Dear Shyamala,
Thanks for the wise write up.
Jalal silenced everyone including Ruqaiya and his Badi Ammi about the forcible conversion of Jodha from Hindu to Musulman. But never ever he told them that he doesn't want her to be a Muslim. So when Ruquaya told him about their purpose of being in Jodha's room was to put some inteligence into her thick skull and make her mind ready for conversion before the the Maulvis pounce on his throne, was stopped by Jalal, for teh same reason that he had promised her that no one will force her to chsnge her religion against her wishes and he will stand by his words and reprimands Ruqaiya that his (Mughal Sultanate's) words are more important than the Mughal throne. If you could make out, he was pinning on Jodha's acceptance instead she chose to talk to HB and HB burst the hopes of the Mughals by supporting Jodha & Jalal's stand.
Yet again he made it clear to the clergy's that since he has given his word to Jodha begum even before his marriage to her that she can sustain her religion. So he will not force her to change it now just because his throne is shaking instead he offers that he would nominate Raheem for the throne after him (Sorry for changing from Jodha , Jalal, I could not see any shock waves on Either Adham Khan or Shareefuddin's face as expected. When they were aiming for dethroning Jalal, they were visualizing themselves on the throne, so how come they were so normal or casual to Jalal's declaration). He clearly said that conversion can happen only if she (Jodha) wishes to convert... He was clearly anticipating Jodha to volunteer to accept the conversion as it would hve showed her understanding / love/ like / care for him or at the least gratitude for what all he has done for her and her family. Only if she had trusted him and given the choice to him, he would have rejoiced and would have made hell & heaven meet to retain her religion as well as his throne. When Jodha passed on the ball to HB's court, he was disappointed and when HB declared that she wishes that her Bahu to change her religion, he was devasted. Later whatever happened was not to his liking, it was like even his Ammijan has played behing his back and didn't trust him. Though she whatever she did was for his benefit, at that moment he was hurt that being a Shehansha, if he could not realise his mom had sent a Paigam to Ajmeir and is expecting the answer, neither he nor his intelligence league were not even aware of it has shocked him to the core. (1st fall out from a lady)
After that when he went to Jodha, he was expecting her to harp on him but not before he voices out his justification. We really don't know what he wanted to tell for the 6th month born Jodha started her monologue by tellig him taht she will not say thank you for fulfilling one vachan while you have deprived me of a more important Vachan the previous night. GOd, I was about to pull my hair, luckily I was all alone watching teh show, so no one to comment on my facial expressions. (Here I can advocate Pratap for his better judgement than Jodha ). So he took the pain to explain her that as a husband he had wrapped her with Black cloth to give additional heat than eveloping her body with his arms. Thogh he joked about her imagination, he still would have enjoyed it and would have visualized it but he left disappointed with her outburst. Atleast Jodha could have thanked him after his revealation of EPIC BLACK CLOTH story. (2nd fall out)
Then comes his favourite Begum, who lashed her tongue too fast. She could have waited ofr him to confine in her about the whole Amer Trip and its fruits. She could have waited for him to turn into her Room and cajoled him for the details no, she was a bit insecure with all the intelligence report and the happenings on reaching Agra. So she pumped him all the news (which he would have told her and asked for her opinion about the culprit) about The Drugged Elephant, Snow storm and Jodha and Jalal went lost in that storm (means her intellgence could not tell her Joda left first and later Jalal followed her). This only irked him more and all teh frustration of teh day was vented out on her by a simple phrase of words that "it is true that I and Jodha shaed teh ame room" which burnt the fuse of her confidence. Had she waited for some time and analysed his words, she would have realized nothing transformed in his & Jodha's relation but it stopped only at sharing the room but she was in a hurrey to show off her source of newws by telling him, that being his wife, she has to keep tab of him to safeguard his interest. God, this is the 3rd blow to his EGO "I am Shehansha".
So all in all, all his frustration from the happenings from raged elephant to the Conversion, was taken a toll on his patience and he ventyed that to Ruqaiya by saying, yes, your intelloigence did a fab job and I shared the room with Jodha.
Coming back to his subjects, I don't think he was ready to abandon his subjects, he was anticipating Jodha's consent for conversion. Also he had a Wazeer (MA) who could advocate his case and win it for him and worst come worst, he would have throned Raheem as the emperor and would have retained the reigns of the administration in his hands. If he was ready to abandon his people, he would have said as you wish, and pepe around him would have grabbed the opportunity to their hand and taken the throne (Shareef & Adham) but he chose Raheem, so whether it is he as a godfather or the entire ministers had to safeguard the king as well as the kingdom, if the clergy's had asked him to step down.

