The name of the chapter is very very apt deceit betrayals and traps so many misunderstandings are cleared so many betrayals came to light..
There is happiness with a dash of sadness to it..
Happiness because jodha now knows that her husband had really not murdered her father and that even he was a prey to misunderstandings like her.
Sadness prevails as jalaal lost everything in a moments time his father and also the people whom he considered close to him and trusted blindly slayed his trust one by one first aadham then bairam khan whom he respected like his own father and then mahamanga who not only murdered his mother but also wanted jalaal dead..
Beautifully summarised ,yes there was a series of betrayals lies and gloom but finally truth came out.However two very good people lost their lives in this whole turbulence but finally their life came to a full circle .They were trappped in false MU's the chapter freed them and made their hearts clear
It is heart wrenching to see jalaal so broken after loosing everything he had in a blink of an eye..
I feel no hatred at all towards anjuman but only respect she truly is a very noble and brave lady because killing your own husband good or bad takes a lot of courage.. She very truly said a JERK like aadham can never be anybody's shauhar he does not deserve to live let alone being someone's husband..

Anjuman did indeed die a very tragic death after a tragic life but eventually she did prove her daunting chivalrous spirit-a woman who dared to raise her voice and had the guts to kill her husband Bravo indeed.
Only jodha's patient love and care can heal jalaal and bring him out of this shock her love will be the balm to all his pains and this time their love will bloom uninhibited because jodha now knows the depth of jalaal's selfless love for her from the hundred's of letters he wrote and jalaal also knows why she restrained herself in submitting herself to him..

Contrasting emotions on one hand jodha is soaking herself in jalaal's love and the happiness of her new found relation with jalaal after they finally consummated their marriage and is happy that she will be able to give her 100% now knowing that jalaal was never at fault..😳.She cried with him burned with him in his agony and suffered seeing him in pain she has fallen for jalaal and fallen hard..😃.
Yes Kashi,the moment just happened between them ,it was a spontaneous moment ,the one which had to be to prove their undying support for each other.Jodha had to pull him out of his misery assure him that she will never leave him.ALSO ONCE SHE SURRENDERS HERSELF ,SHE SI NOW TIED TO HIM FOREVER.Turned intoa new leaf altogether
Why do you have to do this with jalaal piu he lost his everything just sometime back and was getting back with renewed energy with jodha's love and only then did you have to disclose suryabhan's secret in front of him he is broken again with the thought that the women whom he loved and worshipped for so many years with such passion never loved him back all these years and yearned for another man whom she loved..

Chapter 13

Turbid Affairs

PRESENT-HUNTING CAMP NEAR AGRA

He maintained an ignorant face, put on a mask of feigned aloofness and covered himself with a shield of pretended detachment as the hunting's and other affairs passed on without interesting him much. All the other princes with their better halves have come with full pomp and show and a grand camping was organized in the middle of the jungle .The whole day Jalaal went hunting with the others of his kind, while the women waited and indulged in gossip and fun games. Jodha seemed to be on a roll, gaggling, grinning and gossiping her best with the other ladies; she sipped the juices from the finest goblets and sang along with them. When the males returned with their catches, the air sizzled with the smell of delicious spices and burnt meat as the chefs sizzled and sauted the food. The wines flowed ceaselessly and the courtesans danced to the beats and tunes of kajri and thumri.

Jodha's heart seemed to be brimmed with happiness. From behind the veils, in the corner of the females' ,she gave furtive glances at Jalaal who was in deep turmoil.He had dawdled enough now ,all his life his hasty decisions and his childish behavior had been the cause of so many lives being scattered .This thought made Jalaal restless and angry. Broken into pieces ,he sat unmoved and pained by everything that had fallen apart .His priciest possession ,his heart Jodha loved someone else and the thought of her being forced into a loveless marriage broke him .

AS the night had further fallen in ,the torches were brandished ,the bon fire died it's on slow death ,the princes retired to their own tents ,scattered at a plausible distance from each other while the guards looked around and kept a watch. The horses and camels were tied safely to the tether hooks lined up near the river and the stars bore testimony to the silence after a heated day's chatter.

