Lovely post. You touched on all the important aspects of today's episode and analysed them adequately. However, I have something to add about Malika-e-Azam, aka, Hamida Bano Begum's diversionary tactics. Although, Jodha was visibly hurt and shaken by her beloved Ammijaan's decision, I believe, the momentary betrayal was a necessary evil. I think Hamida Bano sent a "paigam" or a letter of notice about the tumultuous situation at court requesting Sheikh Salim Chishti to deliver a judgment. Whether it was a part of the elaborate plan that the deceptively clever lady fabricated or a mere coincidence by the will of an omnipresent and omnipotent entity, it worked out splendidly for all parties involved. I do agree to the caption of this post. All's well that ends well. This is a fabulous Diwali gift. Finally we'll get to see some quality time spent together by Jodha and Jalal, while Ruqaiya roasts in a green rage. Yes, I do expect her stirring up some trouble for the happy couple. But, I think, the serial's finally reached the point where Jodha and Jalal are right on the precipice, waiting to take a leap of faith and fall for each other. 😳
And, as for your question about the "black clothe", I don't think that Khwaaja Sera actually intended for Jalal to warm Jodha up using the above-mentioned article, and actually intended for him to use other ahem, personal methods to do the deed (The pun cracked me up!) It's a good thing that Jalal holds the promises he gives Jodha in such high regard and is astute and perspicacious. πŸ˜ƒ
On a lighter note, I disliked the last couple episodes because all that was missing was Jalal's sexy smirk (They should copyright that!) and when he finally smirked in tonight's episode, I went into full fangirl mode, with the squealing and general craziness.πŸ˜†

@Suvi
The episode was a good one...I must say...the sensitive track was very well handled...as you said it was solved in half episode...but...that's ok...given that its a very sensitive one I think it's good that we are done with it...
Jalal had given his words to jodha...also, the sort of man he is just like everyone I believed that he will never force jodha...jodha too was justified in her stance...for a woman who is fiercely religious this has to be a big blow...ruqaiya's was also justified...
Did you notice cheapuddin wants jodha to be thrown away from sultanate? Dare he tell shehensha what he is supposed to deal with his begum?
Chisti jee's words were pearls of wisdom...one should love god...and..not fear him...forcing someone is like disrespecting the almighty...wow!!!

Yes dear I truly loved the episode...especially seeing it was a good one after 2 bad ones...I'm happy the way in which they wrapped it all up...

I have a different take...I don't think jalal needs to give any answers to ruqaiya...his relationship with his wife is between him and that particular wife...no one else should be allowed a peek-boo...General discussion or mention is okay...but...personal details like what or what not transpired in the confines of room should be limited to shehensha and that particular wife...😊

Loool we discussed this on the other thread..so shall not state the same points here again...but, I did still feel Jalal need not have lied...πŸ˜†

The precap was very nice...Jodha does have a sense of humour...πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

I am so so so looking forward to it!

Lashy dear, this is a characteristically thorough, lucid and appealing piece of writing, but I do think I spoke too soon about the two of us sounding like a duet, as I would not rate today's episode anywhere near as highly as you do. Not that it matters, and I am happy that you are happy with it, even if I am not.

Well, I do agree completely with your take here on Mahaam and especially about Ruqaiya, to whom you have been remarkably fair, something that is a rarity here.

And I loved the most uplifting message from Sheikh Salim Chisti.

The rest was very slapdash and predictable, Jalal going on and on about his zabaan, diabetes inducing stuff from Hamida, plus a very risky gamble on the letter turning up, and in those days By road?!?

Standard issue griping from Mahaam and Ruqaiya, who, as you have pointed out, could hardly be blamed for trying to take the easy way out to save Jalal's takht.

Finally, a poor showing by Jodha who was, in the final accounting, not ready to do anything to save the Shahenshah's throne by offering to convert, which is what I would have expected her to do as soon as Jalal offered to abdicate in favour of Rahim. And which you or I would have done like a shot, if only out of the gratitude she never voices but which she, hopefully, feels somewhere inside!

The part which took the cake was the black cloth explanation, which you have glossed over. Lashy, it was LUDICROUS. Black cloth cannot generate heat, which was what was needed. Jodha's half frozen body had no heat to conserve. That is why the Khwaja recommended her husband hugging her tight to transfer HIS body warmth to her. How on earth can a black cloth wrapping thaw out a frozen body? This kind of nonsense is an insult to the intelligence of the viewers. At least so I would feel, but as no one here seems to be bothered about it but Kamal and I, perhaps the CVs are right after all! And obviously none of the CVs has done even an elementary course in physics!πŸ˜‰

As I plan to stick for as long as I can to my Deepavali resolution not to tear strips off Jodha, I shall refrain from comment about her opening lines to Jalal as soon as he turns up in her rooms. Besides how can one blame her when he is determined, like Darcy, to be pleased with her no matter what she does? It is pointless to look for a stormy, dominating Rhett in this Jalal, who reserves his imperiousness for Adham and Sharifuddin.

