Panna bai sacrificed her own son to save the prince. That was the pinnacle of loyalty. That is why she is remembered after centuries.
Had Maham not turned evil or let her greed and ambition get the better of her love for Jalal and loyalty for the Sultanate, she would have been remembered as another Panna Bai. But she is now remembered as a thorn in Jalal's life inspite of being his shield in his childhood. For that, she has only herself to blame.

but i differ a bit on some pts.😊

i agree MA nd BK were those two stones who gave support 2 a lonely Kid... dey saved him many times from his own family nd showered compassion on him... but along wid dem dere was also hindal- ruks dad who gave up his own life 2 save him...

but i dont think dat it was ever motherly love 4 jalal from ma... coz even jijianga fed him milk but i dont find her harping on nd on abt her doodh ka karz... in dose days many prince nd princes were brought up by dai-maas... nd i think dat dere was a reason why even after being taken care of by so many dai-maas,, jalal only ever remembers MA...she might have been a favorite of his nd cared 4 him more dan others... but surely something else must be up dere 4 he remembers her contribution more dan others🤔...
i think dere is a diff. b/w motherly love nd compassion... in my pov it was only compassion 2wards dat lonely child...

nd i think dat even MAs compassion 4 jalal was limited only 2 his childhood... nd while grown-up jalal had d same amount of trust nd love 4 his badi-ammi as dat lonely kid... but ma lost it. along d journey of power nd importance...

in d previous epis , when MA realised dat she lost jalal as her son nd was remembering deir mother-son relationship... den note dat she rememberd only his childhood...even MA knows it deep down dat her compassion was limited only 2 jalals childhood... nd after dat she was never his Badi ammi in true sense... after his getting d throne, she knows dat she has defamed dat badi-ammi title more dan wazir when she killed his unborn babies... nd despite d harping she is doing right now dat she has done no wrong.. i guess she is repeating it again nd again in order 2 satisfy nd console her owm heart/mind which is saying opposite...

i know now she is gonna turn more fierce nd full of revenge... but i hope dere comes a day when she truly laments hurting d kid towards whom she was once compassionate about nd manipulated a lot in his later life. nd d one who considered her almost equal 2 god... jalal was so much hurted😭 by d unveiling of only one of d conspiracies of his mother-fig... i dont want 2 imagine how much hurt he would be after d revelation of MAs hand in various MCs nd other conspiracies like d letter paigaam nd all😔...

We don't differ here in opinion at all Neha. I agree with you in toto, and that is what I have expressed in the post too.
MA must have been special to Jalal among all his foster mothers that he holds her so dearly. She has protected him from every harm, risked her life to save his and offered him solace in the worst phase of his life. BK, MA Hindal, they are all held in high regard by Jalal. And yes, MA's compassion was limited to his childhood.
As he grew, her evil grew and her love transformed into endless ambition. And she stooped to levels that even enemies would not dare to. She exploited his love and is now paying the price.
Yes Neha, I too dread the day when Jalal will learn of her hand in Ruqs MC.

There is one difference between MA's lust for power and Ruqaiya's. Ruqaiya will never hurt Jalal in her love of power, while Maham will.

maham wont hurt jalal but certainly people related to him. whereas ruku wont hurt either jalal or his family members or his kids but can hurt the other women related to jalal. but again she wont be harmful like maham. i mean maham can kill others, but ruku wont kill anyone.

jijianga didnt risked bcoz she never got the opportunity. maham almost snatched jalal. she made sure tht noone else comes near jalal. but if given tht opportunity she would have done for sure.

JijiAnga wouldn't have had the nerve or the guts to pull a baby Jalal out of the canon shots for sure. Remember in Ben track, Salima tells Jo that she wouldn't have the courage to come out and shoot arrows at Ben. (That was one of the few episodes in which I adored Jo...😳). But Salima's loyalty to Jalal is not less either. Jodha, MA are all made of loyalty combined with guts and nerve. MA would have retained her very important place in Jalal's life too had she not dug her grave herself.

I'm back with my detailed comments ... Loved the post and your writing style is beautiful, especially the analogies. My comments in underlined below
Akbar Jodha...The end of a chapter
With the expulsion of Maham Anga and her fall in his eyes, ends an entire phase in the life of Jalal.

