And no Salim Anarkali stuffs đ đđź
I'm in no mood n in favour of this ridiculous season 2 commitment at all. The show will take its last breath only with Jodha and Akbar only... No matter what. And hell kinda like PariJat will never agree to play oldies to their children at all ...
Rather they might quit most probably despite their professionalism huh.
Initial part of ur post is pretty convincing though but the rest didn't interest me n support my perceptions. Ur doubtless speculations abt Salim Anarkali track doesn't pave the way for the show to be successful ahead in future. Ppl n we are head over heels in damn love with AkDha unconditionally n how come this drastic n unexpected dawn of new generation lovers?? Sorry its difficult to gulp down the immature fact down my throat as of now. Ekta has already ridiculed the eminent characters of Akbar n Heer Kunwar so far to our surprise n now the another butchering of long dead legends? Huh?? Abig no pplease. At least I don't want our beloved Salim and Anarkali to curse their souls in grave in the hands of ekta. But I'm really proud to admit that Rajat ad Akbar and Paridhi as Jodha has done Outstanding and Brilliant job so far till now n has lived upto our expectations. They have brought back alive the 450 years old eminent characters from 16th century which was indeed a cumbersome job to carry out. Hats off to the whole team of Jodha Akbar n of course Our beloved PariJat.
And yes ma'am I agree ... The tragic damnation of Maham Anga has brought JA to a standstill from where it badly needs to overcome the trauma n move ahead with an overall new storyline or I would say to completely follow the Real Akbar's life after Maham's phase despite the fact that her character has been illogically stretched bcz as per the history she died around jalal jodha marriage only. Yet I blindly hope that JA makers introduce the Important NINE GEMS of Akbar. The birth of salim will be another track to follow after consequent deaths of 4 children of AkDha I guess that will be covered up in little leap. I would expect makers to be sensible enough to not to introduce the Salim Anarkali track as the majority won't be able to accept it. Or else they can go with what u want ...
That's all I had to say.

look honestly in EK's show male lead is always like a side hero. so i feel it will be worst after leap or after salim anarkali's entry. dont mind but this show is about jodha & her "manavta" & jalal is always like a supporting actor despite of being the main lead. its rajat who is holding the "shan" of the role by his acting, otherwise it has not much imp. so if salim-anarkali enters it will be worst for him. jalal fans will always be at the edge. so at least now he has tht much of a screen space were he can prove his talent, otherwise if leap happens he wont be able to win any awards.
Mandy Salim Anarkali if shown EK style will involve even more harem ladies and Anarkali competing with other women. Meanwhile Salim will be hanging around the gardens and women will be fighting over who he looked at the longest or who he sent a rose to. After 80 episodes S and A will meet more often alone for a few minutes, while many jealous peeps will plot to either promote or hinder the romance.
JA is already suffering because Jalal is currently spending a LOT of time in the harem. And he has to untangle the mess. No state matters have been allowed to intervene and give him some sukoon. He holds his head with a headache, listening to the 'logic' of giving away one of his children completely - no rights over the child at all. It makes him look helpless, frustrated, powerless. It's only Rajat's very convincing portrayal of a good father that has saved it and has given it some viewing pleasure. Else it is at the lowest ebb now. Very flat Jodha-Akbar wise. But once Ruqs is exposed, the focus can be on JJ more fully as parents. And Jalal will be free from harem politics. It should get better at least..till twins death. Then maybe some more mini leaps, nine gems, and leading up to Salim's birth. JJ have to be in most frames for this to work though.

Mandy can you imagine Durga Khote's Jodha lines, "Khuddar Mughalon ki aabaro itni halki nahi ki ek nacheez laundi ke barabar tul jaye, aur humara hindustan koi tumahara dil nahi, laundi jiski mallika bane" being spoken by EK's Jodha?đ˛...never, ever.đ˛
K.Asif Jodha, respected and abided by AKbar without appearing weak...in the movie, Both Jodha and Akbar were strong characters there. They have to pick up leaves from history and put their own spices to make it dramatic...These could keep up the fodder till next mid year or more...Also these tracks can involve both Jodha and Jalal supporting each other, both can be kept balanced and involved in socio-politico tracks, and some spiritual bonding.
- reforms introduced, starting from harem as a laboratory testing...
- more assassination attempts...
- few wars...lets say dandiya battles...
