No,no, Ela, very nice try, but it will not wash!😉 Mahaam is no ordinary daasi. Like a chorus girl in the PG Wodehouse novels who marries a duke and becomes more ducal than he is, she is the Wazir-e-Aaliya, and one of the closest to the fount of all power, Jalal, whom she has raised and protected when he needed it.

She is hardly comparable with the one who piped up yesternight, who was a lowly daasi, not even Moti. Moti, incidentally, would not have said a word.

This inappropriate intervention would have been excusable if she had set the cat among the pigeons by mentioning that her mistress had gone for a boatride with the late lamented Suryabhan.Alas, she did nothing of the kind!

This said, Jodha's daasis now seem to be very downmarket and singularly ungoodlooking. And where is Moti, AWOL once again?

Daasis were quite close to Royals and somtimes answered for them...MA is a daasi too and we all know her status...Even HB is shown to bow down to her both in serial and movie...HB visited her along with Jalal when MA was proved innocent in MC track...Sad but true...

Folks,

Q1) It is all very nice to educate the viewers in the complexities of Mughal-Rajput animosities, and I was duly moved by the noble sentiments in the invitation sent by the Rajmata of Amer to Maharani Jaiwantibai of Mewar. But apart from the fact that the Rajvanshis shown confabulating with Kunwar (not Rana) Pratap looked like a bunch of extras from a gangster film togged out in royal attire, there was another major problem with this segment

What about the invitation to Pratap's estranged father, the Maharana of Mewar, Udai Singh? It was to him, as the head of the Sisodias of Mewar, that the invitation would have been addressed, not to Pratap, who was not even the Yuvraj. It would have been unthinkable in terms of royal protocol.

The CVs seem to have forgotten all about Maharana Udai Singh, but when Akbar laid siege to Chttor in 1568, it was still Maharana Udai Singh who was on the throne. He moved to Udaipur, which he founded as his new capital, and left Jaimal and Patta to defend Chittor. Chittor fell after a prolonged siege, enraging Akbar so much that he had all the defenders killed and their heads stuck on the battlements, as per the charming custom of those days, whether it was Henry VIII sticking Sir Thomas More's head on the Tower of London, orAkbar doing the same with these Rajput heads at Chittor.

Udai Singh also stood firm against the Afghans first and then the Mughals, so this premature emphasis on Kunwar Pratap seems odd, to say the least.

Yes Udai Singh is missing here. But i thnk they do not want too many characters hence only showing Maharana Pratap only. If Akbar is 20 years old when he married Jodha then Kunwar Pratap is 22 years old now. They should have choosen a younger person to play Pratap's character he looks 30s. Ideally protocol should have been shown but its not in this serial.
In india its a rule in war you do not hurt citizens of defeated country. But Akbar did not follow it many times especially in chittor where he got 30000 innocent citizens killed which is unpardonable.
Q2) Why is it that Jodha is not even thinking of throwing out any of the Kabul ke zevarat ? Should they not remind her of the Devi Maa's jewellery the Mughal raiders looted from the temple? 😉

Not only does she not do that, but she does not burn the Dhaka mulmul either, inconsistent wench that she is. In fact, she seems quite in ecstasies over her Ammijaan's largesse for Sukanya.

Jodha character has no consistency at all. How can she show thanks for the jewellery gifts given by hamida? Are they looted jewels or paid jewels? (pay and buy from market or made by Agra jewellers). This hamida banu acts as if jodha is her daughter and jalal her step son. Not sure why? hardly any peaceful interaction between mother-son

Q3) Why the Shahenshah's chief minister is shown to be such an incompetent that, with a large military contingent at hand, he suggests that his emperor go for a boat ride on a lake in hostile territory, a sitting duck for any attacker, without first securing the perimeter of the lake? In his place, having handled such visits as an Ambassador, even if it was not in hostile territory, that is the first thing I would have done.
Correction Shamshuddin Atagah Khan is Jalal's Prime Minister cum foster father cum caretaker from birth. That is why you see as his caretaker and foster father he accompanies him everywhere not as his PM/security commander. Also its not PMs responsibility to take care of emperor security what he knows of war and security poor guy. He is good only at handling administration and political matters. Where is Jalal's cheif security officer?

Q4) How many times is Jalal to cut his hand - not to speak of worse - in order to promote his shaky romance with the Amer ki Mirchi? At this rate, he will fade away from sheer blood loss😉. This is the third time, and it is getting to be so hackneyed. Can't they think of something a bit more intelligent for a change? How the devil did he cut it this time anyway? His hand was quite saaboot when he got into the boat.

It is a good thing for him that the water must have been pure in those days. If it was today, he would die of chemical poisoning, possibly from mercury,as in the Minamoto affair in Japan.

Yes, why always this cut hand? Atleast show that while trying to catch Jodha from slipping his hand cut against boat side.

Q5) What was it with the pathetic standards of marksmanship among the tribal warriors? The arrows fell in showers, reminding one of the Yuddha Kanda in the Ramayana, and if they had been even halfway proficient, our nascent lovers should both have been reduced to pincushions. At this rate, the tribals must be starving in the jungle!😉
Even more pathetic two body gaurds were there on river bank where they disappeared when their emperor is attacked? When emperor can catch intruders from boat his body gaurds cannot? And the tribals arrow kill only baotman not touching jalal-jodha.

Q6) How on earth does Jalal propose to save our Amer ki Mirchi? At the moment, she seemed to be in front and more exposed, for all his bravado of letting nothing happen to her. The only option would be for him to dive under the boat with her, and use the inverted boat as a shield. But then her regalia, when wet, would be heavy enough to sink them both.😉 There was no precap, so one could not make out what happen.