The episode ended well with Religion issue sorted out quickly and also Jodha got her answer. Who has leaked the information may be Shariff as adham didn't . Ruku may be, but she very well knows what happens, but may be she though Jalaal give more importance to the Shahansha, and will make Jodha convert her religion. I have more shaq on Shariff.

How did Hamida knew the message will come from khawaaja Chisti ? Did she sent the information herself in Ameer itself, as she knew Moulavis can make an objection of Jalaal going to temple?

Hope after this body heat incident Jodha realize Jalaal is not after physical relationship will not break the promise and be normal with him.

The best dialogue " Kalme mein aur mantra mein kya farak hai? Kucch nahin " I episode seemed rushed.

Ruku may felt jealous before also when he spent night with other women in Harem, but Jalaal didn't show any interest in other women and he spent most of his time in Ruku Kheema, but now with Jodha the equation is changing.

I think Jalaal knew Ruku nature spying, showing haq on him before, but he didn't liking it as it is related to Jodha and himself. Jalaal himself doesn't know why he is being pulled towards Jodha even knowing her behaviour.

Even though Ruku has right to ask jalaal of that night, what iriked Jalaal is her spying and he feels she trying to control him.

this has to be the one episode where I've read it all

Some supporting Ruqs some against her
Some supporting Jalal some against him
Few supporting Jodha most against her
Many supporting HB, few against her
All within 1 epi!

This episode has brought about the most varied viewer response I've ever seen 😆 How can everyone have such different viewpoints/takes on the same screenplay..just goes to show that as human beings - the scope of how differently we get affected by emotions is very vast!😊

The best part of the episode was the Salim Chisti's part. He explained the thing so beautifully. I was in awe. The way he described that a religion canny be forced upon one. They have to love it to accept it. Amazing part.

Now coming to the point Jalal. He has an amazing character! He is a true Shehensha. But yesterday he made me feel that something is missing. Why was he so quite?? People were talking rubbish but he still kept quite. Only saying that he will leave the throne and Rahim is the next one?? I expected something more for him. But that is totally my POV.

I didn't like the fact that they showed Hoshiyaar giving news to Ruqqaiya.. I mean like people there are spies here!

No comments on Jodha's behavior!

hello Aunty. read your post and completely enjoyed it too. I do agree in some points. Like, the show had started with theme of transformation of a flawed Akbar into Akbar the great and a great human being, with the entry of a perfect Jodha in his life. but what we constantly get to see is more or less perfect Akbar, and a flawed Jodha. the fact that the CVs deliberately show Jodha to be not only a thankless and ungrateful person but rude and insensitive too, is a bit too much for my liking. plus t is hard fact to digest that a princess can be lacking in such basic formalities and mannerisms, especially in that age when the Rajput princesses were taught so much. he fact that when it is clear that rajputs andour Ameri Mirchi carried much justified pride in themselves, then how is it possible that jodha has completely no qualms in continuing to only accept favours after favours from Jalaal; especially when she doesn't love him. how is it possible that she has nothing to give him in return.

In regard to Ruqaiya, she is a complex character and as u said, Smilie used to portray her complex emotions very well. But nevertheless, till now it is shown that Ruqaiya does love Jalaal, but she hasn't even told this to herself till now. For her Jalaal has no heart,a nd thus she believes in controlling him, and ruling over him.her childhood friendship with him is a huge asset to her. Maybe she was unable to bring out softe or more humane sides of Jalaal. As the period in which she was with Jalaal was the period of Jalaal's struggle, and conquests, wile he became the Shehanshah of Hindustan. All of these which required more brain and less heart in initial atages. but now when jodha has entered Jalaal's life, this period will co-inciide with the fact that Akbar transformed himself from just another Mughal emperor to Akbar the great. some one who is still respected and accepted till now, across religions and races. Which meant making strong of the foundations of his empire which he had built already till now. Maybe thats why ruqaiya either never got to see this other side of Jalaal, or in the process of supporting Jalaal with her brains, she never thought about heart!

Jalaal considers Ruqaiya his best friend and confidante, and he himself shares everything with her. There was never any real need for Ruqaiya to spy on Jalaal or to keep tabs on him. So, it was but natural reaction of Jalaal to comment that 'aap hum par nazar rakh rahin thi'. i didn't found anything odd in it. one thing more, in the process of Jalaal's encounter with his heart, even Ruqiya would find a beating heart inside her, which not only supplies her brain enough energy, but also her emotions enough fodder..

As for Jalaal's requirement of giving more importance to find a middle way between his rajdharma and personal vachan. I do agree with it, but most of the times, i am only satisfied with watching Rajat's brilliant acting and portrayal. So either don't notice much or ignore what i do notice.

Black Cloth thing: well the way you said was hilarious and could not help but enjoy. But maybe it would've been better if instead of a black cloth, a black warm blanket ans fire weer mentioned!

