If you are from Delhi or come to Delhi, you should visit the Sulab International Museum for Toilets - It will give you a complete history on the sanitation of the world.

As for Mughals - they brought in the concept of the 'Ghusalkhana' in 1556 and the first public toilet was also built in India in 1556 by Mughals.

Hi Adi,
๐Ÿ˜Š
Have a confusion.

I ALSO got this info, nearly similar as yours from a friend of mine. ->> " Jahangir built a public toilet at Alwar, 120 kms from Delhi for the use of 100 families in 1556."

Now, in this most probably the year is wrong.๐Ÿ˜• Coz Jahangir was born in 1569. Hence, how can he get that structure built in 1556.๐Ÿ˜•

Also, one more thing is that, around 1556, Alwar(called "Ulwar" that time) was under Barhgujar rulers, who were STRONG adversaries of Mughals.๐Ÿ˜•
So, how can a Mughal ruler carry on building activity there..๐Ÿ˜•

Another thing, in 1556, Mughal forces fought the Second battle of Panipat, against Samrat Hem Chandra VIkramaditya, (or Hemu). And seems, he was beheaded in this battle. After this battle, the Mughal forces ransacked this area TOO BADLY.

The reason given is that Hemu belonged to this area, and after this battle it this area was attacked for revenge.๐Ÿคข So, why would they build a facility for public use, in this area. I mean in this area, which was a territory of their "dushmans". ๐Ÿ˜•

I feel this year is probably doubtful. Or something is doubtful. I was thinking so posted this.
Either name of Jahangir is wrong or this year. But most chances are regarding this year.

Though, Sulabh International used this year only.
And, even a research paper was presented with this information, in an International event.๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜•(i am confused..!...What is this going on.๐Ÿ˜•.)

Abhay my feeling is that the year is correct since it coincides with the introduction of the Ghusalkhana the same year. The place and person (Jehangir) may be incorrect.

Yes Adi.
Something has to be wrong in that info.

Because the name of the Emperor and the year does not match.๐Ÿ˜•
I am also giving the link of that research paper. And i was shocked after reading it that such blunder can happen in an International Symposium.๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜ฒ This symposium took place in Hong Kong.

Click here for that paper's Link.

This link contains the history of sanitation systems in the world(including India).
(Same as what is in the Sulabh Museum in Delhi)

BTW, Adi, if possible check the Sulabh International Museum in Delhi again. ๐Ÿ˜Š
I feel that they have ALSO done this blunder.
I mean, check if they have also ALSO used the name of Jahangir along with the year 1556.

I doubt this because, the author of this paper is Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak itself, who is the founder of Sulabh Intenational Social Service Foundation.๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Abhay, sorry for disturbing. Had one query. But I also have one answer. Please tell me if it is correct. If it is wrong, then please clarify, as we were discussing this in Ela's thread.
Question
: Is Salima Gulbadan Begum's daughter?
My Answer: Salima and Ruqaiyya are cousins but Salima is NOT gulbadan's daughter. Gulbadan Begum was married early and as far as I know she had only one son. Gulbadan Begum had many brothers and sisters including Humayan, Hindal Mirza and Gulrang Begum. Salima is the daughter of Gulrang Begum, Jalal is Humayan's, while Ruq is Hindal Mirza's daughter. In short, she is aunt of Salima, Ruq and Jalal and all these three are cousins๐Ÿ˜›

I am wondering about Adham end, see he is asked to go to war (just before Jalal-Ben wedding which he say will go after it) and we never saw him go anywhere๐Ÿ˜•

So did Adham go to some war and in the meanwhile MA lost her prominence to Adga Khan?

The killing of Adga Khan and after that haram attack by Adham, - is there any mention of Javeda in your research - what happened to her?

Also in any of your 4 threads have you written about Sharifuddin end?
(I read that he was ordered to be killed by elephants?!!!!)

Maddy,
Though i am LATE in this reply.
And, already it has been shown in the serial that Adham went on war to Malwa.