Faraway on the branch of a fallen tree, Jalaal sat with a pall of gloom and darkness in his heart which seems to have crept slowly like the dark night. He looked at the distant haze of the torches in his camping sit ,nothing ,nothing could calm his temper ,the parched throat became more dried with every sip off liquor he had pushed down his throat and his eyes burnt with lament and remorse. He had to fix things and pretty soon, he vowed wiping the tears in his eyes .He rose up was about to walk back but a sharp, shooting pain caught him off guard, the angles almost tore part as the venous stab pierced his skin making him fall, In the darkness he could see only two eyes glimmering the furry royal yellow striped coat with its tongue salivating rushed towards him with a roar. A tiger, his mind became agitated and quickly rolled over ducking the jump and ran towards his sword, but before he could reach there, the paws were already on them, He almost gave a shriek, struggling with the voluptuous beast, it hunger making him agitated as he growled and struggled to dig its jaws in his flesh.

Jalaal's eyes loomed in fear and almost started to give up as his muscles tightened when he heard ,her scream ,the moments flashed and emerged ,The tiger left him and cast its glance on Jodha who had come there searching for him ,with Jalaal's sword clutched in her hands ,she waved at the beast and grunted as if challenging it. Jalaal yelped in fear ,"Jayiye yahan se Jodha bhagiye..."

But the beast almost pounced on her ..Jalaal ran in shock ,but the sword hurled in the air ,her wrists moved with agility ,the metal cut through the air and the blow pooled it in blood. The tiger's panting ribs hurt and the bleeding heart lost rhythm and breath in matter of seconds as hearing the screams, others came on rushing too with torches and swords in their hands ,but the deed was done as Jodha smiled ,but quickly threw the sword and covering herself with the veil hid behind Jalaal clutching his shoulder.

The shock on the faces of everyone was evident as they saw the slain tiger lying dead and the scratches on Jalaal's body .

She squealed , "Shehenshah ji ne mara ise ...warana aaj toh..."

(The King Killed it ..Or else today )

Everyone called and caught Jalaal on their shoulders .Jodha smiled with pride standing in one corner .Jalaal was too shocked to react.

He sat on a couch ,in the comfort of soft quilts of his tent ,the minor scratches had been dealt by the attending physicians with a paste of turmeric ,sandalwood and washed with clove infusion. Everyone praised Jalaal and left one by one. Jodha stood in one corner veiled like a dutiful wife .

When everyone left ,there was complete silence as Jodha ,held his feet and took out the mojris one by one removing her veil. Her actions tore off the last thread of patience ,it snapped miserably and clutching her by her shoulders , "Kyun ayi aap beech main ...huhh".His teeth gritted ,his heart sinking in fear of her safety. "Agar aapko chot pahunchti toh...huh..kya samajhti hai aap apne aap ko. Zara si bhi akal nahi hai apmein huh...",His fingers dug deep in her poercelain skin and tears emerged from his eyes.

(Why did you come in between ? What if you got hurt ?What the hell do you think of yourself)

"Arey Hum toh bas yun hi...socha ki gar apne sher ko kaat liya hota toh hahah bechara tadap k mar jata isiliye uski maut asan kar di humne hahhah",Jodha giggled looking into his eyes.

(I was worried about the tiger more..If you had bit him then it would have died a terrible death ,so I saved it and gave it an easy death hahha)

Jalaal was furious as he pulled her closer shaking her in extreme rage, "Mazak lagta hai apko yeh sab huh...Hansi aa rahi hai..janti hai kuch bhi ho sakta tha...agar..."

(Do you think its some kind of a joke You are laughing ..anything could have happened )

"Agar aapko kuch ho jata toh...",Jodha stared at him unblinking ,her eyes misted with tears .

(What if something happened to you )

Jalaal looked at her stunned as she continued,"Hum ji nahi patey hum mar jatey ...",She could not speak any further ,her voice quivered and she fell into his arms ,hugging him ,the warmth of her incessant tears drenched his bosom, his heart was torn in intolerable anguish ,it clutched his heart her pain ,the hug deepened and involuntarily his hands slipped around her and his eyes joined too in tears.

(I wouldn't have been able to survive without you)

He had been so scared ,the moment the tiger had attacked her he had been terrified terribly . He her in his grip and placed a peck on her forehead. A deep sigh escaped Jodha's mouth and Jalaal opened his eyes in shock .His hands slipped from her side and he parted from her pulling himself back .He muttered, "So jayiye rajkumari raat bahut ho gayi hai..Kal sidhe yehin se Amer bhi chalna hai..."

