I am not criticising anyone or giving any views on the results.

I am just sharing some of the experince I have seen in my profession. Its about law-suits that deal with internet information. Sometimes we write a lot of things on blogs without realising what it can lead to.

Hi IF and any member who think the result was rigged

I have no problems with your views, they are your own.

What I am writing below is not about who should have won or whether the result was rigged. I have nothing to say on that.

I want to share some thing else. As someone who knows civil and corporate law (including torts and class suits), I am drawing your attention to a legal aspect.

So, this entry is just to share what is happening in the legal world.

With the advent of internet, there are several litigations these days that deal with community web-site or blogs. Writing things that accuse or challenge a Corporate body (such as a TV Channel or a Production House) or call it a fraud on a public community web-site without valid proof and evidence can lead to law-suits.

Yes, the TV Channel or production house can sue you for damages.

For example, when a IF Development team member claims that the result was known beforehand without giving the proof, and this is published or available for general viewing on a community web-site such as IF, then, in civil and corporate law it is termed as the website itself supporting the view (unless there is a clear worded disclaimer by the website owners on that particular post or entry that it has got nothing to do with the specific member's views).

Example, a senior development team memer from India Forums wrote that he already knew the result 3 weeks ago (refer link below)

So if you are a team member belonging to IF, not just you but the web-site owners can be sued under common law or torts (simply put class suits involving multiple suers). This can be done by the TV Channel, by the production house, or even by an offended celebrity or by just about anyone (under class suits).

Also, the members here who are adding on by writing further to news calling the channel a fraud. That is your personal view and you are entitled to have it. Please do have it. But when you word your posts or write your views, please spare a thought that you too could be sued for accusing a legal entity without proper tangible evidence.

You may be under the impression that member IDs (or your IP address and internet connections) cannot be traced. Fair enough, even I used to think that. But various IT field professionsals will agree that the IP addresses and internet connections can be traced. So unless you are using a public internet cafe to write all of this, someone who is out to get you .....can get you. Of course it is not easy to trace you, but it is not impossible.

Therefore, if found offensive, the Channel and even the winners can sue you and India forums for statements that don't have a back-up proof.

So everyone, please do discuss. But please spare a thought before you challenge Sony Entertainment Television or for that manner any Channel or production house, without adequate evidence.

Its just not worth it when you consider the implications, no matter how improbable it may seem.

gr8 topic yaar..i knw u r right datz wt we hve been tellin dat if u dnt hve d proof why u talkin like dat...SONY can sue dem..or if dey think dat d result wz riggid or even if mr vijay thinkz dat resultz were riggid..why dnt u guyz go & sue SONY..itz ur chance 2 get a lotz of money...u can sue dem under IPC..dere iz a law regarding misguiding d public..so search abt it & sue SONY & mke money den..else stop makin false accusationz & get over it

PS: Yes the law you are referring to deals with inappropriate disclusores and is often used by investors to sue public companies

Thanks a lot kasturilover this was really needed. Many guys were taking certain statements as granted and they didnt fail to point out a finger at Judgement to sony tv and our Winner.

They dont even fail to claim that their respective friends who work in Sony tv's jhalak told them that Baichung was not the winner and karan got more votes then him so he was the actual winner. These guys dont even know that the voting authorities who supervise the voting process for the show are strictly not allowed to speak about details of votes of participants in public, they are answerable only to higher authorities.

Cant help when the DT of the India-Forum itself is making such claims without any valid proof, its really offending to see such an unprofessional behaviour over here.

I believe in this situation, taking help from Sony Channel is the only thing thats gonna work.

I agree. Most reality shows are audited by a professional accounting firm (such as KPMG or EY). If I am not mistaken, even Hindi film awards are audited.

So these guys put in all thing carefully. I am sure American Idol votes were audited. Some guy even came on stage and spoke to Ryan Seacrest.

Like I mentioned eveyone is entitled to views. The thing is that before we write we should know what it can lead to.

You remember how Star Plus refused to pay Rakhi Sawant when she alleged that Nach Baliye was rigged in favor of Aamir Sanjeeda. Star Plus seved a legal notice on her. In the end Rakhi had to give a public apology.

See my point is that we dont know the reality. So all we can do is protect ourselves.

Its a entertainment show, treat it as an entertainment show.

that was a really needed post..people who say things out of frustration or disappoinment dont realise what kind of influence it can have on the rest of the group..even after Vijay sir declared that he didnt tell the show was rigged still some people out here are very keen to prove that sony tv fixed the show..they dont realise how serious an accusation that is..whoever make noise unnecessarily should realise that its nothing but ignorance and lack of maturity!

Thanks. Thats very nice of Vijay to clear the air. So at least IF is safe.

Its not about who won or who didnt. Channels are run by powerful business houses yaar. Sony will have many such shows irrespective of what people write or think. They must be confident of their procedures. So why take panga with them. We are no-bodies before them. Like I said, we need to protect ourselves.

where did he say dat?? did he apologize for misleading the fanz? i mean he said that he knew d winner 3 weeks ago..he never gave us d proof that how he found that out...if he didnt had any proof then why would he say something like this which tottaly ruined the victory of BB & SONIA...now all d people think dat d show iz fixed & d guy iz not considred as a winner now...

dis iz sooo not done..u cnt just say dat d show wz fixed & stuff
