@MODS Thanks for the note, it was really required. I understand you guys have a tough job, especially in such forums, I appreciate your efforts.
@People who are asking for proof as if those of us who are criticizing Isha's performances are "accusing" her or something. First of all, asking for PROOF for an opinion is QUITE a weak defense. Secondly, I have put forth my views about Isha's FAR and FEW attempts out of her comfort zone, where she has quite honestly failed to amuse me or even the judges, for that matter. Her puppet act was terrific and I am not going to take that away from her , I think she scored 30/30 for that and she deserved it then. Afro-jazz and hip-hop dance styles exposed her flaws, if I remember well, Remo HIMSELF had commented that Isha needs to work on her foot work. I also mentioned earlier itself that Latin American and contemporary dance forms are in her zone because the kind of training she has had actually AIDS her when performing such dance forms. Coming to the "comparison" between her , Rashmi and Rithvik and the latter two having an unfair advantage of having entered the competition late - well, here's the thing. It was a challenge especially for Rashmi-Rithvik because they did not get a chance to SET the standards when they entered, the standards were already set and from the moment they had entered, they had to either take the bar higher or start with a good standard and YET those two have taken the challenge head-on and have upped their ante quite often, which is why they score above Isha for me. Isha, in fact, has had the advantage of getting acquainted with the judges' perception and had more window to commit mistakes because there had been SO MANY non-dancers when she had started and so, even if she made mistakes she could easily get away with them. Now, Rithvik and Rashmi had entered at a point where the slightest of mistake could have proven to be costly for them. Isha's had the advantage again here, because she has been in the show from the day one and that gave her plenty of time to ASSESS and understand the working ways of JDJ. Hence pitting her against Rithvik and Rashmi is COMPLETELY justified, IMHO. Besides, neither Rithvik nor Rashmi have ever tried to take the advantage of their late entry by showing the dance forms that have been attempted by other contestants before, I don't look forward to their performances just because they are new, I do it because they actually DANCE. Please don't say that dance does not always need steps, because that is a weak defense as well. I agree, not all dance forms require steps and there are several dance forms where the expression is through body language or expressions but my problem with Salman is that he chooses only SUCH dance forms when it comes to Isha. Why have I never seen her attempt a hip-hop and get a 30? Or a semi-classical and get 30? I agree that in a competition , everyone plays their strengths but there is a difference between playing your best cards and playing safe, Isha-Salman are merely playing safe. I will give the example of Rithvik here - given the kind of energy he has, and the kind of dance forms he is comfortable with (I read a comment here that claims hip-hop styles are his forte), he has attempted a contemporary, aerial and that too on slow numbers, which are completely out of his comfort zone. Still, Rithvik managed to impress me by getting his energy under control, challenging himself and pushing his limits, THIS is precisely where he gets brownie points and so does his choreographer Sneha, who always tries to think out of the box and pushes him to do something different every time, I'd say Deepak too pushes Rashmi in a similar fashion. Despite Gurmeet's limited capabilities as a dancer, Shampa also pulls him out of his comfort zone quite frequently. What I fail to follow here is, when Shampa can get GURMEET to dance, why can't Salamn get someone like Isha Sharvani to do the same? I am sorry, but no matter what people say, I WILL NOT ACCEPT that their acrobatics are "dance". And as for people paying to watch Isha dance, I have not seen what she does in those international dance performances so I would not want to comment on that, besides that is just going out of context. We are discussing Isha's performances IN the context of JDJ.
One more thing which I'd like to clarify here is that my topic is not based on Salman-Isha's yesterday's performance, it has more to do with their GRAPH on JDJ overall. Like someone already mentioned, it is FLAT - there is no growth.
And last but not the least, don't ask for PROOF because YOU think Isha's acrobatics are dance and stop DEFENDING Isha in the name of a counter POV. If you have nothing worthy that you can add to the discussion and are here with the only agenda of defending Isha or "attacking" others who do not share YOUR views, please stay OFF this topic. And PLEASE , give those of us, who are ACTUALLY having an objective discussion, a BREAK from your defense veiled whining, AGAIN!