It was indded one episode which covered MA, HB, Jodha and Ruqaiya and their common relation is Jalal. If there can be difference of opinion amongst the 4, then it is obvious that we will have different opinions. But the more you read the posts, the more changed or challenged will be your view.

A very well written and nice post, I must say. 👏
I agree with most of what you have written specially about Jalal, Ruq and that black cloth...
Jalal: I was actually disappointed to see him giving up his throne for merely a Vacchan. I'm not saying he should have pressurized Jodha into conversion but I expected him to put his fight infront of the maulvis at the Deewan-e-khaas. I would have loved to see a Jalal putting every reasonable fact infront of the maulvis and let them know that forcing someone into accepting Islam is crime and also that Mughal Sultanate would have face a great amount of risks and problems if he had been dethrone. But no he didn't put any fight instead he was willing to give up the throne...Seriously...I mean I know by this the Cvs wanted to potray how pakka of his Zabaan the Shahanshah is but for a Shahenshah his empire comes first...And its stupid to see a Shahenshah who always wanted to rule the whole India is so easily putting down his throne for merely a Vacchan. I really wasn't impressed at all.
Jodha: Well I have a different take on her. Religion was and still is a very huge thing. Giving up someone's religion is like giving up their own identity. There had been brutal fights all over the world because of this religion thing. For Jodha who is so religious is the hardest thing to do. I know Jalal had done a lot for her and her family but I think is not reason enough to give up her religion. And one thing more she doesn't love him. It's not like she didn't care of Mughal Sultanate, she did in my view as if she would haven't she would have never given the decision making to Hameeda and would have straightly said that she doesn't want to convert going by her characterization. But she did give the whole decision making into Hameeda's hand as she knew she would take a justified decision as she loves both Jalal and Jodha and is much aware of the Mughal Sultanate then Jodha is. Jodha wasn't willing to give up her religion was justified in my views. And I think by showing Jodha agreeing to take up Islam for the sake of Jalal would have called for more protest from a lot of people. So I think by showing Jodha giving up the decision making into hand of Hameed, CVs tried to play a safe game.
Ruqaiya: I feel really bad for her as she is on the path of one-sided-love. She loves Jalal and all that forcing Jodha and everything was justified as she is a wife who would do everything to protect her husband. And I have seen people accusing her of being power hungry and all. So what? Ruq does starve for more and more power but that is how it was. At that time all the women were power seeker and so is Ruq. Ruq loves power, precious gifts and is always demanding one thing or other from Jalal but I don't think it's bad; yes it's selfish but not bad. And this will never let me qns her love for Jalal, as she really does love him and you can clearly witness it that at the time of the tiger attack. And I do agree in the precap she seems more of being hurt. I wish Jalal will not sideline his relationship with Ruq just because he has found his Dil and love for Jodha. I am truly in a Jodha-Jalal team but still I don't want Ruq to be treated as a forgotten thing by Jalal as she was the one standing with him when he thought he didn't have a heart and I really don't want Cvs to change her shade of character completely into black. I love her grey shades.
As for the precap, I loved it and hoping it will be a new beginning for JJ. And I really hope it won't be like one step forward - two step backward kind of a thing. And as for that Jalal-Ruq conversation in the end, I think there is more to it. So I will wait for today to see how I turns up and then have my view.
And for that black cloth, it had me in split. I mean seriously, does Cvs thinks that dumb of thier viewers that they thought they can get away with it without being noticed? A black cloth absorbs heat doesn't generates it on its own...It was more stupid to hear it form someone like Jalal who is indeed very smart. But one thing i liked about Jalal in yest epi and that was his dialogues to Jodha that he was keeping all the information regarding that night away from her as to give her punishment for questioning the Shahenshah.😉

P.S.: I love Darcy and Rhett equally mainly because Elizabeth was different than of Scarlet. And again really nice post and a belated Happy Diwali.😊

He was trying to visualize who could have been teh culprit who would have conveyed the message which of his temple visit and him bowing down to teh goddess as only few people were aware of it. all of those were his close ones (apna) and when he asked Shareef about what is it that teh clergys say, Shereef was too enthusiastic to tell him that "either Jodha convert to Islam or leave the Mughal Sultanate" he was taken aback by that statement as he didn't thnk that those were the words of Maulvis. So he was analysing the situation and hence played his googly by mentioning that he will appoint Raheem to be crowned, to read the mass Psychology on his decision.

Ahhh!!! I forget to add one thing about Jalal...I really liked how he took his stand infront of Ruq and Maham when he said he wont force Jodha to convert into Islam and that he never want anyone to pay for his own doing...I just loved him in that scene...👏😳
