Part 1😳
It has been a few minutes since Jodha has found out that she is accepted at the best college of Mumbai. She was very excited. She called up her best friend (Rukaiya) to tell her about this. "Rukaiya..I am coming to college with you!!!" "Whaat?" Rukaiya exclaimed from the other end. "Ohmygosh Jodha, ohmygosh!!" By now Jodha was on the top of her bed and jumping up on it crazily. "Ooh Rukaiya, how long I've been waiting for this day..!!" Jodha told her best friend.
"I still can't believe this" Rukaiya replied happily. "You and I are going to the same college!" "Believe it darling, okay now, I'll be right over!" Jodha said suddenly getting an idea. "Great see ya!" Rukaiya yelled back. Jodha rolled her eyes at this and replied back sweetly, "Yup! See you too!"
Jodha picked up a purse and some necessary items before heading out into the living room. "Hon what's up?" Menavati asked her. "Mama, I am spending the night with Ruks!" "Ruks?" Bharmal said raising an eyebrow. "I mean Rukaiya, Papa" Jodha quickly answered. Bharmal looked up from his newspaper and said, "Okay beta, go on.." Menavati looked at Bharmal as if he were nuts and rushed up to Jodha. Taking hold of her daughter's hand she shook her head. "No Jodha! In just a few days you'll be going to college, I can't let you go now!"
"Mom.."
"Menavati" Bharmal said to his overdramatic wife. "In a few days, not today itself! Please control yourself!"
"You stay out of it!" Menavati said shushing her husband. "How would you know what a mother feels on being separated from her daughter.
"Mama please.." Jodha said. "Why do you love me so much?"
And that was all it took for Jodha's mother to start sobbing. "Jodha beta..noo don't leave me..find a different college, nearby.."
"Mom, you know na that this is my favorite college and also..I'm not even leaving today!"
Bharmal clicked his tongue in a disapproving manner. "Look Jodha, how much your mom is crying, she didn't cry that much even on her wedding day!"
"you be quiet" Menavati told her husband. Jodha turned her mother towards herself. Wiping her mom's tears away she said, "Mom it's okay..we understand how you must feel, and stay assured..your rajkumari will always stay in your heart. But please please stop crying." At this point, Jodha's eyes had begun tearing up as well. She could not see her parents sad. Period.
Bharmal put down his newspaper and walked up to the ladies. "Ah..both of you, quit crying! Save some tears for our Jodha's wedding!" Bharmal added. When Bharmal saw no sign of their tears stopping he wrapped his arms around both of them. "Nay guys don't cry..it's alright..Jodha you go, and lemme handle your mother."

Bakshi crept up to where her brother Jalal was sleeping and smiled mischievously. She took a bottle of face paint and went to work. Her smile only widened as she went on with her work. She remembered how a few hours earlier she had slipped a sleeping pill into her brother's juice to ensure he would not get up during her fun time. Now, she only had to wait for morning! Bakshi rubbed her hands together feeling satisfied with her work. "Aw bhaijaan..I feel so bad for you..you will get teased something awful!" And with this the 19-year old girl slipped out of his room waiting for the next day to come.
As soon as she slammed the door shut behind her, Jalal opened one eye angrily. He put his hand over his face and felt it. He groaned. He was so tired after such a long day and Bakshi kept on playing those silly tricks! Then a sudden idea came to his mind. "Oooh Bakshi, you are soo dead!" he said a big grin lighting up his whole face. His younger sister had thought that she could fool him, but luck was on his side. He had seen Bakshi do what she thought he wouldn't find out!
He picked up his phone and set the alarm for an hour later. Now, he would have his fun. In the famous Jalaluddin isstyle!

"Rukaiya.." Jodha said for the hundredth time. "No I don't have a crush on anyone."
"Come on Jodha, such a cute girl like you, you must've fallen for someone!" Rukaiya said.
Jodha shook her head as she thought about it. "No..I can't think of a single guy that I liked in high school!"
"Oh?" Rukaiya said obviously disappointed. "Well guess what Jodha, there's this guy that I think would suit you..your chemistry with him would be too good, I assure you!" Rukaiya said brightly.
Jodha frowned at her best friend. "No Rukaiya..haven't I told you several times?!" "Luv shuv and that too right now? No ways" Jodha said rolling her eyes. "My prince charming will come when it's the right time.."
Jodha had this dreamy look on her face as she remembered the story her mother used to tell her every night. "He will be brave" Jodha said. "But with that he will also know how to respect! And.."
"And?" Rukaiya asked her friend, a smile playing at her lips as her friend went on.
"He will be soo handsome!" Jodha added. "And..?" Rukaiya pressed on. "And..oh just shut up Ruks!" Jodha said punching her lightly on her arm.
Rukaiya shrugged and said, "Was only wondering Jodha!"
"Stop day dreaming, silly girl!" Jodha told her friend. "For now focus on your nail polish- look it's dripping onto your mattress!" Jodha said pointing at the small drop of hot pink nail polish that hand landed on Ruks's bed.
"Oh, leave that" Rukaiya said, that dreamy look in her eyes now. "We're going to college na..we'll find someone suitable-"
"Ohmygosh Ruks!" Jodha shrieked. "College is for learning!!!!"
"Oh Jodha..when will you understand?" Rukaiya asked her in exasperation. "You don't realize it now, but college..it's the moment of a lifetime!"
Jodha handed Rukaiya back the bottle of light pink nail polish that she had been applying on her nails. "My goal is to study!" Jodha replied back confidently. Rukaiya laughed. "That's what everyone says my friend but you are the only one I believe when you say that. You're extremely into studying and if I didn't know any better, I'd call it an addiction!!"
"Oh Ruks don't say that!!" Jodha exclaimed. "I'm a cute and nice girl just like everyone else!!"
"I know.." Rukaiya said pulling Jodha's cheek. "All I'm saying is that you also love studying!!"
Jodha rolled her eyes and yawned. "I think it's waay too late now" she told Ruks. "Maybe we should get going to bed?"
Ruks nodded with a kind look on her face. "You go on and sleep Jodha."
Jodha watched as Rukaiya turned off the lights and put on her headphones. Rukaiya had this bad habit of listening to music on her ipod right before bed. She said it helped her sleep faster. Jodha had been alarmed the first time ever that she had seen Ruks do that. The loud music that she could hear even without the headphones on didn't sound relaxing at all!