To my mind, the sole interesting point in today's episode was Adham's revelation that it was not he who leaked the butparasti episode to the maulvis. So who could it have been?

Even earlier, I was wondering about who could have known about Jalal's maatha-tekhna in front of the Kaali Maa, for only Jodha and her daasis were with Jalal then, and all the Mughal courtiers had been left outside. Unless one of the daasis gushed about what the Shahenshah had done to one of the Mughal baandis. It is mysterious.

I saw some speculation elsewhere that it could have been Ruqaiya, but that is as ludicrous as the black cloth explanation. She would never have risked Jalal's takht, and for what? To put Jodha on the spot? Nonsense!

WOW! These CVs really see-saw with the quality of their episodes don't they. Are they the same people who dished out Thursday's and Friday's episodes? Today I saw an episode that made up for two dismally directed ones. Even then, one could witness many editing faults today. However, that's something I'm prepared to overlook as long as a sensible story is in place - and that is what the 100th episode gave us - a sensible storyline! It connected all the dots of a puzzle that till this evening only seemed like a mish-mash of pieces!

Today's episode gave us the entire picture and set the scene for what seems like a new chapter or phase in the life story of Balaji's Jalal and Jodha!

[Also, the JA CVs would probably be the only ones who would know how to wrap up such important tracks within the span of 2-3 episodes. Their speed is completely different to that of any other serial'sπŸ˜†]

Anyway, back to the episode- How many felt at absolute peace when watching the episode?
I did! I didn't find anything out of place today or anyone's stance questionable. No to mention - the number of question marks that were answered!

JALAL
Jalal, being Jalal - the Shehenshah - proved that his 'word' was even greater than his 'takht' or status and went so far as to announce that he could give up the throne for his lil Rahim if it ever came to that!

MAHAM
Maham was her usual self - wanting Jodha to convert!

RUQAIYYA
Strangely enough, I found Ruqaiyya quite justified in her stance too. Now many may have a different stance to what I have - but, I very modestly state my viewpoints on this matter. I'm a staunch & religious Hindu myself. Just supposing I had a husband of another religion whom I didn't love, but who'd done so much for my family in the recent past. Supposing, his position/power/status were in a jeopardy because of my religion! Obviously, all this would come with the additional burden of peace of the country being risked in the form of rebellion, disturbance, bloodshed etc which could indirectly cause the death of many of my own fellow people. If such had been the case, I'd have agreed to convert without much ado. [Point to note that I don't know that a saviour like Baba Chisti would come to my help]
Therefore, Ruqaiyya's stance today seem justified to me. However, I'm a moderate by nature and generally prefer paths that would bring about peace in a household/state/nation/country etc. I can totally understand if everyone else does NOT think so!πŸ˜ƒ

JODHA
I ALSO humbly do accept that I can understand when many others would understand/empathize with Jodha i.e. that religion/dharma and self-choice/respect is above all! Additionally, being a queen of the 16th century, she would not have had much exposure to another religion in the manner that media and inter-cultural interaction allows us today. The whole concept would have been alien to her. So, her dread/fear also was quite realistic. That and the fact that a fictional tale between a Hindu queen and Mughal King sounds more novel/tantalizing!πŸ˜ƒ
(Though one must also remember that many other queens of her time and even women of today do convert to their husband's religion - so, Hira Kunwari was actually quite fortunate to have had a husband like Jalal in that respect.)

Thankfully, she appeared dignified in her state of alarm i.e. without breaking out into another fuming bout of lectures - instead, she handed over all the decisions to her Ammijaan!

COURT
Just before Jodha was about to kneel down to convert, I had goosebumps on my hand - I could see how disturbed she was by Hameeda Baanu's verdict. While Hameeda Banu's latter explanations/plan didn't cut it for me, the rest of it was good enough to bury this loop-hole!
Had I not known the spoilers, I would have been even more enthralled by that scene! 😳

Following the arrival of the Muslim saint, I loved everything that the genial respectable man said. Though the juxta-posed direction between Chisti and Shehenshah could have been better, his words were very touching indeed.
'Form a nation that is based on 'love' not one that is governed by political and religious sentiments!' the baba had advised Shehenshah

'When the Great Saint Himself trusts the Shehenshah, who are we to intervene? We don't know if it was Allah or your Bhagvaan who stopped us from committing this misdeed- but, compelling another one to accept another religion is a crime!' the Imams resolved

It was all beautifully executed - and for some strange reason, the court scene didn't even feel rushed!😊

