it was said that the duty of the harem woman was pleasing the Emperor and providing him with children and once they provided that ...the Emperor would stop visiting them and then a life of loneliness waits...no wonder most of them turned against each other

they were provided all the luxuries and protection possible but emotionally it was hell for most of them

it is scary ,i can understand where jodha comes from ..even if she has heard about it ,is aware of it but still it is different coming and living in it ,that too a different religion ,culture ..shudders...

On a trip to Fatehpur Sikri in Agra (which is the palace where these people are shown) I actually saw two "jails" near the harem, and when I asked the guide about it, he said it was usual for the women to get so physically violent with each other and tear others' faces and all ... so the very violent ones were put in jail till they cooled down!
And even though they were supposed to be provided physical comforts at least if not emotional security, you should see how bad t was - the harem must have housed at least 300 women in a crowded state, and there were just some two or three bathing "swimming pool" types, of about quarter of the size of a modern swimming pool. And in that queue only the ladies in favour would have got a first chance to bathe and others who were not in the favour of the Shahenshah must have waited for months to get even a decent bath!
So if you were ignored by the Shahenshah after just one or two nights with him, your life was a literal mess!

Possibly the only on who can continue to see positivity in such a dismally directed storyline...😊
They've ruined a 16th century epic romantic tale with scenes like Bodyheat and push ups (fine the push ups bit was entertaining) but, body heat? Seriously?

As mentioned before, I am not one to shy away from passionate scenes as long as it's tastefully done...I wouldn't mind even vouching for a lip-to-lip kiss as long as the storyline, situation and setting demands it...
However, what was shown on Friday only looked tacky and therefore I didn't like it one bit!

Also, you know Mansi..you put so much of sweet thought into every line and scene in the episodes.😊 I agree - some of the scenes are definitely worth all that effort (like the Durg issue) but many of them seems like even the CVs don't care for (I don't think they even thought about the post-Mohan issue well enough)

Look at the latest inside info, the CVs have shot for three different scenes/possibilities for conclusion of the Bodyheat episode which is going to come back to us in a week's time in the form of flashbacks apparently...so, are they waiting to gauge TRPs and audience reaction to decide upon story of next week? When even the CVs are unsure of how to take the tracks ahead, how will the disjointed-ness and the mish-mashed plot NOT shown on screen? No wonder the actors themselves are looking tired these days...

I'm so disappointed with the way the tracks (especially romantic ones) are being handled...they have a lovely cast, tailor-made story - but, lack in execution!

As for the political and religious issues - I don't have any complaints...It needs to be shown and is being depicted in a crisp-enough manner to excite 21st century audience me thinks...😳

Thanks Lashy! Yes even I have heard that these scenes of that "body heat night" will be shown as flashbacks later! Maybe as Jalal's flashbacks, or perhaps maybe even as Moti's flashbacks if Moti has peeped into the room at night!
Regarding staying positive I have adopted a personal formula for myself like this:
a. I will have no expectations, so that I will also have no disappointments! let the story go in any direction with any nuances and I will take it at face value!
b. I know many people are irked that Jodha is so brusque with Jalal and he seems to be letting her get away with this like a puppy dog running after her. But it strikes me that it is not due to "bad characterisation by the Creatives ... it actually may be some insightful characterisation by the Creatives.
Maybe Jalal loves Jodha precisely because she has this "brusque exterior but pure gold heart inside" combination. Maybe its the combination that attracts him to her! It may also be that he likes this combination because he usually gets only the opposite i.e. "sweet outside, poison inside" type of people in his life!
So what we viewers may see as her roughness to him and his tolerance of all that and running behind her ... it may well be a case of it being the very point that attracts him to her!
If that is what the CVs intended Jodha''s character to be like and the CVs intended Jalal to be attracted by just those facets of hers, then I do not see Jodha changing much even after she falls in love ... she may still be her "outer-brusque-inner-loyal" self with Jalal loving her more and more for that!
That's why I take it philosophically that the Cvs may have a deliberate intention regarding the personalities of Jodha and Jalal and they are not doing things mindlessly. Don't know if you agree with me?

All the tracks were so promising but never sort of reached fruition exactly is how it felt to me. But ur explanation on this puts a different light on it. Hope the CVs r thinking along the same lines ( or atleast now stalk here & pinch some very good ideas from some of the forum writers πŸ˜‰ ) & give us some fulfilling tracks finally. And last but not the least, A Very Happy Diwali 😊

Happy Diwali to you too!πŸ€— And thanks for liking my post! I know the CVs do stalk the forum for ideas, so they may take some of the lovely ideas that our members put in their posts!πŸ˜‰

@sun & mansi, i agree about the harem situation. but even rajputs also have many queens & maids. conspiracies & murders were also part of their mahals as well. people like bharmal, bhagwan das & even maan singh had several wives. remember when mainavati heard about ruku's pregnancy she got worried. so i feel jodha should have seen sum part of this life, if not the entire part.

You are absolutely right about even the Rajputs having this sort of harem concept in their lives, many wives and concubines and all that. If you remember there was one scene very early on in the serial when even Suryabhan was seen in a naatch scene, where dancing women were entertaining the drinking men and the whole tribe of Ameri men were enjoying this diversionary entertainment! And there were no Ammeri women around, except for these raunchy dancers!
So a lot of all that must have been happening even in the Amer household. the difference was, I suppose, that in Amer the women would not talk about it openly, whereas in Agra, the harem is an openly accepted institution with no pretence of any "Hush hush ness" about it! It was like a taken for granted and even flaunted source of Shahi powerfulness!

Somebody has said that the "night body warming scene" shots have already been shot and as this part of the story is in suspense, they may show flashback next week of maybe Jalal remembering the scenes or something like that!
Its very possible, because its a common Creatives trick to shoot and show such scenes in flashback later if they don't want viewers to know the full story upfront and they want us to stay in a bit of suspense (along with Jodha herself).