- few yatras by JA,
- gradual introduction of nine gems and other courtiers
- and I would not mind few more marriages of Akbar...ok just mentioned, not shown can be done with Jodha's consent in them as necessary from political aspects, thus, we could get a new Villain Begum to give Ruqaiya either competition or companyđđ
Also, none of these tracks need, so called Epic love story...phew!!!đđ

Mandy dearest,
What a dismal prospect! By now, Ekta has pretty much finished with demolishing Akbar, and reduced him to a spare time emperor, who spends most of his time even in the Diwan-e-Khas settling his family issues, and wandering about the palace making sure Jodha Begum is ok.
đ..shyamala, first of all a very big thank you for gracing my thread! i can very well understand your frustration regarding akbar's portrayal in ekta style and did we expect anything better?..i guess not! ekta knows how a show can survive, as she is the one who introduced sbsđ..and think about it is ekta capable of making a show on just Akbar the great?.. no she is not..she does not have that kind of creative team and is unwilling to spend that kind of money..she is no Ashutosh nor K Asif who had some sort of a junoon on their head as far as Akbar's portrayal is concerned as he is the only mughal king worthy of respect!..and shayamala i will wait for the day when a producer makes a show on Akbar the great by executing all the details to the fullest and showing him the way he was and no sugar coating to cause diabetes!
You yourself realise that nothing of any substance about Akbar's actual reign, the conquests, the navaratna, the insatiable urge to learn and assimilate, the rest of his reforms (without his having been tutored in them by Jodha Begum!) can be expected given the kind of writers Ekta favours and her budget constraints.
you are absolutely right there we cannot expect any of that and all the reforms have to be approved by jodha begum as jalal is addicted to her nod and smile i guessđ..and not to forget at the end all praises and credit going to her, if she was not there he would not have done it..typical ekta style naari shakti mahaan!..and no arguments on that!
Why, this Jalal cannot even pronounce the second line of the Karmanyevadhikaraste sloka without massacring both the words and the anvaya, the way they are split up. I literally cringed when I listened to him recite that second line last night, Could they not have redubbed it? It was awful, and as for Jodha's recitation from the Holy Quran, I do not know how good or bad that was as I do not know Arabic. So much for Ekta's take on Akbar's amazing level of interest in other religions and cultures.
hmmm..sorry cannot comment on that because i did not notice and you could be right since you are more knowledgeable on that topic! but if it was a mistake the director should have fixed it rather than giving it ok..i would say it was faha wadd scene..in punjabi it means jo bhi hai jaisa bhi hai theek hai bas khtam karo time nahin haiđ
As for your feeling that there was something missing in Jodha Akbar the film, I think it is pointless to compare a 3 hour 20 minute film with the 120 hour plus footage that the serial has already consumed. If Ekta had been limited to 200 minutes, then you could have compared the two! I loved the film and I still love it. I loved the effortless power and the insouciant arrogance of the early Jalal here, but now I am pretty much fed up with this milksop avatar, the flash in the pan of the Atifa track notwithstanding.
i agree! by something missing i meant that Akbar's whole life journey was incomplete which can only be completed in a serial form and not in a movie form, and yes there is no doubt that ekta would have made a piece of crap in the form of movie as compared to Ashutosh's JA..and i love the movie but wished that it was longer or had more parts!
Nor can you compare Mughal-e-Azam, which was a very stagy, theatrical film, and Jodhaa Akbar. The latter was not meant to be powerful at all, it was a love story set against the backdrop of a mighty empire in the making, and the love story was effortlessly woven into the historical fabric. In Mughal-e-Azam, there was nothing but the stereotyped boy-loves--girl-and-boy's father disapproves violently track, spread over more than 3 hours. Just think of Durga Khote's Jodha Bai (she was not called begum there) pressing her hand to her heart and declaiming about her mamta for her son, sent off to Rajasthan to lose his early addiction to liquor, and you will agree with me about the staginess of the whole thing. Akbar's loud declamations, given Prithviraj Kapoor's strong theatrical background, were equally predictable, and could have been taken from any sasur- bahu serial.
i liked that movie keeping in mind the technicalities that it might have faced as it was not an era of high tech as it is now, and we cannot compare both movies in terms of their presentation as JA was more of a subtle movie with glamor..and it too focused mainly on their relation than more of sultanat issues..and MEA i believe had more powerful dialogues which are still remembered and who remembers JA dialogues!..the songs were immortal with beautiful poetry and some of the scenes and especially the sets were so grand that i do not think that movie can be re made..as it took K asif 10 years to make the movie...and that fellow put his flesh and blood into it..in fact he lived for that movie..i still remember when i was little maybe 4 or 5 years old and this movie was playing the 5 th time i believe in theaters and still my mother did not get the ticket..that was the impact of this movie and not to forget the power packed performance of Dilip saab and prithraj kapoor!