Yes, in reality ALSO Adham was sent to Malwa. This is the Second expedition.
But, Adham will be called back.๐Ÿ˜‰ Just wait and Watch.
This is because he assumed INDEPENDENT AIRS in Malwa, though he was TOLD to co-operate with Pir Muhammed.๐Ÿ˜•

And, in his place Abdullah Khan will be sent to Malwa. (some others also). And, on coming back he will find that Atga Khan has gained a lot of clout. And, he himself has lost a lot of power.๐Ÿ˜•
Also, his financal irregularities will be caught by Atga Khan.

Credit - KDR81:
Yes, Sharifuddin was ordered to be killed by elephants, on orders of Masum/Mansum Khan.

And, the date was around 15-16 February, 1581.
He was a 'Shahi' Mansabdar of rank of 'paanch-hazaari', that is, 5000.

Regarding Javeda, see my comment on another thread::

Maddy,

I told fun stuff because, MA, Adham and Co. will see power slipping away from their hands.

Regarding, 'scatter brain' Javeda. I don't have CONCRETE info, at present.๐Ÿ˜Š

BUT
I know Jalal got Adham married in 1559-60.(in his 4th reignal year.)
Adham's Father in Law, Md. Baqi Baqlani, was also in Maham's team.๐Ÿ˜•
He was among those set of people along with Maham Anga, who played a role in 'bhadkaofying' Jalal against Bairam Khan.

There is some mention about him in Akbarnama, Vol.2, Pg-142, also. Pehaps that was some secret information/conspiracy involving him and MA.
Abul Fazl has not described this OPENLY. Even i don't know exactly what was that..!..
I did not try to search also..!.. See, Maham is an all-rounder..๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜•

Infact, Maham Anga had appointed Munim Khan as the Wakil .
Munim Khan was a close confident of Maham.๐Ÿ˜‰
Atga's appointment, aroused insecurity among Munim, Maham and Adham.

More details in the update regarding Adham's end, in a few days.๐Ÿ˜Š

Yes, this is same Munim Khan, who went to Kabul.
Yes, close to MA, since he was appointed by MA (infact..๐Ÿ˜‰!!..) to the post of Wakil.

Regarding his mix up with MH and his mom, this link has some info.
https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/98657498

I would leave his loyalty to be ascertained by following events.

1. He was in service, since Humayun's reign
2. He was the "Wakil", before losing the post to Atga Khan
3. He was one of those nobles who instigated Adham Khan against Atga Khan.๐Ÿ˜•

After Atga's murder, he and other conspirators escaped from Agra Palace, fearing punishment.
At this moment ALSO, he had the title of Khan-i-Khanan, Wakalat(office of minister), and Ataliq(tutor).
He was arrested and brought to the court, then forgiven and reinstated in his office.๐Ÿ˜•

4. Next, he was appointed the subedar of important Subah of Jaunpur in 1564.
5. Later, he rose to become the governor of Bihar/Bengal around 1574/5, before dying on 23 Ocober 1575, in an epidemic(plague).

He was sent by Akbar to handle Daud Khan in 1574, the king of Bengal, who was defeated in 2nd attempt. Then, he was made governor of Bengal/Bihar. Later, after his death Daud Khan again re-captured parts of his lost territory.

I just NOW answered this in a PM also.

For Salima Sultan Begum
Mom -> Gul'RUKH' Begum not Gul'rang'..๐Ÿ˜Š
Father -> Sayyid Nur-ud-din Mirza (Humayun-Nama page-134)

Gul 'rang' begum was a daughter of Babur.
Means, Gul'rang' / Gul'badan' / Gul'rukh' were daughters of Babur.

Yes, Gulbadan Begum had many sisters and brothers, including what you wrote.

Kamran and Askari were Gul'rukh' Begum's sons.
Ruqayya was Hindal Mirza's daughter.
Yes, Salima, Ruqs and Jalal were cousins.

Actually, the names are so confusing.๐Ÿ˜• I hope i did not do any typo error here.๐Ÿ˜†

Adham to be called back , that means we won't be seeing Jalal secretly galloping with a few trusted soldiers to Malwa to catch him red handed.