Jalal tiptoed up to Bakshi's room an hour later (assuming she was asleep). He pulled up the hood of his sweatshirt to make it look more creepy. He transformed Bakshi's "innocent" face to a tiger's. For a second even Jalal was shocked at his own handiwork but then he shrugged it off. She had painted the same thing on his face after all, itna toh banta hai. "Aw, you'll get teased something awful!" Jalal mimicked her voice as he shut the door to her room.
The next morning, as Hamida served Adham, Javeda, and Jalal breakfast, he kept looking at his watch. "What's wrong beta?" Hamida asked her son. "Nothing mother" Jalal replied taking another spoonful of cereal. Adham was Hamida's adopted & oldest son and Javeda was his wife. "Where's Bakshi?" Javeda asked her mother-in-law politely.
"She should be here soon..Bakshi!" Jalal hollered before Hamida could say another word.
In her room, Bakshi immediately jumped out of bed on hearing her brother's voice. He could be scary sometimes! Plus, she thought that Jalal would be mad at what she did last night. She rushed out of her room and ran quickly into the dining room. "Ji Bhaijaan.." Bakshi stopped confused at why Jalal was looking normal. Everyone else at the table however, were quite shocked on seeing Bakshi. Javeda, unable to control herself, bursted out laughing. Adham's eyes widened on seeing this form of his younger sister. Hamida looked right over to where Jalal was sitting and saw a sneaky smile on his face. Oh' she thought to herself and shaking her head from side to side. She should've known.
"Javeda Bhabhi?" Bakshi asked a little surprised on seeing everyones faces. Bakshi looked over to her mother who was smiling a little bit. "Oh I know I woke up a little late today Ammi but truly I didn't mean to..oh.." She trailed off as Javeda stood up and led her to a mirror on the wall. "Just look at yourself" Javeda said laughing. "Aaah!" Bakshi screamed in horror when she saw her own face in the mirror. "Oh my gosh!!"
Everyone in the room bursted out laughing, including the servant who was helping serve breakfast. As Bakshi saw her family laughing at her, her expression of horror turned into one of hurt. Jalal was quick to notice that there were tears in Bakshi's eyes. At that moment, he didn't know why, but he felt a huge pain in his chest. He could not bare to see tears in his sister's eyes.
"Shh.." he told the others and headed towards his sister. "Bakshi.." he said ashamedly. "Bhai Jaan.." Bakshi sniffed. "Everyone's laughing at me.."
Jalal immediately wiped away Bakshi's tears. "Please Bakshi don't cry!" he ordered. "You know I can't stand tears and that too from my sister!"
Bakshi pouted understanding that her brother was the one to pull the prank on her.
"I'm so sorry Bakshi" Jalal apologized. "I just wanted to play your own trick on you." "Please forgive your older brother, you know he loves you."
Bakshi finally melted and turned to her brother. "Ok ok I forgive you" she said scoffed. "But.."
"But what?" Jalal asked her. "You'll have to increase my allowance this week!" Bakshi told him as if it were the most obvious thing in the world to do when your sister gets mad.
"Bakshi, no fair, for such a small prank I will not increase your allowance!" Jalal said returning back to his normal self.
Bakshi ran over to their mother. "See Ammi, bhai doesn't love me" she complained overdramatically. Hamida shrugged. This was what they always did. First they argued and then Bakshi came running to her. "Well Bakshi.." Adham said clearing his throat. "I'll be happy to increase your allowance." Bakshi beamed in happiness. "Seriously bhaiya?" Bakshi asked Adham. Adham smiled and went up to her. Placing a hand on her head he said, "You know I'd do anything for my sister." Bakshi smiled and hugged her older brother.
Jalal watched the scene from afar. He sometimes wondered how Adham always managed to make everyone so happy. Sometimes he felt jealous of good boy Adham. Always managing to please his mother and sister.
Sensing Jalal's discomfort Hamida said, "Okay okay both of you, if you are done with your brother-sister bonding, I'd like you guys to finish up breakfast. We have lots to do today!"
Coming up... Jodha's first day of college😛
