Mona milked her Jassi image for all that it was worth, so in the eyes of Mona's fan is it fair to vote for a fictional character?! Its not like the janta gain anything from the whole experience, they only lose out on the money it costs to vote but at least they get satisfaction in knowing the most deserving contestant won.
However, in these celebrity reality shows that is rarely the case because these celebs have established their level of popularity, so they can be confident entering the competition, based on their fan following. Mona was throughout quietly confident of her victory or at least her secure place in the finals as she put her energy into campaigning, less into actually matching the standard of dance that Shveta was bringing to the show.
Before JDJ, I never had any complaints about Mona, as I knew little of her, only that she used to play Jassi and how others would rave on about her 'likability' but now I feel she was not a grateful winner. She had to be prompted by the anchors to thank her fans who were voting for her, whereas Shveta even came to the forum to extend her gratitude.
At the end of the day, I know it's futile to argue that Shveta was the more deserving candidate as Mona has won, period. But the public will be frustrated when they invest their time and money into a show, and the results are not as they have wanted. Even the judges were visibly disappointed with the Janta's decision; it's as if their comments throughout the eight weeks fell on death ears as Jassi fans were determined to make Jassi their winner.
Moreover, if we blame the format, it won't change since the big wigs are only pursuing profit and high TRPs. Thus the blame does go on the janta for making such a system successful and rewarding popularity rather then talent. It only reinforces the idea that the world is a very unfair place, morals and ethics have no place in it since we cant even choose the right winner of a mere talent show, let alone vote wisely, to make our democratic political systems work. Finally, I know its just a TV show, none of us know the contestants personally, but it'd be nice to know that after watching a show almost religiously, that the end result will be just.