Saying this he turned around and sat on the couch grabbing some documents pretending to read them. Jodha remained rooted to the spot and half-heartedly went to the bed and lying said , "Aap nahi ayenge...",The words made her blush like a rose ,as she pulled her feet near her bosom .

(Won't you come)

"Nahi humein kuch zaruri dastawez dekhne hain riyasat k kaam se aap so jayiye..",Jalaal buried himself under piles of paper pretending to be absorbed in work ,while Jodha stared at him with a frown on her face.

(No I have some important work and papers to read)

Jalaal kept sitting like statue pretending to avoid her gaze ,the wolves howled and Jodha's eyes darkened with mischief .She pouted her lips ,creasing her brows, "Humein dar lag raha hai Shehenshah hum wahan aa jayein apke paas"

(I am feeling scared .Shall I come near you)

Jalaal turned around and reacted coldly, "acha sher se dar nahi laga aur gidad ki awaz se dar rahi hain aap...So jayiye..."

(Oh now you are afraid of wolves while you fought the tiger bravely)

Jodha frowned again and her cheeks puffed like a balloon and lied down.

The time flew and maybe hours passed in silence .Jodha cast a fleeting glance on Jalaal who seemed too engrossed in his readings.Jalaal had learnt to read and write with difficulty yet he was managing pretty well.

Jodha bit her lips and an idea flashed in her mind. Making an innocent face she frowned and pleaded , "Shehenshah humein bahut thand lag rahi hai hum wahan aa jayein...apke paas..."

(King I am feeling very cold..Can I come close to you )

Jalaal turned looking at her and said in a flat tone .He felt her concern as pretence. And it gagged him.

He muttered, "Yeh apne Shehenshah kya laga rakha abhi toh Tajposhi mein do mahine ka waqt hai...AAp abhi se..."

(Why are you calling me king when the coronation still has 2 months time)

"Humarey liye toh aap hi humarey Shehenshah hain aur hum apki Mallika..Jodha giggled straightening up and blushed furiously and continued with a sense of deep yearning in her eyes, "Hum wahan aa jayein apke paas..."

(For me you are my king and I am your queen ..Can I come there )

"So jayiye Rajkumari..Humey aap pareshaan kar rahi hain...",Jalaal got agitated in annoyance.

(You are annoying me.Why don't you just go to sleep)

Jodha squeezed her eyes and her mouth parted in anger, "Jayiye hum apse bikkul baat nahi karenge...Hmph..",She flared her nostrils and turned her face around in went to sleep.A tear rolled down Jalaal's cheeks .

(Gosh I will never talk to you now)

Later that night when Jalaal opened his eyes on his couch after waking up after a brief nap ,he saw Jodha cuddled up near his feet ,sleeping peacefully .He burst into tears which never stopped till morning .He kept on staring at her for hours broken and tortured.

PALACE OF AMER

He rose up high on the shamiyana ,the whole of Amer was invited to the event in emergency ,Jalaal leaned and looked at the huge gathering ,his voice choked with a bit of nervousness but his heart was determined .Jodha and Rani Mainawati stood beside him veiled in confusion. Jalaal had called an urgent gathering after reaching Amer.

His eyes had tears of remorse yet he folded his hands and roared out aloud ,

"Amer k wasiyon apka gunehgaar aaj apke samne khada hai...Aaaj hum aap sab se sabhi us us har ek gunaah ki muaffi mangte hain jiski wajah se Amer ne apne beton ki janein ganwayi ..Jiski wajah se Raja Bharmal jaise sache aur bahadur Raja ki maut hui ..Jis bhul ki wajah se apki Rajkumari ki beizzati hui...Hum un sari baton ke liye aap sab se Haath jodkar maafi Mangte hain.Jantey hain ki yeh sab theek nahi kar sakte aapko apke Raja lauta nahi sakte par aaj k baad hum vada kartein hain ki Amer kisi k bhi adheen nahi hoga...sirf Kartikeya k qabil hone tak hum riyasat ki dekhbhaal karenge par sahi waqt par Kartikeya hi raja honge aur phir uske baad Agra ki koi bhi dakhalandazi nahi hogi..Aur aaj aap sabhi k samne yeh vada kartein hain ki koi bhi Amer ki sarhadon ko chuu bhi nahi payega..."

