Among the eminently forgettable, dolled-up beauties on TV, Jassi in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin (Sony) stands out because of her Plain Jane looks and believable persona. And now that she's all set for a makeover, will Jassi's turning into a beautiful swan boost the show's TRPs?
"Her strong character is her uniqueness. If she loses her persona, she'll become just clichd television character," says model-emcee Manpreet Brar.
TV addict and choreographer Aparna Behl feels it will be interesting to see her love interest Armaan's reaction to her new look. "But if Jassi has to go for a makeover, it should happen only when the serial is being wrapped up," says Behl. Adman Suhel Seth feels everyone aspires to look better and Jassi shouldn't be an exception. "After all, that's why we all love Aishwarya Rai, don't we?" he quips.
Fashion designer Rina Dhaka says Mona Singh, the actress who plays Jassi in the soap, will lose her steam if she gets a new improved look. "Jassi as a character is a phenomenon because we can relate to her – a girl next door sporting braces. False eyelashes and lip liners would make her just another soap heroine," she concludes.
