Mandy dearest,
First of all, thanks for the morale booster about my looks!
Next, I agree completely with your last sentence, except that I do not know why that is so. See, Jodha Akbar was prime TV property and it must have been raking in the moolah. Now, 2 of
Ekta's new shows, each of which I watched for 2 weeks before dumping it,
Ajeeb dastaan hai yeh and
Itna karo na mujhse pyaar, with well known actors in the cast -Ronit Roy in the latter- seem to have crashed and burned. The latter had only 1.9 TRP last week, whereas even Ronit's tired old
Adaalat had 2.5!
Perhaps there are other new ones from their stable that have done very well. I do not know as I watch very few serials. But I have not heard of any major hits from Balaji last year. So it is not that Balaji has had huge successes with their new shows, and can afford to neglect their old hit serial.
Given this, why do they seem hellbent on sinking their prime product? A great mystery.
As for the prospects of the Salim-Anarkali track, I rate them very low, hairdresser or no hairdresser. That girl is stuck on badmouthing Shehzaade and Shahenshah like an LP stuck in the wrong place. And I have serious doubts about any major improvement in this Salim. So, I am soon going to be reduced to fast forwarding the "young love" segments and watching only the "old shoe love" parts. 😉
Incidentally, I learnt today that only the first few minutes of the episode and the last few minutes count for the TRPs. No wonder the Jalal-Jodha scenes are pasted in at the beginning and the end, especially the precap!😉😉

my dearest lovely shyamala, my god you remind me of asha parekh😳..i am so glad to see you here!..shyamla there quite a few weak points in the show at the moment..first of all the son is looking older than the father..although rajat is trying hard to look older with his voice modulation but he still looks so young and i think the director should look into it and do something about it..then this guy ravi as salim should be given few scenes that he can do with ease rather than giving him challenging ones and making him hog the whole screen space..then the character of anarkali needs to be softened..she looks more like jhansi ki rani than a hair dresser..this type of avatar suited jodha initially because she was a princess but not a hair dresser who does not know how to behave with the royals..and that looks ott and foolish..and why is she shown as a hair dresser why not a dancer..shyamla..i do not know what are the creatives thinking, i think they do not care about the show anymore!

Going the Mughal-e-Azam way, my dearest Mandy, is easier said than done. When Ekta went the Jodhaa Akbar way with additions, she had a spectacular lead pair. As for the iconic Mughal-e-Azam, it had Dilip Kumar and Madhubala.
And this one?? "Enuff said!😉 It is a non-starter, and it is not worth wasting time discussing it.
