hi folks!
thank you all for such wonderful and insightful analysis on the difference of love stages that jodha and jalal sit at..jalal will always be step ahead because he got the head start in the race, whereas jodha was forced into it..for her to reach the level of intensity that jalal has reached will take some more time..jalal's love as mentioned by adi has reached the stage of sufiana where the person accepts the other person as is and indulges himself/herself in a form of peace which in other words is also called deewangi ya phir bandagi..this can be for a lover or even for god..people who become spiritual and feel content with the love of god reach that stage in their life where they feel complete, they are at a stage where they leave all the worldly pleasures and are happy sleeping on the floor where they feel close to earth to god...i will give u an example of someone that i saw with my own eyes...
pl listen to this story..its a real life story..i will not disclose any names due to confidentiality.. when i went india last year i met a foreigner who was living in the gurdwara and out of curiosity i asked whether she belongs to american sikhs..the saint at the temple told me her story..she was the daughter of a very wealthy family residing in london..she married a desi guy because she had interest in sikh religion..the guy pretended to like her and brought her to india and they started living in the city of sikh temples..the guy took all her money and left her with one house..i am getting tears in my eyes while i am writing her story..she was so heart broken that she quit all the worldly pleasures and became a saint..she prays day and night..lives a very simple life..helps those who are in need..and lives with a group of saints in the temple..her father came to take her..she refused to go ..and the saint told us..'eh mastaani ho gayi hai'..means she does not need anybody now..she is fulfilled..she has found the meaning of life..now she is happy and she is living..she loves god and in every human god resides..she has found love and she has become deewaani..mastaani..and can love anyone unconditionally!
while i was writing her story i just came across some beautiful lines on unconditional and conditional love...
In religion, unconditional love is thought to be part of The Four Loves; affection, friendship, romance, and unconditional.
[1] In ethology, or the study of animal behavior, unconditional love would refer to altruism which in turn refers to the behavior by individuals that increases the fitness of another while decreasing the fitness of the individual committing the act. In psychology, unconditional love refers to a state of mind in which one has the goal of increasing the welfare of another, despite any evidence of benefit for oneself.
In conditional love: love is 'earned' on the basis of conscious or unconscious conditions being met by the lover, whereas in unconditional love, love is "given freely" to the loved one "no matter what". Loving is primary. Conditional love requires some kind of finite exchange, whereas unconditional love is seen as infinite and measureless.
with the above explanation one thing is clear that jalal's love has reached the stage where he left his ego his self respect his everything to get his love from his beloved..even upon her refusal of giving love he comes back and talks to her portrait and does what he thinks she would have thought is right..does her bandagi..sleeps in her hojra to feel her ehsaas..prays the way she used to pray so that he can feel the connection with her..talks about her..thinks about her in every action he takes..wants to see her but is happy that she is safe and that he loves her and his love for her will keep him motivated and alive...
on the other hand jodha too feels that she misses him at times..worries about his safety..cares about him..talks about him..but her ego is still stopping her to give that unconditional love and to accept him as he is..here the conditional love has taken over momentarily..the deed done by jalal has shaken her ego..she will go because he is a great shahenshah but to give that unconditional love and to accept him as he is she still needs to walk miles on the path of love before she can feel and resonate in sync with the feelings of her lover her life...
