But, I have a question, please dont' get me wrong this time.

This is regarding the confusion of Ajmer Sharif - Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti - his muqbara is in Ajmer and he was the decendant of Salim Chisti . Ajmer is pretty far off from Agra.

But, this Saint Salim Chisti lived in Sikhri village which is only about 26 miles of less than 50 KMs from Agra. Thats why Akbar or his family members undertook Padayatra there a few times I guess.

I remember reading somewhere that apart from Jodha Akbar's visit there previously for "mannat", he also made her stay there when she became pregnant in Fatehpur Sikhri coz, he wanted Salim to be born there at that blessed place.

Please correct me if am wrong in my observation and clarify.

No, i didn't take you wrong.😊

So, now regarding your questions.

It was other way round, i.e., Sheikh Salim Chisti was a descendant of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.

And, regarding 'padyatras/walks'.
Walks were undertaken to the Ajmer Dargah as well, despite long distance.😊 I remember one such 'padyatra', where Akbar in January, 1570, went to the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer, and completed his journey, walking. The distance walked was over 350 kms.

Yes, MUZ was taken, to Sikri during pregnancy (Salim), since that was considered to be an auspicious place, as Sheikh Salim Chisti resided in Sikri, and she stayed in Rang Mahal.

(Explicit mention
-->> Barring "FEW MINOR" interruptions due to affairs of Sultanate, Akbar ALSO stayed with her in Rang Mahal .!.😊)

Just wanted to add something in above comment.
The date of starting this trip was 20 January, 1570.
And, it was completed in 16 phases. 😊

Thank you Abhay for that additional information about his pilgirimage. 👍🏼

Wow.. 16 phases.. is it like that many times he put up tents for his huge entourage ..? interesting to note, how all people including the Kings undertook such treacherous journeys on pilgrimages. 😊

Wondering... now, we all are complaining and whining now a days when there are some discomfort in any of the remote pilgrim sites

Also.. nice analysis about dyslexia .. very true that Akbar's illiteracy was circumstancial and he did not push himself to read and write during adulthood. But, he did regret this failure and he always surrounded himself with scholars from various sects. Said that he had photogenic memory and was a marvelous engineer in his own right. Had read that he had designed his own weapons and would spend hours in carpentry, etc.

Thanks again

Ayushi,
For your question above.😊
It seems you want to confirm about those 5000 women in Akbar's harem, which PEOPLE CLAIM as his wives/concubines.😕

So, as per HISTORY, following is the answer.😊 I have written this at various places. So, re-posting again.

*********************************************************************************************************

Akbar DID NOT have 5000 concubines
.🤢

Following is a piece of REALITY CHECK.

How things are blown out of proportion by some authors, who write any non-sense in their books, hatching any new story, 😕 and spread these false news every where.

OK. The final issue:
This issue of 5000 concubines aroused from Digital Media and some books, who "claim" that Abul Fazl mentioned this in his accounts.🤢 This is another creation by the GM of the Digital Media, and then blown out of proportion by "so-called MODERN historians".

Abul Fazl DID Not say that these are concubines.
Though he puts the number at 5000, but that is again not in a literal sense, and he does NOT say these are concubines. Also, seeing the size of the Imperial Harem complex, this number is vastly exaggerated by Abul Fazl, just for showing the "might/praise" of His Majesty. 😆

*******************************************************************************************************

And, if you read gov. accounts, this issue is clearly sorted out there. That, Fazl has given a highly exaggerated number. 😊

Actually, Abul Fazl in Ain-e-Akbari, said that, harem includes the following:

1. Darogahs
2. Superintendents
3. Writers of Harem
4. Accountant of Cash
5. Accountant of Stores
6. Taha-wil-daars
7. General Treasurers
8. Sub - Taha-wil-daars
9. Eunuchs for guard
10. Other Administrators
11. Cooks
12. Menials
🥱
Finally, add to this :
13. Foster mothers
14. Foster sisters
15. Own wives
16. So called "other" wives
17. Other Royal Princesses
18. And, the progeny of ALL above
19. Point to be noted --> "Each Royal Lady ALSO had Multiple guards / maids".

I Need not write more. Hope the issue is cleared and the perception of "5000" won't haunt us again.!. And, select sources carefully, for your research.😊

For those, who still have a doubt, please read yourself, though i don't want to give this reference, but still giving coz, it was from here the original problem started. 😊

Ain-e-Akbari, by Abul Fazl, Volume-1, Page-44, Original Persian Translation, By ASB

Neither Akbar had 5000 concubines. Nor he had hundreds of wives.

Adi,

Small correction. Records state that the above mentioned pilgrimage of Ajmer was started on 13, Shaban, 977. That translates to 20 January, 1570. By mistake, i got it 1572.(mathematical error). I have edited it now. 😊

Now, the main issue:

Daniyal's DOB.😕.?..
Right now all 3 of us are not sure on this issue. (search is ON.)

Yes, Daniyal was born in 1572 but later, not in April(as per info which we have right NOW). In the house of Sheikh Daniyal in Ajmer.

I have DOB, but, would NOT claim assurity.
DOB --> 3 Jumaada-Al-Awal 980 , that translates to, 10/11 September, 1572.

This DOB is further reinforced from the following fact: -->

"
Akbar marched out of Fatehpur Sikri on 23 Safar 980, that translates to, 4 July, 1572 (means after April). He planned to annex Gujarat, taking hunting as a pretext. 😉
This event is also recorded in the Imperial Bombay Gazetteer of 1896, page-544/45, as he had made elaborate arrangements to ward off any interference from the Marwar side.

He was between Ajmer and Nagaur, at Phalodi, (in present day Jodhpur ), when he got news of birth of Daniyal. And, he stopped his entourage at Nagaur.
"

I did this exercise of writing these details, just to remove the confusion of Daniyal's DOB. So, it SEEMS that Daniyal was born later, than April, coz Akbar started for Gujarat in July, and after that the documentation of Daniyal's birth is mentioned.
And, so now you can see, about the theory. 😊

Another addition to this information:
There is a picture from Akbarnama itself describing this incident:

Akbar had vowed that if he should be blessed with a son, he would walk to the shrine of the founder of the Chishti order, Shaikh Mu'in-ud-Din Chishti, at Ajmer to offer his prayers. He left Agra in January 1570, and swiftly covered the 370 kilometers. He is depicted here accompanied by servants carrying emblems of royalty.

Abul Fazl, in the Ain-i Akbari, the third volume, notes that whenever the emperor went out in a formal context, five standards would be carried next to him, as well as the qur, a collection of flags and other insignia. These were all wrapped in red cloth, the colour of royalty.

The aftabgir, a shade held over the emperor's head and seen here, was also on Abul Fazl's list of royal emblems. While in Ajmer, Akbar distributed alms at the shrine, visited other local sacred places, and ordered the construction of new mosques.

Painted in opaque watercolour and gold on paper, Akbar is at the centre of the composition, dressed in white, walking across a landscape during his pilgrimage on foot to Ajmer in thanksgiving for the birth of Prince Salim. Servants follow him, bearing emblems of royalty including a sunshade. Panels of Persian text are pasted onto the painting in panels at top and bottom.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

This is just super information. The painting is so detail and you have given even more information about it.

Are there more paintings like this? Depicting particular events from Jodha Akbar's life?