(All the people ofAmer,I ask for forgiveness for every son lost in the battle ,for the loss of your valiant and honourable king ,for all the insults yor princess had to be bear because of my faults.I fold my hands bowing in front of you seeking apology.I know I cannot rewind time but I can promise one thing that Kartikeya will be the future king and I will only safeguard until he grows up .Never in life Amerwill have to bow down to Agra and no other opponent will ever be able to attck the kingdom anymore)_

Everyone stared at him in shock ,the king with folded hands ,with tears of remorse in his eyes.Rani Mainawati stuffed her dupatta in her mouth and cried blessing him and Jodha's heart swelled with pride and immense respect as hse wiped out the tears in her eyes looking at him and the people cheered his name blessing him with a long and prosperous life.

"Rajkumari...Shehenshah ji ne yeh patra apke liye diya hai...Wo sidhe hi jalse k sthana se nikal gaye aur kaha ki apko yeh patra de de...",Moti Bai handed over a letter to Jodha in her room in the palace.

(Princess ,the king has given this letter for you as he has left from the event itself)

"Kya ",She exclaimed in confusion, "Woh humein yun bina bataye humse bina miley aur humein yun Amer main chhodkar chalein gaye..."

(What how can he leave like this without meeting me leaving me in Amer?)

Her fingers tore off the envelope and opened the velvety roll.Jalaal's handwriting was shaky ,she knew he had just began writing and she read,

"Jodha,

Hum riyasat k kamon se aksar bahar hi rahenge kuch dino tak..Apka man nahi legega isiliye ap yehi rahiye..Chinta mat kaijiye hum khud apko lene jald hi ayenge...aur ..aur haan..Apna khayal rakhiya...humara intezaar kijiyega

Jalaal

(Jodha,

I will be busy with works of the kingdom and will not be present at the palce .I am leaving you here so that you do not feel lonely .I will come back to take you with me soon.Please wait for me and take care of yourself )

The letter fell off from Jodha's hands and she ran towards the balcony .Tears rolled down her cheeks as she watched the sand whirling in air while Jalaal rode away with his men.

"Hum apka intezzar karenge Shehenshah ji...",Jodha wept bitterly .

(I will wait for you)

Days passed in turmoil and pain. Jodha was reduced to a silent statue ,though in her heart she had a sense of calm ,yet the wait for Jalaal made her desperate ,her appetite reduced ,she smiled less. Though Kartikeya fought with her ,her friends chatted with her and Rani Mainawati stroked her hair but hse woke up in the middle of the night missing Jalaal. She used to sit for hours gazing at the horizons during sunsets missing him. There was no message from him yet ,the only news being of his rounds across the kingdom .She knew with him going to officially take the responsibility of a king ,things would be difficult for her. She had seen her mother waiting for moments of happiness with her father but her happy life had not even started .She wanted to tell him how much she missed him but he was nowhere.

He face started growing pale and her cheeks became even bonier .Her sunken eyes kept on staring at the fort gates often hallucinating him often. The dark patches beneath her deprived eyes became more and more pronounced. Almost two months passed in her loneliness. She grew weaker every passing day when she could barely even mange to catch her breath. Terrible anorexia and aversion to food developed and the only respite was the jasmine fragrance which she sprinkled on herself making her feel better .But her muscles grew weaker .

A day came when she almost fainted in the garden. The royal physicians were called and rushed to her service as she lied in her bed drenched .The midwife examined her pulse ,asked her a few questions and with a smile looked at Rani Mainawati who had a terrible concern in her eyes.

"Jodha ko kya hua hai...",Rani Mainawati cried.

(What happened toJodha)

"Rani ma ab toh bhai hum sone k kangan lenge apse ...",The mid wife smiled confusing them.

(Queen I will now take gold bangles from you)

"Kya matlab" ,Rani Mainawati squeezed her eyes.

(What do you mean ?)

"Matlab yeh Rani Ma aaap nani banne wali hain...",Her words echoed in the room.

(I mean you are going to become a grandmother soon)

Rani Mainawati hyperventilated in excitement and cried out loudly and threw her pearl necklace towards her as the midwife muttered, "Ab bas khan paan ka dhyaan rakhiye Rajkumari ji ka..."Rnunning away she left them alone.

