Lashy it was a nice episode.
I am also wondering if Jalaal will allow Ruqaiya to misunderstand what really happened or will he clarify? I sense an irritation that was not there before in his interactions with Ruqaiya. Or it could be just the changes we are seeing in Jalaal himself who is not much more ready to take decisions on his own and realizes to some degree that even those close to him may betray him. Jalaa may be allowing Ruq to misunderstand the situation so that he can establish some boundaries with her. Earlier we saw how he did not like her interfering with his decision to go to Amer. I am interested to see how this conversation ends.
Jodha now has lost her reasons for her hatred (other then it has become habitual and habits are hard to change). I hope we see more moments of civility between Jodha and Jalaal as we saw in the precap;

Lashy, nice post!πŸ‘πŸΌ
The whole episode though seemed rather lackluster to me. Your post makes it seem better than it was :)

Why is Jodha such an ungrateful wench? Could she not have said while I appreciate your support and refusal to force me to convert I'm still angry that you broke your promise over body heat? Why is she sooo ungracious?

Anyway thats a small gripe. What really bothered me was how easily Jalal was so cruel to Ruqqaiya. Jalal knows that she comes in various shades of grey, however I thought it was so admirable that he never judged his best friend and accepted her as she was. So why the surprise that she spied on you now Jalal? It was all peachy while you joined her in scheming but now suddenly you decide punish her for being who she is? I really didnt like how cold he was. And him telling her about the night not only cheapened his concern and affection for Jodha, it was also a slap in the face for ruqs for carrying on as usually does. He would have been more than happy had her spying helped him in anyway, esp if he was alone and in danger. I guess I should be happy he didnt tell her that he asked Jo stay with him every night at Amer. Anyway, this was coming, him getting close to Jo implied this would happen some day. Anyway I thought he would rise above it. Well show is not over, so there is hope that he will not hurt her just because he found a new someone someone. I really didnt expect this from him. I know he told her because he was annoyed by her not trusting him but I wish he had reigned in his temper like he does with Jodha.

And contrary to popular opinion I didnt see jealousy in Ruqs face in the precap. I know its coming but I felt like I saw pain on her face for now. The pain of unrequited love. Of loving someone and waiting for them to see your whole life only to realize that it might not happen at all. Hopefully CVs will redeem Ruqs, maybe they wont but today I felt so bad for her. Its hard to be in love with someone and watch them walk away. Ask Sanjay leela Bhansali πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ƒ

Anyway I will be one getting a slap on the cheek if they completely push Ruqs over to the other side tomorrow.

On a lighter note, I liked how in one glance at jodha, he understood that she was hurt and proceeded to defend her against Ruqs and MA. Everything else he did today was awesome!

Lashy dear,

Neither a black cloth nor a blanket can conserve heat that does not exist in a half frozen body, and what is needed is an external source of heat, like brandy or maybe a blazing fire. Neither of which needed Jalal, So please refrain from pinch hitting for the CVs, there is a good girl!πŸ˜‰ What is abysmal is abysmal, and that is it. The body double track was, once one admitted the existence of an unrelated look alike (and that is a common feature in literature, from The Prisoner of Zenda to Daphne du Maurier's The Scapegoat) , nowhere near as stupid as this one.

What riles me is that this is beginning to resemble the endless fake DNA reports and fake duration of pregnancy reports in PR, plus the total farce that was periodically shown there in terms of court procedures. If the CVs take the viewers so much for granted, AND are excused even by the likes of you, how then can one complain any longer? They will take heart from the rapturous reception to this episode and dish out even worse things next time around.

As far as Darcy is concerned, I did not mean that he was unlikeable, how would I ever say such a thing? Merely that he did all the running, and Elizabeth none; it was enough for him that she existed, and that she thought well of him.

It is the same here. Except that Jodha is nowhere near as intelligent as Elizabeth Bennet.

As for Jalal, what you are saying here, and what you had responded to Kamal on my thread amount to this: Jalal treats Jodha like a somewhat retarded child, whom he loves to cherish, indulge and tease.

She accepts it all with an unparalleled sense of entitlement, but for what puzzles me. She does not care for him, for if she had, she would have jumped up the moment he announced that he would yield the throne to Rahim (though what gave him the impression that the ulema, who had the power to dethrone him, would allow him to nominate his successor passes my understanding!).

