"Let me just tell you both, that I am not impressed" the Principal started off saying. "May I just add that you both behave like immature kids?"

Meanwhile, Jalal was just staring at Jodha whose hands were trembling and her eyes were filled with tears.

"Sir! Why are you listening to that khoosat librarian??" Jalal said in frustration. "You know her! Even the sound of breathing in her library is not allowed!"

"Silence!" the principal barked at Jalal, who shrunk back into his chair at once.

"When I speak no one else speaks!"

Jalal nodded stupidly, shocked by the principal's strictness.

"Miss Jodha.." the principal said turning towards her. "I had higher expectations from you since Bharmal is a very good friend of mine."

Jodha looked up in surprise, she had no idea about this.

"But-" the principal said as he held up a hand. "That certainly doesn't mean that you will be excused from the punishment."

"Aree sir, what's all this punishment for? Do you not agree that we did everyone a favor by knocking over three whole shelves of books?" Jalal said.

"Sir, I am very sorry about all this.. it's just that this boy here keeps on distracting me ever since I set foot on this campus!" Jodha revealed. "In fact, he sent me a bouquet of flowers, I mean Sir is that even allowed?"

The principal looked Jalal over seriously. "Man, if you're gonna get into trouble then it better be for a girl who appreciates you, not this book worm!"

"Sir, you are wandering off the topic" Jodha reminded the principal.

"Right." said the principal. "Why did you do this Jalal?" he asked him. "You are making a fresher in this school uncomfortable when you're supposed to be a role model."

"Sir, I have no clue what this girl here is rambling about" Jalal said. "I have more sense than that!"

"He's lying!" Jodha insisted. "In fact, I can give you proof if you need it."

The principal just shook his head as he gave his students a sorry look.

"Let it be Jodha, I am sure he won't do anything like that after this, right Jalal?"

Jalal just glared at Jodha.

"Anyways, detention with Professor Suri tomorrow" the principal told them.

"You both serve it after college hours are over" the Principal said.

"Fine by me" Jalal said getting up to leave as he flung his book bag over his shoulder. Having been used to all this, it wasn't a big deal for him.

As he was leaving he heard Jodha bargaining with the principal. "Sir, I will give you two cupcakes tomorrow, I promise!"

Jalal just smiled at her antics and closed the door behind him.

"Ladki Kyon na Jaane Kyon, Ladko Si Nahi Hoti.."

Rukaiya looked up, her lips parted in surprise. She was just sitting on a bench with a book resting on her lap.

A smile spread across her face as she saw Jalal and his gang dancing to impress her.

Getting up, she ushered a few nearby girls over & they started their own dance.

"Iss liye ladkiyan ladko si nahi hoti" the girls sang back.

A smiling Jalal shook his head back at them and looked on. Rukaiya ran up to him and dragged him by his arm. She started a mini dance with him. As she danced with him arm in arm, she forgot all about the surroundings. All of them were dancing, and going on with the flow of the music.

When all of a sudden, Jodha's voice rang out, "Rukaiya!" She always called like this when she was angry.

Everyone froze in their spots at once and looked on at Jodha. "Jodha voh.." Rukaiya said as she released her grip from Jalal's arm. "Um.."

Jodha sternly tilted her head to one side and stared at Rukaiya.

Rukaiya gulped while Jalal just felt annoyed that she had interrupted their dance.

"Dancing without me?!" Jodha said as she pouted.. "I also want to dance, you know!"

Everyone looked at Jodha in surprise. "What really?" Rukaiya said, her face brightening on hearing this.

At once, both the girls raced towards each other and high-fived with both of their hands. "Let's rock this Ruks!" Jodha said brightly as she shot Jalal a look.

Jodha started moving her feet to the beat as the song started. Bringing her arms up in the air, she started snapping slowly. She circled Jalal as if to challenge him. Jalal just looked on at Jodha in shock as she danced around him, forgetting all her worries.

His eyes widened when Jodha got hold of his arm and forcefully spun him. She held up a hand to tell him to stop and spun to show him how to do it. 😆 Jalal who had been gazing at her in awe, just spun in return without thinking.

Rukaiya came up to both of them and took hold of one Jalal's arm. Jodha chuckled at this and she took hold of Jalal's arm.

"Guys look at this, we're going to do tug of war with him!" Jodha exclaimed as she pointed at Jalal for everyone to see.

Everyone's attention was on them and the little crowd started cheering at once.

"Go go go!" they started to chant.

By now, Jalal had returned back to his senses and he broke himself free from Rukaiya & Jodha's grasp. He had never been more insulted.

"What are you both doing!" Jalal said in horror. "I'm leaving!"

"Haan haan go.." Jodha said, and the girls started laughing as Jalal turned to go.

"You should've seen his face" Jodha told Rukaiya cheerfully. "I bet no one has ever done that to him." Jodha chuckled at her own words.

Rukaiya however, was recalling how Jalal had danced along with her before Jodha had come.

"Oye Rukaiya, kahan kho gayi tum?" Jodha asked smilingly.

"No.. nothing" Rukaiya said brushing aside her thoughts. "Let's go!"

After college ended that day, Jodha told Rukaiya to go on as she had to go for detention. "I have to bear that Ullu ka pattha-" Jodha said glumly.

"Don't worry Jodha, he's not so bad" Rukaiya assured her. "He has tons of attitude to show, but you know when he was dancing, I saw his sweet side."

"No Ruks, you don't know him!" Jodha snapped. "You are too innocent. You know that day outside the hostel, he said so many rude things to me!"

"Welcome students!" a bright Mr. Suri exclaimed as Jalal and Jodha entered his classroom together. "Please take a seat."

Jodha nodded obediently and found a chair to sit on. Jalal rolled his eyes and sat down with his legs on the desk.

