Love that defied preset norms

My opinion is the SA story in JA should have followed Mughal e azam script
and Salim should have seen anarkali dance at jashn in Lahore(or agra)
The best part about Salim-anarkali the love story that makes it memorable after 400 years(whether fiction or fact) is that a crown prince loved a dancer and a dancer loved a crown prince going against society norms, class norms, family restrictions and stood up against all these for their love.
But here they messed up by introducing them in childhood and anarkali has no idea the common soldier is salim, salim has no clue she is nadira etc
In 21st century society is more open more accepting inter religion, inter caste, inter class all sort of marriages are accepted although they may face initial resistance. If society and family oppose you can take help of law, if that also does not help you can move cities, states or country to live with your love. In 16th century that was not an option was it?
If ever a prince loved a dancer can he leave country or rather sub continent and go somewhere. Not really because travel took many months by the time you go from agra to delhi it takes 5-6 days and to leave Mughal empire to another friendly empire it may take months. Will the Shahenshah forces leave you and not actch you by then? Definitely they will. So considering all these issues still if some one loved going above class, caste and society barriers then tha love was considered as great.
Instead of showing these intercacies of their love here they are showing something quiet modern 21st century a dancer anarkali is friends with salim's cousins sisters what a joke? where is society, caste and class barrier here? If all can so freely mingle in 16th century then what was so great about salim loving anarkali after all here she is his cousins friend right? But reality was far from what is shown here. Their love defied all conventions. That is why it comes up in every other greatest love stories of all time lists.
But this story does not seem to show that because here royals, commoners, dancers all are freely mingling like best childhood and school friends. Akbar himself is going to kabila chieftain wedding what a crap is he emperor or what? I had read that Akbar hardly went to any wedding other than his own immediate family members and here he is going to every wedding in amer and near by areas chieftain. These writers do not know anything about 16th century and thinking its 21st century.
An love that was considered one of the greatest love story of all time is reduced to a stupid fascination of 21st century type and is fizzling before it started.
Writers ruined JA love story by making Akbar jhoru ka ghulam and now they are ruining another story Salim Anarkali like this. Its best that Ekta's writers stop writing historical they are ruining everyone's reputation, demeaning parents and child relation, showing kids hating parents as young as 8 years old etc. Family relations in royals was complex it was not entirely one black and other white it was grey and complex. Writers lack skill to show all this they are only into saas bahu OTT dramas

Well said@myviewprem.

Nothing about the Salim Anarkali story has been properly presented. We all know that a love triangle is fast approaching. Man Bai and Anarkali are friends. One will be married to Salim, and the other one will be his lover. There will be plenty of rona dhona, 21st century style, EK serial types, set in ND Studios, Karjat .I wonder where Jagat Gosain fits in this mess. I'm curious to see what role Akbar and Jodha will have to play in Salim's romantic saga.

I will not be surprised if EK takes another leap soon.

The storyline cannot get any worse than this.

My dear,

What can I say when you have said it all? Except that all your detailed and impeccable logic is hardly relevant in this theatre of the absurd. The whole Salim-Anarkali track is so ludicrous that it defies any critique, for how low can one go in the rating?😡

It is not just this substandard Salim and this dismal Anarkali. It is even Jalal. Not only does he attend this wedding in a kabila, but last night he babbles idiotically to the enraged father of the bride that Salim was part of the raiding party. Now where was the necessity for that? He need not have lied, he could simply have kept quiet. And what did he think the reaction to his revelation would be?

Then he babbles more to Bhagwan Das that his bachcha can never do anything wrong, so there has to be a reason for his shenanigans. Undoubtedly because he is the son of Jodha Begum, who too can do no wrong!😉

prem what can i say?..i just finished watching the show..and here was my reaction..

-first of all such a boring substandard acting by salim who has his eyes wide open and completely expressionless..one cannot make out what he is trying to convey???..i as a viewer am left clueless with his half baked expressions and on top of that he conquers most of the screen space..how much can i ff and ignore him!

-anarkali..the actress is prettier and better actress than salim, but what repetitive dialogues she is getting and why she has zillion friends..right from royals to kabila waasis..i did not know that her hair dressing business is so popular !..now where is the dancer anarkali whom MEA salim fell in love..and what an actor dilip sahib was!

-now poor akbar..bas yehi kaam reh gaya hai to whitewash the sins of his own people and to attend kabila weddings..now who is taking care of the sultanat in agra???...and yes shyamala i agree why he had to say salim did it..all i can say is that the script and direction at its worst!!!!

Not convincing. Can u be more clear or precise. For salim, Anar & Nur are lovers, man , Jagat etc are time pass?
Jalal & Salim sailing in the same boat..

I don't know what is more criminal...the sheet lack of creativity and common sense on indian telly or the time and energy that is wasted by us looking for something sensible in it. It is quite clear zee is just passing time till the end of world cup to shut down ja and watch a new one post it. The epic love fictional or real ended just around the sujamal track...uske baad toh its been series of let downs for viewers.

Unfortunately the definition of Love today is defined by the tangible physical and hence the polygamous set up becomes a paradox - whereas Love in its purest form is intangible and about souls where gender is irrelevant - one of the most beautiful love story is that of Rumi and Shams and another is that of Nizamuddin Auliya and Amir Khusrau - and to write such a love story that is not confined by societal norms of gender, class, religion, caste requires a deep understanding of Love - even the JA love story defies norms and so do that of Salim Anarkali and Salim Noorjehan - but unfortunately no writer has been able to do justice to any of these except K. Asif in MEA - perhaps becoz Asif really did have that deep understanding of Love.

watch siyaasat its a very interesting show on salim and noor and a very realistic presentation! salim loved maan bai..then jagat..then they have shown noor who was his eternal love and she is the one that ruled in true sense over salim's heart and the mughal sultanat!..anar might have been one of akbar's concubines who fell in love with salim and then father son had issues about, but not sure of the anar ki kali part!