It is a fundamentally unbalanced equation between them, and I do not think this would be of much interest to me if it develops on these lines. Just look at the precap! She is preaching to him against acting in haste and anger, and he is taking it in with boundless admiration. Yet what does she do every single time there is a problem except act in haste and in anger? The obvious contradiction clearly does not occur to him. Or to the forum.

Lashy, this is fast becoming a jazzed up version of PR,with a heroine who can never do anything wrong and is perennially up there on a pedestal. Not because she is intelligent or resourceful or capable of logical thought, but simply because the CVs decree that it be so.

Why, yesterday Jodha was so much like deflated balloon, helpless and adrift, that it was depressing to watch her; she cannot even deduce that a man who can give up a throne to keep one promise he made her would never have broken another promise (by now, Jalal's non-existent zubaan has taken on a life of its own), but actually attacks him afresh on that score. How an intelligent man can love such a featherbrained creature is a mystery.

Till now, there has not been a single instance where she has influenced him for the better, and whatever is good and noble in him was always there. Still, you will now see this haivaan ko banaya insaan mantra being force fed to us; it has already started with the precap.

I am sure 99% of the forum will lap all this up, and good for them. I will not be among them, and soon I will very likely be left with next to nothing to analyse or write about, which would be no bad thing after all. I have never yet watched any serial that did not force me to drop out halfway, so why should this be the exception? But good luck to you, my very dear girl!

Lashy dear, this is a characteristically thorough, lucid and appealing piece of writing, but I do think I spoke too soon about the two of us sounding like a duet, as I would not rate today's episode anywhere near as highly as you do.
😭

Not that it matters, and I am happy that you are happy with it, even if I am not. Well, I do agree completely with your take here on Mahaam and especially about Ruqaiya, to whom you have been remarkably fair, something that is a rarity here. And I loved the most uplifting message from Sheikh Salim Chisti.
Yes...😊 Thanks aunty...

The rest was very slapdash and predictable, Jalal going on and on about his zabaan, diabetes inducing stuff from Hamida, standard issue griping from Mahaam and Ruqaiya, who, as you have pointed out, could hardly be blamed for taking the easy way out to save Jalal's takht.

Finally, a poor showing by Jodha who was, in the final accounting, not ready to do anything to save the Shahenshah's throne by offering to convert, which is what I would have expected her to do as soon as Jalal offered to abdicate in favour of Rahim. And which you or I would have done like a shot, if only out of the gratitude she never voices but which she, hopefully, feels somewhere inside!

The part which took the cake was the black cloth explanation, which you have glossed over. This kind of nonsense is an insult to the intelligence of the viewers. At least so I would feel, but as no one here seems to be bothered about it but Kamal and I, perhaps the CVs are right after all! And obviously none of the CVs has done even an elementary course in physics!

Aunty, its a far lesser insult to viewer-intelligence than the Maham body-double fiasco and of far-far-lesser consequence than the point in the storyline when Jodha decided to take the 'talaaq' way out. πŸ˜†
I didn't look for logic in a part of a sub-story since the entire sub-plot wasn't really to my taste. On the contrary since I set out to watch today's episode with no expectation whatsoever, I was surprised and pleasantly so. I was happy by the way it was rounded off - not for the logic but for the manner in which both leads' emotions played out!
Fine if not black cloth, he could have said blanket - but that is of littler issue here than the fact that
1) He stuck to his dignity (of which I had little doubt)
2) He played mind-games with her to get even and then let the truth out slowly after letting her know he did so deliberately. He didn't grovel, beg or plead to please her! The best part was that at the end of it all, Jodha couldn't help but look down in abashment with a near smile...she'd lost another round by having mistrusted him...
3) The combined occurrence of the religious issue and now this episode would hopefully be the start of Jodha Begum's apparent (not hidden) trust in him

Besides how can one blame her when he is determined, like Darcy, to be pleased with her no matter what she does? It is pointless to look for a stormy, dominating Rhett in this Jalal, who reserves his imperiousness for Adham and Sharifuddin.
The heart wants what the heart wants...Darcy is not all that unlikeable either...πŸ˜›
Thanks aunty...

Ariel,

I agree with you about the episode, as you can see from my exchanges with Lashy above.