BODY HEAT
Thankfully, the Shehenhah was a delightful mix of all 'positive' things Jalal today when he came forth to visit Jodha in her chamber that culminated into an explanation of what happened the other fateful night.
His explanations had hints of impishness while his manner was cordial all through. His smiles might have been gentle, but his intentions were tinted with hues of mischievous vindictiveness.
'I would have explained it the other day, but I realized that you'd assumed many many things...far beyond what'd happened...now, how could I not take an advantage of it? How could I let this opportunity go?'πŸ˜†
He had to get back at her for NOT trusting him and for QUESTIONING him over and over again on this issue - and this was the manner in which he did so. This adds another point to him in this match between Miya-Biwi - remember the 'getting even' bit? Any time she troubles him, he gets back at her fair/unfair, square and even!
Thus, he let her mind be muddled with confusion for a day and a half- he let her assume things - he let her ponder on it back and forth till the whole matter was a hazy mess!πŸ˜›

THEN, he tells it all - it was nothing more than the fact that he'd wrapped her up in black cloth to keep her warm! [Though I fail to understand why only the Shauhar could have done this and not her maids! Or was it something Jalal thought up to save her dignity/modesty?]
Anyway, I'm glad its done with for now.

By the way - did everyone notice? Jodha was angry - as expected - but, not as angry as her usual self when she questioned him on it. For an issue that would be of monumental significance to her, she was strangely collected and composed. Her anger was mostly evident only in those hazel eyes of hers! Why was it so? Was it because she'd seen the honourable support he'd meted her during the religious issue? Was she somehow still convinced that he'd kept his word and not touched her?

Anyway, some of our forum friends had supposed that the conclusion of the body heat issue had been kept mum so that it can be intertwined with the religious issue - the basis of both being that of trust, Zubaan and honour.
As far as the execution of body heat is concerned it did leave a lot to be desired - but I can now see the intentions behind it and it was all novel!

As for Vachan - looks like Jalal himself has accepted the fact that he gave his zabaan on the matter of 'touching' Jodha. Therefore, unless Jo Ma'am gives the nod, the wheels of their vehicle of a physical relationship between the two are not going to be set in motion any time soon [And Thank God for that...we don't want it any time soon...πŸ˜›lots more nok jhok to be seen!]

Why did Jalal lie to Ruqaiyya?πŸ€”
All right he didn't really lie...However, he wasn't entirely truthful either. Now I understand why Jalal behaved mischievously with Jodha - hiding the truth from her for some time to give her a small punitive-styled pinch! However, why did he lie to Ruqaiyya?
We know that in future Jodha and Jalal are to become one. However, can someone tell me why did he lie at this stage? Why that semi-mischeivous smile on Jalal's lips -he knew he was omitting some important details when he told Ruqaiyya that he spent the night with Jodha!

Precap
I am REALLY looking forward to this now and I don't say this for many precaps!
Seeing how all the issues have been ironed out satisfactorally - seeing how the news has turned out favourably for our royal couple (and esp Jo Begum) - seeing how the precap shows a friendly Jodha - This has to be the best Diwali gift for a true JA fan!

Aunty, its a far lesser insult to viewer-intelligence than the Maham body-double fiasco and of far-far-lesser consequence than the point in the storyline when Jodha decided to take the 'talaaq' way out. πŸ˜†
I didn't look for logic in a part of a sub-story since the entire sub-plot wasn't really to my taste. On the contrary since I set out to watch today's episode with no expectation whatsoever, I was surprised and pleasantly so. I was happy by the way it was rounded off - not for the logic but for the manner in which both leads' emotions played out!
Fine if not black cloth, he could have said blanket - but that is of littler issue here than the fact that
1) He stuck to his dignity (of which I had little doubt)
2) He played mind-games with her to get even and then let the truth out slowly after letting her know he did so deliberately. He didn't grovel, beg or plead to please her! The best part was that at the end of it all, Jodha couldn't help but look down in abashment with a near smile...she'd lost another round by having mistrusted him...
3) The combined occurrence of the religious issue and now this episode would hopefully be the start of Jodha Begum's apparent (not hidden) trust in him

Besides how can one blame her when he is determined, like Darcy, to be pleased with her no matter what she does? It is pointless to look for a stormy, dominating Rhett in this Jalal, who reserves his imperiousness for Adham and Sharifuddin.
The heart wants what the heart wants...Darcy is not all that unlikeable either...πŸ˜›
Thanks aunty...

Tonight's episode was AWESOME!!! i was wondering where you were didn't see your comments or likes in any threads!πŸ˜‰ ...and then you made a topic on the epiπŸ₯³it was a rocking episode! I too had the doubts where this the same makers who aired Thursday and Friday's episode??!!! what a contrast in terms of script and screen play.
Same here dearie...πŸ€—and thanks for the wishes...I was around replying too..but, it gets lost a bit in the slew of topics...

