As Abhay said the attack was a sudden but well planned by Sher Shah @ night. Humayun made a blunder by not attacking the Afghans/Sher Shah and hence both armies had to encamp for about 3 months due to rainy season. In the meantime Humayun's situation became critical as he got no aid from any other ruler. He and Bairam Khan hence tried to negotiate peace with Afghans. Sher Shah said to be agreed on reading the khutba on Humayun's name when Humayun agreed to retain Bihar and Bengal to Surs. As the talks were going on, Mughal army was relaxed and Sher Shah suddenly attacked @ dawn/midnight. This might be the reason Mughals called them traitors. The Afghans did kill women/kids/men who were asleep. Bega Begum and many ladies of his harem and servants were accompanying Humayun.

Thnx for sharing.😊

@bold
This was the offer/trap of Sher Shah.

Humayun was encamped at western side of Karmanasa river. Front side was also guarded by the river. And, he still had Chunar with him at back side. Now, he had to fight Afghans only from 1 side.
But, he did the blunder (mislead by a peace agreement) of crossing the Karmanasa river from east, and hence exposed him to Afghans, from west and east, who then wrecked havoc LATER, as said here...!..

you know Abhay, jitna maine Humayun ke baare mein padha hai, I totally loved him..he was a very kind emperor..and a man with a heart of gold.

only coz of him I was interested to watch JA..kyukii jiska baap itna accha insaan tha to know uska beta kaisa hoga..before JA, I knew about Jalal's childhood only.

Tamy Dear,
Aksar Addicts bohot Dariya-Dil insaan hotey hai....šŸ˜†šŸ˜‰ Becoz they are mostly in their own seventh Heaven...🤣 (NOM)
His fall too was largely due to the fact that his body-balance was severely affected by his habits...šŸ˜’

But yes, he indeed was a very well versed person , as was his father Babur...it's a pity that his own son did not learn to read/write...😳

Regards,
Kamal

Pallavi,

There is no scope for confusion.😊 Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer, popularly called Gharib Nawaz holds the credit of popularising Sufism in India. He was called Gharib Nawaz, as he was famous for his charity and generosity. He existed around 12th/13th century.

And, right now in show, we are around 1562-63(16th century). So, when Akbar & co, went to Gharib Nawaz Sahab dargah in Ajmer, it was the shrine. And, in Agra, Sheikh Salim Chisti is very much present now. Hope this clears.😊

Also --> As it is explicitly mentioned in above post, that these Khwajas were not related to blood relation always. So, in following link, another clarification--> Hussain also, was related to Khwaja Bahauddin Bukhari, but was NOT a direct descendent.😊
https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/100493899

BTW, it's clear otherwise also, these Khawajas were like the present system of Pope in Christianity, who are also NOT neccessarily related by BLOOD.!. This is just an analogy. Nothing more..! 😊

Concise and very informative...thanks!!!!

Yes, SUR empire was --> 1540-55.
Sher Shah died in 1545, after getting severely injured in a gun powder explosion.

Humayun DID NOT fight against Sher Shah in 1555, since Sher Shah was dead, by 1545.
After that Islam Shah, Sher Shah's son, ruled till he died in 1554.
BTW, during entire rule Islam Shah was engaged in rebellions, raised by his brothers and tribal feudals among the Afghans.

So, after Islam Shah's death, Humayun fought 2 hotly contested battles in 1555, defeated Afghans and recovered Delhi and Agra.

Yes, Humayun died after falling from the steps of library --> called Sher-i-Mandal, in Old Fort, Delhi.

The fort you are talking about--> Construction was started by Sher Shah, but some additions were made by Humayun. 😊

thanx abhay for this detail information.

@ Abhay ,Lizzy nd Kamal
You guys are doing a wonderful job and I have immensely enjoyed reading your updates. My entire perspective of the show has changed after reading your research findings..

One small doubt has been at there at the back of my mind since long...It's about Ruqayya ...as off now they are showing her to be more of a negative character in the show. Was the relationship between Jodha and Ruqayya really sour coz I have heard that Salim had grown up more under the care of Ruqayya and I guess no mother would trust her child with a woman with whom she doesn't have good vibes.

Am asking this coz Ruqayya seems to be a mixed bag at times...so is there a chance that her relations with Jodha improved later on ( how I wish for it...coz I do like Ruqayya without her audha attitude of course..It's just that she seems to be easily influenced by others most of the times) Can you please throw some light on this??

Thanks in advance !!