I agree 100% with you on Jalal's behaviour towards Ruqaiya, which lowered him in my estimation as much as his endless pandering to Jodha. I still remember how he was scheming with her against Jodha in the old days; that was apparently kosher, but this is not? I do not respect a man who throws over an old relationship for a new one, that too one in which he is doing all the running after a disdainful, demanding, eternally taking woman.

I also agree that what Ruqaiya was feeling was hurt more than jealousy, though jealousy would naturally have been there as well, and why not? The problem here is that one cannot really pin down A Ruqaiya, ever since Smiley's complex, vulnerable Ruqaiya was replaced. So saying anything in defence of this one is like stepping on to quicksand, as you have noted as well.

The only constant here is Meri Jodha Mahaan.

Lovely post. You touched on all the important aspects of today's episode and analysed them adequately. However, I have something to add about Malika-e-Azam, aka, Hamida Bano Begum's diversionary tactics. Although, Jodha was visibly hurt and shaken by her beloved Ammijaan's decision, I believe, the momentary betrayal was a necessary evil. I think Hamida Bano sent a "paigam" or a letter of notice about the tumultuous situation at court requesting Sheikh Salim Chishti to deliver a judgment. Whether it was a part of the elaborate plan that the deceptively clever lady fabricated or a mere coincidence by the will of an omnipresent and omnipotent entity, it worked out splendidly for all parties involved.

It did...what I meant was that it was a risk she took seeing how there's no assurance that we know the saint's message would have reached on time...

I do agree to the caption of this post. All's well that ends well. This is a fabulous Diwali gift. Finally we'll get to see some quality time spent together by Jodha and Jalal, while Ruqaiya roasts in a green rage. Yes, I do expect her stirring up some trouble for the happy couple. But, I think, the serial's finally reached the point where Jodha and Jalal are right on the precipice, waiting to take a leap of faith and fall for each other
I genuinely hope that's what it is and that Jodha doesn't revert to her ghrina or Jalal doesn't MU with Jo - not at least for a good while...we've had enough of Jo's ghrina for now...πŸ˜†
. 😳
And, as for your question about the "black clothe", I don't think that Khwaaja Sera actually intended for Jalal to warm Jodha up using the above-mentioned article, and actually intended for him to use other ahem, personal methods to do the deed (The pun cracked me up!) It's a good thing that Jalal holds the promises he gives Jodha in such high regard and is astute and perspicacious. πŸ˜ƒ
I think so too!πŸ˜ƒ

On a lighter note, I disliked the last couple episodes because all that was missing was Jalal's sexy smirk (They should copyright that!) and when he finally smirked in tonight's episode, I went into full fangirl mode, with the squealing and general craziness.πŸ˜†
I know...same here...πŸ˜†
Thanks for your post dear...😳

Lashy, lot of positivity & progress in today s epi & u ve penned it all down very nicely 😊 . The Chisti part was simply divine to hear, loved that. And it was gr8 to see Jalal taking Jodha s side against the likes of MA & all other harem ladies.

True...the whole religious aspect was very very well done...esp for being a touchy subject as this...

Did feel bad at Jodha s plight regarding conversion, but still what you d highlighted about Ruq s reasons for pressurising Jo to convert applies to Jo too in a way na. Even when Jalal finally said he s willing to abdicate his throne & place Rahim on it just bcos he d given his word, she didnt voluntarily agree to conversion. After all, as his Begum she has some duties too. Though I d expected this reaction only from her, it still was bitter to digest being proved right, atleast for me . This is the major point that didnt sit well with me in the epi.
Again, on this point I just went through some posts in the forum and I was a bit taken aback...the opinions here are very strongly divided on it...but, again this is religion and I dont' want to elaborate too much on it since its a very touchy and 'personal' subject...I've elaborated what I'd have done...but another person could/would have done differently...while she seemed selfish to me, in the very same era she hailed from - thousands of her clan preferred dying to converting...so, I'll just let the CVs and Jalal handle Jo as they deem bestπŸ˜†

Otherwise, it was good for me & am even willing to swallow the miraculous black cloth treatment πŸ˜‰
While most are ok to swallow some of our friends hate itπŸ˜†...so the forum seems a bit divided...
I'm looking at the end result of an otherwise sour track...the means was not up to the mark...but,I'm glad a favourable result was achieved and without dragging it for too long...that's all I can say for now...
I shall look forward to the precap!πŸ˜ƒ
Thanks dear...and may I please know your name 😳