JALAL
I loved Jalal he was at his best!πŸ˜› What a honorable Emperor!! who would give up his throne but not change his word!πŸ‘ Rahim's name was expected, he loves the boy like his own son! May be now AK might just realize the next in line for the throne is not him but Rahim!
Thankfully, he's insightful enough to see that even a child Rahim is better than his half-brother or brother-in-law on the throne...😊

RUQAIYYA
Just recently i starting liking Lavina and from then on i was waiting to see her on screen. My disliking of her character has reduced tooπŸ˜†πŸ˜† infact last weekend i was rooting for RuqLal 😳..🀣..(im a little crazyπŸ˜‰)
Jo has been pretty horrible during Amer so I'm not blaming you...πŸ˜† The Jo who visited Ajmer Sharif and this Ameri Jo are 2 diff people...

This is what any Begum would do, she has to put the wellbeing of her people before herself. But personally, even though i am very secular but i would never agree to change my religion ...it something very personal.yes, she had a point but from my personal point of view i would not agree with any religious conversion!
Yes..I knew it changes from person to person...so...that's why the disclaimers in my note...😊

JODHA
I couldn't believe that inspite of what happened in the court she was still pissed at Jalal. I completely forgot about the body warmth incident! πŸ€ͺ

Even i liked Jodha's calm and composed reaction during the epi... she did not go into her ghrina mode or starting crying helplessly...she just put her faith in the one person she trusts the most in Agra...HB!! HB gave me in shock when she said yes in the court and MA's comments to that was even more misleading!!
She was strangely composed throughout - for Jo's standards, I mean...that's why I wasn't too shocked when she started accusing Shehenshah after the court incident...πŸ˜† but, she did have a point too - till the body heat part was resolved how could she think of anything else?

Seeing her interaction with Kana i realized when haven't seen him in a long time. ...missed him.πŸ˜›
YupπŸ˜ƒ
COURT
😊 one of the best court scenes in JA so far. Just had the right pace not too fast nor did they drag it with unnecessary talks! Just the right amount of suspense , twist and happy ending...allz is wellπŸ˜‰
I loved it...πŸ‘

BODY HEAT

this was the heated topic last week on the forum and i didn't expect they would touch it again after Friday's episode. Wallah! what surprises CVs have for us... as some1 on the forum said...this vague reply by Jalal was to make Jo think about it and find the answer of it on her own... "is he capable of breaking his own word??!!"
Yes dear...I liked the way he tackled it...thought the black cloth nonsense didn't make sense...I liked the scene purely cos of Jalal

Khawjia Shera asked him to gives his body warmth to Jo but since Ja had to keep his word...he looked for a black cloth to keep her warm without having to physically touch her! πŸ€” I don't see how that could help when Jo's body was ice cold!
Someone else in the forum said...When one wants magic don't search for logic...this is perfectly where such a thing comes into play...
Why did Jalal lie to Ruqaiyya?πŸ€”

either he didn't want to share his private details with Jo to Rukku
or
he loves to tease her and get the reaction that she gave🀣
He is one naughty cassanova...πŸ˜†

however, on a serious note...it's really sad for any woman to see her husband fall for his other Begum! I feel bad for RukkuπŸ₯Ί
OMG tell me about it...that's why they portray Ruqs as more interested in power...πŸ˜’ warna how would a modern audience cope?

Precap

do i even need to say anything!!☺️

Finally the royal couple are back on track heading the right direction. We want more of such scenes in the coming weeks!playful Jo - Ja!
Jo imitating Jalal...how cute could that get...😳

Lashy, lot of positivity & progress in today s epi & u ve penned it all down very nicely 😊 . The Chisti part was simply divine to hear, loved that. And it was gr8 to see Jalal taking Jodha s side against the likes of MA & all other harem ladies. Did feel bad at Jodha s plight regarding conversion, but still what you d highlighted about Ruq s reasons for pressurising Jo to convert applies to Jo too in a way na. Even when Jalal finally said he s willing to abdicate his throne & place Rahim on it just bcos he d given his word, she didnt voluntarily agree to conversion. After all, as his Begum she has some duties too. Though I d expected this reaction only from her, it still was bitter to digest being proved right, atleast for me . This is the major point that didnt sit well with me in the epi. Otherwise, it was good for me & am even willing to swallow the miraculous black cloth treatment πŸ˜‰

Another point just mentioned in passing but I thought it was huge and didn't get the reaction it deserved, did jalal announce rahim as his heir. I thought there should have been more focus on Adaham and Maham reactions. All the scheming that goes on it to get the throne for themselves, but if Jalal has a will and Rahim is his heir until he has a son of his own then what of their plan. Obviously I get that Rahim is a baby getting him killed would be too easy. I loved that they mentioned Rahim though he is such a lovely boy and and all interactions between Jalal baba and chotu Rahim has been so sincere. I am glad the wrtiers brought that in to show the importance of Rahim in Jalal's life.
