Itni bhaagti zindagi mein 2 din...bas 2 din Hi toh milte hain jab ruk kar peeche mudkar log yaad karte hain in sab Palo ko .This day means a lot ...atleast forrr me as an individual . How I see people dancing madly in front of me right here in my colony . How I see we have tears listening to those emotional lata Ji song . ...Aeee Mere watan ke logo ...zara aankh mein bhar lo paani ...joh shaheed huye hain unki ...Zara yaad Karo qurbani ...how I remember all the fights soldier did for his ...how I feel like watching everything related to my country ...I am always proud of my country but this particular day ...I am Suchhh a happy person ...Smilinggg...crying ...everything related to India ...Jaiii Hinddd...Bharat Mataaa Kiii Jaiii ...I will not continue furthur on this today ...aaj Ka din bahut bahut special Hainnn...and to all others who got disappointed with this. It's okay guys ...Saw DID promo and I am sure there will be many many shows today which will actually be tributes to our nation .Just give jhalak a skip today and watch the performances you wish to watch a bit later .

I am an Indian ... and I dont need any special day to remember my heroes! Independence day is special ...but that doesnt mean I become all patriotic this day, just watch patriotic songs and acts..and everything else i see is an insult to the nation!

Uff this argument is going on n on n on. I will rather say who is intrested to see indian dance from along with tapoori n mujra on item song watch JDJ today or who only intrested in patriotic song act then watch VD n Scarlett act then change the channel i'm sure for them there will be many patroitic song act on others channels.they will not feel dissapointment.

@-zesty- I don't see everything else as an insult to my nation .But yes definitely I will not like people promoting a episode as independence day special and than show me item numbers there . They should have been careful about that .Or else don't promote as independence day . Why airing Vivian promo so frequently ????...why don't air those items songs promo ..why giving special thing to Vivian dance ...cause that's patriotic they have ...if they can't give a tribute. ...it's OK ...but giving this and calling it tribute , a big no for me .We as a country have been very rich in our culture and atleast this day should be given the deserved respect . I don't decide to become all patriotic this day , this just naturally happens to me .

Made in India just doesn't mean Indian dance forms, neither does it mean only patriotic performances.

It means anything related to India. I feel Vivian and Scarlett's dances are real tribute to India on independence day while people doing kathak, bharatnatyam and other dance forms are showcasing various dance forms that originated in India.

But yes I don't understand how tapori comes under this? [:/] Isn't it very bollywoodish and lame? It is not even a fully recognised dance form [:/]

umm.. i dunno if this is 100% true.. but few months back I was following updates on Bombay velvet movie and as it was a movie about organized crime in post independence era, Tapori as I remember from documentaries of it originated in Mumbai..
Tapori language, dance etc is very much Indian...

There were people who were Tapori people.. though it was later used as lame item numbers in BW, it didn't originate in BW,, it originated on the streets of Mumbai..

An explanation

Tapori literally translates into vagabond or rowdy in Hindi. Street thugs in Mumbai were perhaps the most notable taporis. Their unique style of speaking Hindi was called tapori language. They also had a unique style of dressing, which they called as tapori style. Tapori culture though resented by many is widely imitated by many as humorous or comical. It has found acceptance in Bollywood films including "Rangeela", "Gol Mal", and "Chasme Buddoor".[1] They are the equivalent of gangstas in Hollywood films.

Their style of speaking Hindi is a mixture of many languages spoken by people in Mumbai. It has words adapted mainly from Marathi, and some from Gujarati, Kannada, and Tamil. It also has a few Hindi words spoken by people of Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh due to heavy migration of these people to Mumbai city.

Tapori is an original Marathi word meaning "blossomed", fully fertile or at its peak in growth, which during its evolution/progression (towards the dark side) in the Marathi language started as its application to someone with high youth elements or budding hormones and subsequent behavior of that animal/humans to establish control, create mischief, attract attention of opposite sex and other such indulgences. Bollywood being in Maharashtra (a Marathi speaking state), it inherited that word into its Hindi vocabulary as a "cool-happening" style statement; all such similar words from Marathi used to be recognized in Marathi as Tapori language (i.e. words which were considered "not decent" to use in regular language and are mostly used by people who are deemed anti-social or with similar stature). All such words in Marathi got imported as-is into Bambaiya Hindi with additions from other local languages.

Changing social conditions in India have led to a shortage of work for educated lower middle-class young men.[2] The rise of this archetype in Indian cinema in the 1990s and 2000s coincides with the real-life social phenomenon.[1]

And BW is not authentic Indian dance form
Kathak
Bharatnatyam
Bhangra
Dandiya
Garba
Mujra
Bihu
are authentic Indian dance form

just a quick question.

Where did BW dance originate? I think though it is not classical dancing as this is originated in India and nowhere else I think Scarlet and Ashish can get away with it.. It doesn't have to have originated 100s of yrs back for it to be Indian..

As we were talking on that other topic Colors CVs suck.. they simply gave a too broad definition which means those choreos of Ashish and Scarlet are not exactly wrong either.. so they will get away with it..

And these guys performed on last wednesday - no1 is aware if their act is aired on 15th or 16th.. and they simply followed the broad theme given to them.. to maximize their own chances at getting a good score by playing up to their best strengths..

But its our independence day , and they are promoting jhalak giving tribute to my country . And then using item numbers to give trubute ...is desh mein itne ache gaane hain but certain choreographers choosed this for a day like independence day . And as an Indian I am truly disappointed . That's all what tm is trying to say from post 1 . We are not here to put anyone down , please try and understand .

yaar jab last week usne choreos ko theme dia tha, woh bola tha - 'made in India dance forms' and usne us par based performances kia..
And after they performed what colors idiots package it is not the fault of the choreographers who went ahead and worked on the theme they were given a week before!

if VD has not done Patriotic dance they can make use for advertise, knowing the cheap channel u can bet they wouldn't have mentioned anything independence related at all!
but now they got the chance to actually add that element too thanks to him and Bhavna giving that nice performance they r using it to advertise to get a whole different audience interested in it. Thus confusing the initial theme they gave out last week,,

@bold:

whats this use of phrase of "getting away with it" ?

theme is made in india.

they paid tribute to Indian stars, history. very relevant and also out of the box.

dont make it sound as if they got easy cos they didnt do indian dance forms.
