What are the definitions of bashing/criticising?

I have seen the word "bashing" used in the forum too much and way too lightly; ergo I have decided to create a post to help members here to distinguish between actual "bashing" and "criticising".

I thought maybe the dictionary has changed the meanings of these words I got my dictionary out and looked up both the words and this is what I have found:

bash (bsh)
v. bashed, bashing, bashes
v.tr.
1. To strike with a heavy, crushing blow
2. To beat or assault severely
3. To engage in accusatory or threatening criticism.
n.
1. Informal A heavy, crushing blow.
2. Slang A celebration; a party.

Criti'cise (kr?t?-s?z)
v. t. 1. To examine and judge as a critic; to pass literary or artistic judgment upon; as, to criticise an author; to criticise a picture.
[imp. & p. p. Criticised (-s?zd); p. pr. & vb. n. Criticising.]
2. To express one's views as to the merit or demerit of; esp., to animadvert upon; to find fault with; as, to criticise conduct.
v. i. 1. To act as a critic; to pass literary or artistic judgment; to play the critic; - formerly used with on or upon.
2. To discuss the merits or demerits of a thing or person; esp., to find fault.

So, please stop labelling all those who don't like your favourites/don't agree with you as "bashers" or "haters". Learn to accept criticism and deal with it! All that criticism is not gonna affect your love for your favourite right? I have seen a members calling others "dogs" and even wishing death on them because that member criticises their favourite. Oh and how can I forget about that dog trying to find it's tail wala gif. 🤢 Heights of immaturity! Maybe if you stop making so many posts with over the top praises for your favourite, the detractors will also stop.

This post has been made to genuinely help out, so please don't assume otherwise. 😳
P.S. I can't reply to all the posts because I am restricted.

Edited: removed the screenshots, hope those people learnt from their mistakes.

A well- needed post.
But I must say, this is not gonna change anything😆
Anything that is said remotely negative abt a celeb is termed "bashing" in this big bad IF world🥱

Thanks for reminding us the actual definition Ms Cherie, but the forum has its own definitions and tagging tools for members who are not fans of any actors or actresses, watch shows in general and state their opinions.
When the superstars of the movie industry are not spared for their looks, acting or off screen behavior , why, any criticism against any tv actor causes so much chaos , that you get a name "Basher" attached to your id. For them its a professional hazard , what about members who just want to speak their minds?

Thanks for this post.. Much needed..

Maybe you should add the definitions of hypocrites, moral policing, fanbots, and slaves.. People seem to be delusional and oblivious about those words as well...

2. To discuss the merits or demerits of a thing or person; esp., to find fault.
The key word here is a PERSON. The word PERSON covers anything related to the person, be it their trashy work up till now (e.g Geet and Madubala) , their after dinner walk on some rigged dance show (ermmm self explanatory) or their personality/physical appearance per se! (e.g their teeth, cleavage, bottoms, figure to name a few)🥱

All the moral police out there, please get it straight to your heads or whichever part processes your cognitive thinking, S.T.O.P TELLING US

1.WHAT TO DO
2.WHAT TO POST
3.WHAT HURTS THE FAN SENTIMENTS
4.WHAT ARE THE RULES
5.WHAT IS DIGNITY OF A WOMEN

In short, SHUT THE HELL UP because guess what? Ain't anybody got time for your preachy attitude to stick it up to your moral beliefs instead of shoving your ethical standpoint down on our throats.🥱 You may be from a conservative society where po*n or a discussion on discussion on brassiere measurement is considered to be a taboo. We ain't any conservatives so get off our threads if you've such a problem with our open mindedness.🥱All daddies, mummies, dada, daadis, kiddies join this public forum on their own free will. If any segement has a problem with any post then simply ignore it. Is it that hard to ignore? What good do you get from targeting us directly just because our opinion of some highly overrated celebs is not the same as yours? You get entertained by worshiping a celeb. We get entertained by discussing the every tidbits of rumors related to them. Celebs are not birthday present your daddy gifted you on your 8th birthday. Every bit of their lives is open for public scrutiny so learn to co exist. 🥱

Exactly! Those women activists who like to moral police us about respecting the dignity of women have no problems doing it to other actresses/people but when it comes to their "angel" Drashti they cry foul. Heights of hypocrisy! Plus what have we exactly done to strip her dignity anyway? They have done much WORSE in the past when they called another woman a po*nstar and wished death on her etc. Please practice what you preach atleast! LOL. Celebs are not your personal property, so you simply can't dictate what others have to have about your favourites! These hypocrites are wishing death on us, posting a gif of a dog finding it's own tail, even making a parody MID of a person who criticises their favourites. I'm sure even Drashti wouldn't like having fans with such horrible attitudes!

giving you the very latest examples 😛

is this a criticism ????

Do u think that drashti's teeth are yellow

Why U love drashti?

Poll Question: Why u love drashti?

VotePoll ChoiceVotesPoll Statistics
Coz of her hairs0 [0.00%]
Coz of her teeth4 [7.84%]
Coz of her DD size4 [7.84%]
Coz of her face4 [7.84%]
Coz of her nose0 [0.00%]
Coz of the pimple on her face2 [3.92%]
Coz lallan top is her fan30 [58.82%]
Coz she pay u0 [0.00%]
Coz baba raamdev is her fan

first do a proper criticism then talk ... talking abt someone's bra Size , physical appearance, wishing her death , mocking her fans is not a criticism ... its not even bashing but beyond bashing , all these ppl ( if u are also a part of these ...omni gang ) ... it all started even before JDJ ... in suggestions thread ... what kind of Criticism was happening there based on what ???? comments on physical appearance and mocking of fans

pehle genuine criticism karo toh sahi ...well its too late now ... even if now u all will do none will believe it

khud logon ko gaaliyan nikalte ho aur khud ko kisi ne haters bola toh bura laga 😛

Everyone's emotions run high when they favorite is at stake. Besides, it's an opinion forum and that's exactly what everyone should be doing...discussing and putting forth their OPINIONS and respecting those they don't agree with.

Honestly, people that can't stand simple CONSTRUCTIVE criticism have some growing up to do...as for the rest: live and let live.

@TheRowdiest: I still fail to understand what any girls's appearance or chest size has to do with this dance, reality show...like I said all constructive critiques should be welcomed and respected, but degrading rants:Hell no.