"I have heard about you, boy" Mr. Suri told Jalal, laughingly. "Trouble-maker you are."

"Shall we start our...detention?" Jalal asked as he glanced at the watch.

"Eager for it, are you?" Jodha snapped. "First, because of you I am stuck here & now you're so excitedly asking him to-"

"Calm down, young lady" Mr. Suri told her before Jalal could reply. "Let me explain what you both are to do today."

"I want you both to clean up the college-"

"What!" Jodha and Jalal said as they jumped out of their seats.

"You both will be the janitors today, isn't that fun?" Mr. Suri asked them eagerly. "You two are getting the chance of a lifetime!"

"Where are the actual janitors?" Jalal asked him angrily. "Eating Popcorn I bet!"

"That doesn't matter guys" Mr. Suri told them. "Just make sure to do as many rooms as you can before 6." "The rest you will finish tomorrow-"

"Don't act so smart, Sir" Jodha said angrily. "We have a one-time detention, we're not servants."

Jalal looked at Jodha in surprise. "I mean I'm not one, don't know about him" Jodha said in his direction.

"I'll give you more detentions for talking back to me!" Mr. Suri said getting serious. "Just do what you're told!"

"But-"

Before Jodha could finish Jalal grabbed her arm and dragged her outside. "Jodha look, I've been through it, by yelling you'll only make matters worse."

"Are chodo" Jodha cried, shoving his hand away. "Tumhari wajah se phassi hoon main yahan par aur ab tum hi mujhe bata rahe ho?" She let out a sigh. "Jaao tum apna kaam karo aur mein apna."

"Kiddos.." Mr. Suri called out.

Jodha gave Jalal one last look before going back in. "Here's your broom" Mr. Suri said handing it over to Jodha.

"And here's a cloth for you to wipe all the desks." Mr. Suri said handing it to Jalal.

"Isn't this against the rules or something?" Jodha asked. "Shall I go check with the principal?"

"If you want him to give you more work then yeah.." Mr. Suri told them. "This was his idea after all." Mr. Suri told them gently. "Just work hard, guys." he said patting Jalal's shoulder before turning to go correct some papers.

"Chalo, to make it easier, we both do each room together" Jodha told him. "And don't act smart."

Both of them went to work quickly as Jalal began scrubbing desks and Jodha began to sweep the floors.

Once Jodha accidentally hit Jalal in the stomach with her broom and he yelled, "Dude!"

"S-sorry" Jodha whispered before hurrying to sweep another part of the room.

"This isn't how you do it!" Jalal hollered angrily, as he made a footprint on the floor over the dust Jodha had left nearby.

Jodha stopped what she was doing and looked over at him frustratedly.

"Pagal ho kya??" she yelled at him.

"Ho gaya hoon!" Jalal replied back angrily.

"Teri toh.." Jodha threw her broom across at him.

"Dude!" Jalal said breaking the broom in half. Jodha gasped and snatched the cloth from him.

"You broke my broom na?" she asked tearfully. "Now you watch!"

She ran out the room with Jalal right on her tail.

"Ab tum dekhna" Jodha said through gritted teeth as she marched into the Chemistry lab.

She picked up a tube of greenish looking liquid and poured it over the cloth.

Jalal just looked at her with wide eyes, unable to say anything.

She grabbed a few more tubes and let the liquid flow over the rag.

She held it up for Jalal to see, apparently satisfied with the results..

"See Jalal?" she asked him as she grinned. "Look at this brown piece of clo-"

"Aaah!!" she screamed as she let the rag fall. Her hands were beginning to turn red.

Jalal immediately rushed to her and pulled her arm up. "You're supposed to wear gloves!" he yelled at her. "This is the chemistry lab, you idiot!"

Tears were flowing down Jodha's face and she couldn't say anything this time, which made Jalal vaguely realize how much pain she must be in.

"Hey, it's okay.." he said pulling her into his arms. "You'll be fine" he said patting her cheek gently.

As he noticed her tears, he wiped them away and said, "Tears and you don't go well together, you know."

"Jalal, do something!" Jodha yelled at him.

"Yeah, wait a minute" Jalal said looking around to see what he could do. Then unable to decide anything he picked Jodha up in one go and carried her to the nurse's office.

"Nurse, look what's happening to her" he said setting her on a small bed.

The Nurse stood up and put on her gloves. As she examined Jodha's hands she said, "Dear, you gotta be safe in chemistry!"

Jalal observed the ladies from afar, as the nurse fussed over Jodha and put some cream on her hands. "I guess I got carried away" Jodha mumbled a little bit in shock.

"There you're done, just take care of your hands now, okay?" the nurse asked her kindly.

"Young man, you may assist her out" the nurse told him returning to her table.

"Mam, we have detention" Jalal told her.

The nurse shook her head. "It's fine, forget about it."

Jalal nodded as he gestured for Jodha to come. As they both walked towards the exit together Jodha mumbled, "Thanks."

Jalal just looked at her as if he had seen her for the first time. This Pari as Maan called her. She was silly, innocent, & always ready to fight. But most of all, she was beautiful. He couldn't believe that his eyes would've fallen on Rukaiya first instead of Jodha.

Jodha lifted her eyes to Jalal's face as she had felt his gaze on herself.

"What." she asked him, as her cheeks turned red.

"I don't need to say, do I?" Jalal said, noticing her blush.

Jodha gazed at him. "Maybe you're not too bad, Mr." she told him as if judging him.

"Same for you" Jalal replied. "Friends?"

Jodha thought for a moment and then nodded, "Friends."

Jalal held out his hand and so did Jodha, but then they both broke off laughing. "You're such an idiot" Jodha said as she laughed.

"And you're so silly" Jalal told her smilingly.