(Now all you have to do is to take care of the diet and habits of the princess)

Jodha was dumbstruck for a second and sprang up from her bed .A fine mist of tears blinded her vision as her smile widened an inch every passing second as the words and feeling sunk in..

Rani Mainawati hugged her and cried, "Jodha"

Jodha felt as if someone had given her all the riches of the world and she shrieked in excitement , "Masa hum ma banenge ...Aur wo pita ...Wo bahut khush honge..Masa ..wo bahut khush honge..Hum ma banenge ma...",She burst into tears of ecstasy in Rani Mainawati's arms and parting from her quickly ,"Hum abhi swayam jayenge Agra masa..Humein unke paas jana hai...",Jodha ecstatically started stuffing her clothes in her chest.

(I will become a mother and The king a father He will be so happy ..I will leave for Agra now..I want to meet him)

"Haan beta hum aaj hi sandesha bhijwate...", Rani Mainawati wiped her tears.

(Yes my child I will send a message ..)

"Nahi ma aap kuch nahi kahenge hum yeh khabar unhe swayam denge..",Jodha blushed furiously.

(No MOTHER you will not say anything I will give this good news to the king myself)

"Badhai ho Rajkumari...",Motibai ran inside the room and announced still catching her breath.

(Congratulations Princess)

"Shehenshah ka sandesh aya hai..Unhone apko liwane k liye doli aur rakshak bhejein hain...unhone ne apko sidhe Rajya k beechobeech jo mrigmarichika (oasis) hain na wahan ane ko kaha hai wo apki wahin prateeksha kar rahe hain..wahan ek dusra mehel bhi hain.. apko wohin ane ko kaha hai...",Moti bai chirped ecstatically.

(The king has sent a message and some me n to fetch you .He is waiting at the oasis in the middle of the kingdom ,in his palce there)

Jodha's eyes twinkled with extreme joy and mirth .

"Dekha masa..Unhone humein bulaya hai..Ma...Unhone humein bulaya...",Jodha blabbered giddy headed and ran around in excitement spreading her arms twirling around.

(Did you see Mother he called me )

"Arey arey beta aram se...", Rani Mainawati held her arms strongly making her stop.

(Be careful my child)

"Ap nahi soch sakti ma..Ki hum kitney khush hain aaj ..Masa...",She giggled and rolled around in circles happily and hugged Rani Mainawati

(You cannot imagine how happy I am mother)

"Haan beta,..", Rani Mainawati stroked her back gently and parting from her walked away, "Hum apke liye kesar wala dudh lekar atey hain..ap piyengi hai na..."

(I am going to get Kesar Milk for you ..You will drink that right?)

"Haan ma..HUMEIN BAHUT ZOR SE BHOOKH LAGI HAI...",Jodha quickly grabbed an apple kept on the side table and fell on the bed munching it happily and yelled ,"Aur haan ma..Humein dher sari kachi kairiyan bhi chahiye..."

(Yes I am hungry and please do get raw mangoes for me too)

Rani Mainawati wiped away the tears of happiness watching Jodha and walked way thanking the Goddess for such overwhelming news.

Jodha's feet dangled as she sat on the swing munching the apple and stroked Meera's neck, "Dekha Meera wo humein lene a rahe hain..."

(Did you see Meera ,He is coming to get me)

Meera and Govind had been her sole company in her loneliness as Jalaal had sent them too within a few days of his departure.

Motibai sat near her and oiled her hair while Jodha jumped back from the swing and examined her belly in the front of the mirror.

"Yeh to bikul bhi bahar nahi aya..",Jodha pouted , her was face confused

(This seems flat)

"Arey dhat Rajkumari Suna hai panchwe mahine mein hi ata hai...",Moti bai giggled.

( Princess ,I have heard that it is visible only after 5 months.)

Jodha frowned and started counting days on her fingers and smacked her forehead, " Haan abhi toh..",She bit her tongue in embarrassment ,her cheeks flushed with heat as she recalled her unusual night with Jalaal.

(O yes ITS HARDLY BEEN TWO months only)

Jodha hid her face in her palms while Motibai combed her hair.

"Parantu Rajkumari apko unhone dusre mehel kyun bulaya ...",Motibai raised her eyebrows.

(But Princess why did he call you in that palace)