Maham Anga - An important person in the life of Jalalluddin Mohammad...without whom he wouldn't have been alive to capture his throne, to become the Shahenshah of Hindustan, to become Akbar ultimately. Someone who was ready to sacrifice her life to save the boy...yet someone who killed his child...someone who saved him from every harm and alleviated his pain always...yet gave him awful blows herself...someone whom Jalal trusted completely...yet who shattered his trust beyond repair.

Yes, she is a dichtomy - I still remember how she cried seeing her Jalal in pain after Ruq's MC - we thought she could have done the crime ... But then she cried/laughed as she admitted - it was creepily well done ... As if she lived two realities

They say that school friendships and childhood friendships are always special. The friendship is formed without knowing what the other person is going to become, how big they are going to make it in life and without any hidden agenda.

So was Maham Anga in Jalal's early days. She did not know that he will become a powerful Emperor one day. No, the first hold that Jalal and Bairam Khan got in India was after the Second Battle of Panipet when Jalal was 13 years old. But MA risked her life umpteen times before that to protect Jalal. She sheltered him ignoring her own son, who carried this grudge for years and years. She protected him when he was most vulnerable and suffered for him. She filled the void caused by the absence of his mother. There is no Jalal without BK or MA and their efforts and sacrifices.

But then what went wrong? Why did she stoop so low? Slowly the nasha of power blinded her and she lost all humanism thinking that she could do anything and get away with it. She started trading her mother sentiments to achieve her ends and to retain power. This is what unlimited power does to people who are carried away by it.

It is to Jalal's credit that he was fair always, even before Jo's entry in his life...he retained his humility even when he was at the pinnacle and that is why he became Akbar, the Great.

MA's greed got the better of her love for Jalal that she decided to forget the sanctity of motherhood and took Jalal for granted. She was like the kite that flies high without any regard for the dor, but Jalal has just cut the dor and MA landed on terra firma with a resounding thud. Now she has realised what she has risked, what she has lost. The mother-son relationship that was the basis of all the power she enjoyed...she risked that precious connect to achieve her ends and pat came the reply from God. When He hits, there is no noise but the pain hurts most.

Loved the kite analogy ... 👏

But how could a woman who certainly loved a boy more than her own son, kill his very child to retain power? Is power such a maaya that it destroys the soul of those who are blinded by it? Kaikeyi is also supposed to have loved Raam more than Bharat initially. But power hungriness made her risk and lose everything that was precious in life. She lost the love and respect of her King and her countrymen, she lost the regards her own son who hated her for what she did. She lost her suhaag. She lost name, fame, everything and the delusional power also slipped away after causing havoc. But she did not lose the love of her Raam, who bore no grudge towards her.

I also thought she did it ... Seeing Adham Khan in pain, in the spur of the moment. Not only her power ... But Adham's accusation that she loved Jalal more

But ShriRaam was divine. Our Jalal is human afterall, though a great human being. He cannot be so magnanimous. But he will consider MA's sacrifices too, but the lost regard for his badi ammi is lost forever. He will cry in solitude, but as an Emperor he will give her a befitting punishment for all her evil.

MA too is going to lose her name fame respect and the power as well. But above all she is going to lose her son, a precious son who considered her next to God. A son who bestowed so much of love and affection on her...something that even real sons don't, atleast not to this extent. She is going to lose the very ground that she stands on and weilds her power. This foolish woman has traded her eyes to buy paintings. She is going to pay dearly. She will realize what she has done, but it will be too late. The strong relationship that existed between Jalal and MA has come to an end.

Loved that saying- trade her eyes to buy paintings.
Kudos to Ashwini for portraying the various shades of Maham Anga so beautifully and forcefully.👏

Agreed! And kudos to you to write this post to her!

They say that the death of a relationship is more painful than the death of the relative. And this was a woman Jalal looked on more than a mother...next to God...😭

i completely agree sandhya death of relation is more painful than death of a relative..and if they are spending more time showing those emotions to the T then i think its very much needed...because such is the pain of our jalal that cannot be expressed in words but can only be felt!
