That's one thing I love about this serial.. they've portrayed every character with its grey shades.. no one is purely good or bad...

Even the maha-villain of the show MA... has got a few sympathizers here... and we're able to sit and spare a few words/thoughts as to why she might have turned out so!

@red: except deviji ofcourse...😆
Absolutely no sympathy for MA, but dry pity for what she could have been, and what she has reduced herself to and how illusions and over-ambitions ruin a person.
Lashy, you are absolutely right about grey shaded characters. Even raavan is supposed to have many good qualities. He was very religious, a musician par excellence, and much more. Even Duryodhan inspite of all his evil was a great friend to Karna. Though he might have extended his hand to Karna as he saw in him a worthy challenger to Arjun, the bond eventually strengthened and Karna's death shattered him more than the death of his own brothers.
But Duryodhan's friendship to Karna doesn't justify his evil. MA's initial sacrifices too pale into insignificance considering her cruelty and crookedness. MA is an example of how much one could fall due to one's own doings.

This woman removed everything Jalal favoured or likely to favour more than her, any one she thought would become his weakness and remove her control over him...BK, his children, Jodha...and would have succeeded this time too, if luck had not strongly favoured Jodha many times...
The once caring mother got lost completely in this power-hungry greedy evil and cruel woman.

Achaa, I didn't kno this. May be this is due to my tendency to skip episodes and read updates wen they r not interesting😆 Thxoo for the clarifications guys!

Fabulous post, Sandhya. My thoughts on MA's relationship with Jalal, similar to what I had posted on another thread a few days back:

It was the power of an emotional connect which MA misused with Jalal...this emotional connect gave her a feeling of power: that the Emperor turned to her for emotional support, & that is when she injected her venom into his emotional veins. She loved the emperor to be a puppet in her hands. She loved the power that it gave her, to achieve her selfish means, & her ultimate goal, that to dethrone Jalal & give the throne to Adham.

Maham felt insecure about Jodha because Jodha was encouraging Jalal to think for himself. Jalal was slowly coming out of the evil drugging effect that Maham had injected into his veins since childhood. He was now NOT turning to MA as often for emotional connect, as in the past before Jodha's entry into his life. On the contrary, he was turning to Jodha for that, which was further flushing away Maham's influence on Jalal's mind. So Maham wanted Jodha out of Jalal's life.

Maham's love for Jalal borders on the kind of love that we have for our animal pets...who we love & feed ...& who ONLY have us for EMOTIONAL support...one may be a criminal, a murderer, a terrorist...but his pet will ONLY love him & turn to him for a cuddle. Of course over a period of time, one does develop a "fondness" for the pet. That is what Maham felt for Jalal.

She may have shielded him from physical attacks in his childhood, but her emotional attacks have been brutal beyond imagination. I dread to think of the epi when Jalal will know about MA being the sole reason behind all the foeticides in his harem.

Completely agree with @bold
But MA's fondness for Jalal was not developed in course of time. She was attached to him initially and turned poisonous in course of time. There was a loving mother in her once, long ago whom she willingly and cold-heartedly sacrificed to control Jalal.
But in that scene as MA dropped on the floor horrified at the thought that Jalal cut ties with her, it were those tender moments of mother-son relationship that came to her mind, not her anguish at loss of power or at her truth coming out. As sat waiting to go to DEK, you could again see a glimpse of the mother in her...one who felt for the loss of a son, not her power. 'Jalal ab haemin badi ammi nahin kahenge' - This was the thought that was eating her away.
But just a few glimpses...a few moments...she may be back to her evil very soon with reinforced vengeance. But those few moments made you feel what this woman has allowed greed do to her.
Whether the CVs envisaged that or Ashwini went beyond the script like Rajat to add that extra depth to the character...it was brilliantly done.

I do agree with the fact that both BK and MA did what they did for the child Jalal without knowing how the future events would turn out and hence one can say that their action was purely based on Compassion and not on how events will turn out - and the Universe rewarded them for this act with the undiluted and total Love of Jalal which was not attached to any conditions - yet when their Love turned conditional the Universe pulled the rug from under them - which is why I keep saying that Akbar was one of the Chosen ones with the hand of the Universe on his head.

The main difference between MA and BK is that BK had the guts to challenge Jalal directly without resorting to hurt him by hurting his loved ones - and this ensured that BK's loved ones inturn received such love and care from Jalal himself - while MA did hurt Jalal by hurting those he loved - aur anjaam hume pata hai!!!

Here I would just quote Khalil Gibran on children -

"Your children are not your children, they are the sons and daughters of Life's Longing for itself.
They com from you but not for you, and though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts,
You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are set forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the Archer's hand be for gladness; For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves the bow that is stable"

BK and MA forgot that they were the stable bow for the arrow that was Jalal - and wanted to fly with him - and this brought about their end.

Beautiful Adi
To quote Brutus, There is tears for his love; joy for his
fortune; honour for his valour; and death for his ambition
There was Jalal's unadultered love for all their sacrifices, respect for their loyalty, and downfall for their ambitions.

Absolutely Sandhya, The call of justice has to be met - and meet it Jalal will - yet his sentence will be for the Ambition that killed the integrity - yet I will also say that it will be tinged with Compassion - for her loyalty and for his love

in those days feeding milk to the young princes was a common practice. even pannabai fed udai singh before her own son or even jijianga did the same for jalal. tht doesnt make them bad mothers, tht was considered loyalty towards their kingdom. pannabai sacrificed her own son to save udai singh. but neither panna bai nor jijianga tried to take any advantage.

good post👍🏼
i agree MA nd BK were those two stones who gave support 2 a lonely Kid... dey saved him many times from his own family nd showered compassion on him...
i think dat MAs compassion 4 jalal was limited only 2 his childhood... nd while grown-up jalal had d same amount of trust nd love 4 his badi-ammi as dat lonely kid... but ma lost it. along d journey of power nd importance...

in d previous epis , when MA realised dat she lost jalal as her son nd was remembering deir mother-son relationship... den note dat she rememberd only his childhood...even MA knows it deep down dat her compassion was limited only 2 jalals childhood... nd after dat she was never his Badi ammi in true sense... after his getting d throne, she knows dat she has defamed dat badi-ammi title more dan wazir when she killed his unborn babies... nd despite d harping she is doing right now dat she has done no wrong.. i guess she is repeating it again nd again in order 2 satisfy nd console her owm heart/mind which is saying opposite...

i know now she is gonna turn more fierce nd full of revenge... but i hope dere comes a day when she truly laments hurting d kid towards whom she was once compassionate about nd manipulated a lot in his later life. nd d one who considered her almost equal 2 god... jalal was so much hurted😭 by d unveiling of only one of d conspiracies of his mother-fig... i dont want 2 imagine how much hurt he would be after d revelation of MAs hand in various MCs nd other conspiracies like d letter paigaam nd all😔...

nd i wanna add one more thing... after jalal became d shehanshah, MA has tried her level best 2 eliminate any near dear ones of him... she has tried her best harmed BK, ruks, jodha nd now atgah too... now her problem is dat she wants 2 rule jalals mind nd does not want him 2 take any decision of his own accord... nd i guess it outweighs her good deeds in his childhood😊
