Maybe the most important reason why Akbar married Salima can be because she was his paternal cousin like Ruqaiya. He can't let someone to destroy her life like that. No matter what He owes to Bairam Khan and he will never forget. 😊

I hate to say this, and I personally loved the movie where Akbar had no other wife, but in fact he had many wives, so in this case EK is only being realistic. She loves polygamy anyway...