Actually Jalal should push jodha below in baot and cover her when arrows flow. Instead jodhais sheilding jalal currently. Hope atagah khan comes fast and saves them both. Actually atagh khan should have objected to this baot ride in enemy territory in first place.
The whole boat ride scene was contrived in the extreme, farce with a capital F. Not that I think anyone cares!God knows how much more of this corny stuff is going to be unloaded on us in Amer. After a while, even Jalal's mischievous, dancing eyes will begin to pall; one can have too much of a good thing, especially when the object of all his badinage and flirtatiousness continues to look as if she has been attacked by a swarm of bees!

What had me in splits was the idea of Mahaam Anga singing a lori.😉

If Javeed acomes to know about attack on jalal she may be so scared that she will run to jalal's camp and say "Shahenshah your tent is most safe i will stay here only" 😆 That will be scene of century Jalal tyring to fend of a determined and scared javeeda to spend some alone time with his wife.
Don't mind me, folks, I am already out of sorts, seeing all my fears, voiced in my last 2 posts, about the likely graph of the Jalal-Jodha love story apparently coming true. Carry on with the joyfest over the Akdha/Parijat prem katha. I am sure Jalal will cut another limb tomorrow, and Jodha will be stabbed by the assassin the day after. Phir kya, yeh prem katha toh chalegi nahin, daudegi!

Meghana, do see my response to Alakh above.

As for my writing, I never intended to do anything on this episode, but the end part was so irritating tht I HAD to get all that exasperation off my chest!

sashashyam, we should be happy as long as the trps r soaring, i will be worried if they start to fall, that is when the cvz will have to change or do some experiments on what might work, now look at the mc track, it had no logic at all, the hamsakal of maham did not make any sense, still the trps kept soaring, now these type of tracks encourage cvz to inject us with all types of melodramas with or without logic..if this type of romantic scenes will help in raising the trps then that is what we will get..ekta is pretty experienced in her field, she will feed the audiences with correct recipes of masala episodes that r bound to work or have worked in the past..lets see what the trps r next week, whether this track works or fails only time will tell😊!

I am grateful for such moral support!

But see,Anu, the part @ blue is really my problem. We are lowering our expectations and settling for these Asha Parekh-Shammi Kapoor style 1960s 'romance' (you might at least have seen some of those on TV!). Soon, as the TRPs rise because this is what the brute majority understands and likes, this will become a descending spiral as things get worse, though I cannot immediately guess how.

Where has the elegance and intelligence of the fencing duel or even the aarti thali scene gone? And why is their idea of romance limited to juvenile physical contacts? Do see my response to Alakh above, on the likely real thoughts of Jalal and Jodha during that closing clinch!

Soon, even Jalal's wicked flirtatiousness will begin to pall, no matter how much his eyes dance with ill suppressed mischief, as she continues to look as it the bees have been at her.😉

Shyamala, Loved reading your view.

For me , my expectations sank during the course of last week. I loved the dargaha scene.
I felt the hunting part was rushed but it was taken well too.
Everything since then seemed rushed and very in bits n pieces and felt the story wasn't flowing well. To top it all Jalal's almost confession... He seemed too profound to be lying abt falling for Jodha...
All in all it didn't sit very well. While I thought Jodha showed some remorse while talking to Rahim, the next day she was back to being cold and haughty headed when meeting Jalal
What am saying is my expectations started diminished during the course of last week as there were too many questions unanswered and I felt perhaps the creative were out on a holiday ...
So after all that, today I actually liked the Akdha scene. It was not great, but it was quite okay.
Now all the points raised by u are valid... (Jodha falling n times seemed so silly, where from did Jalal cut his hand etc etc)... But on the whole
I didn't think Jodha was too bad with Jallal.. which itself is progression... But 've decided to ignore Jodha as .I loved the flirty and mischievous Jalal! Its this Jodha that brings out that side in him😊

It was like overdose of an extremly sweet desert served at the end of a meal, all the supposedly romantic scenes bundled up and put in the last segment , had it been spread over the episode with a little bit of sensibility added to it ,the out come may have been much better.
Regarding Jalal hurting his hand , I was also wondering when did He hurt himself , maybe a case of bad editing.

Forced scenes of javeda are getting a little irritating now.

Overall didn't enjoy the episode much.

Yes, Suchi, but surely a modicum of intelligence would not come in amiss? And a tad less of juvenile peevishness?

Jodha is now exactly like Asha Parekh in the 1965 Teesri Manzil. When she gets up suddenly, if there had been any justice in the world of soaps, she should have fallen into the water. Earlier, when he asks pleasantly whether she likes boat rides, what is it with her reply? It is insolent and ungracious, and for that one moment, his smile fades.

None of Maharana Udai Singh's ranis would have ever dared say any such thing to him, and that is why Maharana Pratap is much more realistic than this puerile concoction.

There is a lot of space between a goody two shoes, and this self-righteous,impertinent, humourless, ill-mannered young woman, and this should not be forgotten. It does not have to be one or the other.

This Jodha, Suchi, is not my idea of any kind of princess, and if it goes on, as it will, neither will it be yours by the end of the week.At least, so I would hope!

My dear Navi.

I never meant to, and the fact that I did is a measure of my exasperation.

Thank you for such invaluable moral support! As for your comments, I am with you 111%. As lashy joked elsewhere, Jodha must also have been looking for mud, but settled the water. As for pressure points, perish the thought!😉
