@Bold: Absolutely true! There is so much negativity in daily threads. Even I restrict myself to one or two daily threads and prefer to read Abhay's historicals, which are always much more positive and inspiring. 😃 And I suggest the same to all those who complain of negativity in the forum/show. Visit Abhay's threads for a change in mood! ⭐️
@underlined: Yes, even on this forum, there was a lot of misinformation spread about Akbar's kids. For instance, I have seen posts that questioned Akbar and Jodha being close around 1563, as shown in the serial, because she had Salim only in 1569. I had answered this member then that love, relationships and children have no link and it was entirely possible that Jodha either didn't conceive due to medical reasons or had a few MCs. Like another member mentioned above, infant mortality rate was extremely high in those days. Akbar and Jodha lost so many kids before Salim was born.
Actually, the extreme interest in Akbar's kids itself is amusing. How does it matter to anyone how many kids Akbar had by the MUZ? Is the number of children the only proof of love between the two? If they didn't have any kids, would it have meant that they didn't love each other? Does it mean childless couples do not love each other?
The MUZ is mentioned as Akbar's favourite wife in contemporary chronicles written by not just Mughal historians but by those from other kingdoms too, including Europeans. There are palaces dedicated to her in almost every important Mughal city of Akbar's time. The way her importance has been highlighted in the account on the capture of the Rahimi is the proof we all should pay greater heed to (than the number of kids).
FS, which has been described as the unburied Pompeii of the Mughal empire in one account ^^, is itself dedicated to this magnificent princess from Amber who rose to become not only the queen mother of India but also one of the first Indian women to invest in foreign trade.
I am really thankful to Abhay, Kamal and Lizzy for this extremely illuminating thread on Akbar's personal life. It shows just how close (almost one) were Akbar and Jodha and how they could never really stay away from each other even in wars or periods of "confinement". But let us not reduce their epic love story to the round figure of 10 and multiple SRs.
Like Abhay himself has said in his post ^^, Jodha was much, much more to Akbar than just the mother of his children. The titles he gave her, the position and power he gave her in political matters, the equality he gave her in administrative and judicial matters, the faith he had in her warfare skills (which is why he ever gave her such a large cavalry), the freedom he gave her to pursue foreign trade, all indicate her immense talent and intellect and courage as well as his belief in her strengths. Their equal partnership in all walks of life is the true testimony to their epic love.
This is the kind of equal partnership women yearn from their husbands till date. 😊
