubt;
But fools a long life through.

Why beget a son
Who proves a dunce and disobedient?

I really do not have the heart to write about the rest of the episode, Abhay. Something snapped inside me yesterday after that scene.

And really what else is there to write about? Jodha crying and pleading with husband and son, neither of whom is willing to listen to her or bend a little - is just too much to bear. She started out well enough by questioning her husband but ended up whimpering in his arms. Why, Jodha, why? She could not bring herself to knock some sense into her son, while he was talking most inappropriately. Why Jodha, why?

I hate to see Jodha suffering and bearing the brunt of 2 fools in her life. The sad part is that I know and you know, just how intelligent and dignified these people were.

I don't simply want SA to end. I want JA to end and asap. I don't want to see a JA where Jodha is always suffering and Jalal is always making a mess of things in the name of siyasat.

Please CVs, bring down the curtains now on this show.

Well said Radhika...I too after Friday was let down...Thank goodness Salim JO confrontation was at the end. I hope On Monday Jodha talks to her son firmly. I am not expecting a slap and all, but she need to talk firmly now. Its time for that..

@blue: I agree with you. I would do the same only..

The present government came to power in it's appeal for inclusive growth, economic development and because people were fed up with corruption scandals in the previous government. But now many fringe elements have come into the open using this opportunity. Hope sanity prevails soon.

Anyway, coming to the serial. Have you ever seen an animal caught in a steel trap. I saw a documentary once and believe me when I tell you that it is horrific to watch. At that moment, I wanted the animal to die, to be free of suffering.

Too much damage has been done to the serial. Ekta has learned no lesson, from the logic of the episodes it is obvious that CV's have not been changed. At this moment, it will be an act of mercy if the serial ends. Every moment more that Rajat and Paridji spend in this serial diminishes the legacy of Jodha and Akbar. It sours the wonderful memories that the duo created in the early episodes.

Donjas,

Taj issue is an old one, starting decades back. I read about the appeal and i think all these things are publicity stunts. So, I ignored this "news". But, i do not think, this is related only to the present govt. Because an appeal was filed in 2005 also, but that time it was UPA-1 / Congress in power.

Last year Azam Khan also made a statement that Taj belongs to Waqf Board and so it should be handled to them. Then, in "retaliation", a statement was made by 'another' politician. Anyways, i am sure MODs won't allow the discussion on this topic here. Though, we can continue on historical sticky thread. :)

Coming back to the show, a part in me wants this to end. And a part in me still wants it to continue and is hopeful of some damage control after end of SA. Though, I am not able to understand the swinging approach of makers but i have been told JA is not going to end, at present, they will still try. Actually, it depends more on the writer who pens the story line and i do not understand the fascination for SA and Ruqs. Let us see..

Agreed this temple claim is an old issue. The Supreme Court has already dismissed a similar petition in 2000. But Love Jihad, the temple issue, Hemu Convention and the Rajasthan issue all together unnerves me. The problem is that most people in present government are concerned with economic development and progress for all, but some fringe elements with very loose affiliation to the ruling party are using this opportunity to spread their sectarian agenda and incite hatred.

For the serial to survive some things are needed-
1 The CV's need to be changed right away. But it is obvious from the recent episodes that this has not happened. Ekta can do it if she wants, after all how hard can it be to replace a bunch of inept hacks. But she does not want it.

2 One should be willing to learn from mistakes. Ekta made a blunder with the leap, but the pathetic ratings made it obvious to all that you cannot force feed your own agenda to viewers. They will watch what they like and simply switch channels for the rest. I thought Ekta had understood this, she gave us two weeks of Jodha Akbar, the ratings did not improve immediately so she gave up and is back to Salim Anarkali, Haidar, Murad and all the rest of the post leap scene.

3 You cannot have negativity all the time. Ruqs has done all sorts of vile deeds and has not been punished once. Moreover, our lead duo are so clueless in front of this woman that it boggles the imagination. Why is Ruq so important to Ekta and the CV? What is so special about her vileness that some other villain cannot do. And why this pendulum like change in her behavior from one episode to the next.

4 This is a historical serial and there should be some correlation with history. Things like Akbar being whipped, or Jodha on the verge of being raped or a step mom feeding Opium to her son while everyone else is oblivious. All of this leaves a bad taste in the mouth. And what about the present track, why distort history about Akbar's dealing with Persia when it is already so interesting and needs no Natkiya Rupantar.

All the above and other problems are small issues that Ekta can solve in one day if she wants. But she does not care. Why should we?

I wish some hardy soul could collate all the Jodha Akbar scenes of the day and post it online for all. To go through the entire episode to reach the good parts is an endeavor that I feel less inclined to do.

They are failing miserably in projecting 16th century parent/child relationship to the 21st century viewers.😒 Like Abhay has so aptly pointed out before, in one of his discussions, the real Salim wouldn't have dared to open his mouth in Akbar's presence either in 'Diwaan-e-aam' or 'Diwaan-e-khass'. Had he even attempted to, he would have been rendered speechless for the rest of his life. As far as I know, the protocol followed during those days was on a different level altogether, not what we get to see in JA. This is EK's version of royal Mughal protocol.😡

Yes, the CV's seem to totally forget that they are portraying an era that was very different from ours, when it comes to both social and political views. In The Bela track, they showed Anarkali sauntering around with 'Qutub', late in the night, he visited her house at mid-night and met up with her. Such attitude continues to be inappropriate even today, let alone 400 years ago.

And they fail to realize, that children also tended to become mature faster at that time, because education and marriage happened much faster. By the age of 16, people were eligible to get married and have children of their own.

Very well said Aadhya.

Both your examples are right.

I am hoping to see a proper closure to this Salim /Jalal/Jodha drama that has now become unbearable.

Along with the director, I wish EK had replaced the Writers and other Creative team members too.