What made Mughal-e-Azam a classic was the superlative cast and their combined star power, which was incandescent in the heavy dramatic scenes, like the one when Anarkali flees from the advancing Akbar straight into Salim's arms, and then slides limply to the floor at his feet. Being the Mughal prince that he is, Salim does not stoop to pick her up. That was a splendid touch.
i agree and that is what i mean by being powerful in terms of scenes, acting , and dialogues!
It is fashionable nowadays to say that Mughal-e-Azam was a huge success when it was released, but nothing could be further from the truth. I watched in the theater in 1960, and the audience was completely put off by the heavy Urdu that they could not understand at all, and they sat on only for the Pyar kiya to darna kya song and the wonderful Sheesh Mahal scene shot in colour, a great rarity then.
i see! well i was not born then but when i was few years old as i mentioned earlier i went with my mother as the movie was playing the 5th time i believe and still she could not get the ticket and i have heard people used to put up tents in front of the theater of mumbai i believe it was the famous maratha theater where the movie was playing and they used to wait for weeks to get the ticket which i have not seen or heard before!
I loved the Salim-Anarkali love scenes, especially the white feather one in the garden at night, with Bade Ghulam Ali Khan singing in the background. I liked the haughty unbending Mughal prince that Dilip Kumar made of his Salim, but most of the viewers, with their tastes carried over from theatre and the old 1940s films, dismissed him as too stiff and preferred Pradeep Kumar in Anarkali, which did much better at the box office!!
what reallyđpradeep kumar does not know how to act! i have not and will not see his movie..oh god!
Now, if Ekta drifts to Salim-Anarkali, I do not see how this Jodha-Akbar jodi can have anything powerful to do. Whether Jodha is shown siding with Salim or with Akbar, in either case she will weep and lament a lot. Akbar is bound to be mostly rigid rage, and Rajat will go overboard with it, as he does all too often here, forgetting that the icy anger of the early episodes was infinitely more telling. I think it will be as bad as this serial has become for quite a while yet.
hmm..i think shyamala we will have to wait and watch how events turn out, i just want SV to come back as the director as he was the one that made everything look so perfect and even the acting department was up to the mark, since he left we see the holes in the sinking ship!
What I found interesting is the obvious eagerness with which you are looking forward to all this. I now see that Ekta is truly a magician. đ But her jadoo does not work on me, more is the pity, for it is sometimes pleasing to be able to con oneself into loving something, even if it is substandard for the most part.
đ..shyamala my dear i got carried away by the magic of MEA as i just finished watching it and thought it might not be a bad idea after all and ekta is good at showing all this kind of stuff and that is her genre..and as per my initial part of the post i also mentioned why she cannot show anything intellectual and worthwhile, therefore i have zeroed my expectations and if i get to see some breadth taking passion and drama through this new track then i am all for it..bring it onđđ
..kuch aur nahin to ye hi sahi..!

Infact mandy, the leap is definitely slated from October - all the clues are there - MA to die next week followed by the birth and death of twins - and we already have heard of auditions for a grown up Salim - which means the actors shd be in place by mid to end October for shoots - and that would mean the epis with leap shd start airing by mid to end November - I dont think there will be anymore lingering on - the fact that we are no longer seeing any passion between the leads is also a pointer to this, is my gut feel.
Anyway, I am open to this since this will make my de-addiction to this show complete and I can actually say bye to the show and just confine myself to the forum and all of you đ
Nice post Mandy...got me thinking whether there will be a leap...and I feel with JA occupying the top 2 slots in TRPs since past few weeks, there may not be a leap(if the trend continues)...But you have given very valid reasons for JA having a leap.
The serial has lost its charm, and Zee does not seem to have a big problem with that. So I am sceptical about the leap to Salim-Anarkali story.
