Apra Mehta, the famous mother-in law of television, is the first contestant to be voted out of Jjhoom India. Ironically, she got the highest marks in the first episode.
Apra, who admitted that she was expecting her exit, says, "It is just the format of the show. At the end of every episode contestants have to cast their vote. I knew that if I was in the danger zone nobody would save me."

Probed further why she felt so, Apra tells us," The others in the danger zone were more popular actors. Also, the singers who want to be famous on television turned against me but I was not shocked. There was too much chaos on the sets as the results were announced. I appeal to my fans not to vote and spend money on SMSing because nowadays votes hardly matters in reality shows. People vote out co-contestants whom they think are a threat to them. Anyways, everyone complimented me on my singing so it felt good."
What was the reaction of her singing partner and judges who praised her a lot? "My partner Parthiv was not here in Mumbai and was shocked to hear it. But I told him that if we would have been in the safe zone nobody would have voted us out. The three judges were also taken aback and felt they made a mistake by praising me a lot in the first episode."
Why did she want to quit the show initially? "Actually during the technical rehearsals, I felt I was not doing too well. I could not to catch the notes, so I felt that if I cannot do better I should back out of the show."
In first episode, Apra performed on the song bidi jalai le. Shabana Azmi could not stop herself from shaking a leg and Mahesh whistled for Apra.
The second episode of the show is coming on air this Friday.
