"Mom!! Mom!! I am so sor-" Roshni shouts while running inside her room but stops immediately when Simran whispers, "Shh!! Dheere!! Yeh abhi abhi itne mushkil se soya hai."
"Oops!" she tip toes near the bed and sits on her knees. Gently caressing the forehead she says, "Aww mera Ravi so gaya mumma ke bina?" she smiles sadly.
"Acha hua so gaya warna tum iske sang khelti rehti!" Simran teases her.
"Mom! I certainly don't do that, maybe on Tuesday i did it kyunki i was getting bored but.." Simran starts laughing and Ravi wakes up crying aloud.
"Aur bilkul Sid ki tarah yeh bhi tumse ek minute dur nahi reh sakta hai.." Simran continues.
"Bilkul Sid ki tarah nahi mom.." she smiles sadly poking Ravi's nose.
"His decision to stay away was very hard on him." Simran responds silently.
"I know mom, and i don't blame him." Roshni puts Ravi back in his cot and goes to the washroom to change her clothes.
Patel House
"Did she agree to meet Saxena tomorrow?" DD asks him as soon as he enters his room.
"Sasumom! Aap abhi tak soye kyun nahi?! Look at the time!" he throws his blazer on the bed.
It was 2am and he was sloshed with alcohol. DD picks up his thrown away clothes,
"Aap kya kar rahi hai? Leave it, i can take care of myself!" he takes the blazer from her hands.
DD could smell the alcohol off him, and in a disapproving tone she says, "Kyun Siddharth? Why do you drink? You know it isn't good for health!"
"How does it matter Sasumom? Main maru ya jeeyu kise farak parta hai??" he opens his wardrobe and takes out his night clothes.
"Siddharth! Everyone cares about you! Please stop doing this..stop spoiling your life.." she said earnestly.
Siddharth laughs hysterically and walks upto DD, "Do you remember the last time you said these words? Do you remember what she did after this? You do, right? Jab usne hamari fikar nahi ki, toh main kyu karu?! Hum kyu kare?"he shakes her up by her shoulders.
"She still loves you Siddharth and it will kill her to see you like this.." DD whispers.
"It has already killed her." He mumbled softly and widens his eyes as it struck to him what he just uttered.
DD removes his hands, and he walks back towards his wardrobe in disbelief.
"You don't know what you are saying! Anyway, did Roshni agree to meet Saxena?" DD pesters him again.
"I have told her... baaki karna toh usse apni hi manmarzi hai.. who am I in her life.." he says sarcastically.
"Just stop beating yourself up Siddharth! You know she would do anything for you!" DD snaps.
"Oh really sasumom?! Anything for me?! did you forget what she did?" he asks her turning around in anger and throws the hanger in the ground.
DD fumes in anger, "I have not forgotten what she did, but it looks like you have forgotten your manners!" she leaves the room.
Siddharth breathes heavily staring at the empty room for few minutes before going to the washroom to freshen up. He comes out after sometime and notices the files kept on his study table,
"Shit! I had to make a presentation" he sighs.
He goes to the kitchen and opens the cabinet and searches for something frantically, finally he finds it and he exclaims loudly, "Coffee!!"
[ FLASHBACK :
"Coffeee!!" she screams while he closes his ears with his hands and shakes his head to a strict no.
"I bought coffee from your favourite Starbucks na" he pushes the cup of coffee towards her.
"Nooo!! I want coffee made by you." she pouts.
"Arre, yeh kya badtameezi hai ek toh main coffee laaya upar se you are not even drinking it!" he looks sternly at her.
"Baby, dekho daddy doesn't love you!!" she holds her stomach and sulks.
Siddharth's eyes widen up and he immediately keeps his hand on top of hers and says, "Daddy loves you the most, baby!" he plants a small kiss on her stomach and her eyes sparkle with mischievousness.
"In that case go make coffee for the baby, the baby is hungry!" she smiles wickedly.
"Baby, look your mumma is taking najayas fayda of you" he complains like a kid to his kid.
"Didn't you hear the doctor say about pregnancy cravings?!" she asked raising her brows.
"I heard her clearly, but maybe you didn't hear that it doesn't happen so soon!!" he slightly smacks her head playfully.
"No escaping, Siddharth! Baby wants coffee right now made by you!" she exclaims happily as she knew she would win.
"Hmm!" he closes his files and leans towards her, "Baby will get coffee but first Mumma has to give Daddy something" he grins with twinkling eyes.
"Kya chaiye?" she asks innocently.
"Yeh chaiye.." he touches her lips with his thumb.
"Not happening.." she whispers.
"Mumma doesn't love the baby..." he teases her.
"I love him the most!" she shouts pushing him away.
"Him?" he looks at her in surprise.
"Yes, him." she blushes, fidgeting with his collar.
"Umm, in that case let's start practicing for her from now on?" he winks at her leaning towards her face.
"Behave! Don't change the subject. I want my coffee" she pushes him away, laughing loudly.
He pulls her towards himself and raises her chin up, "Acha, coffee mil jaegi.. par pehle you have to taste the topping..." he leans in for a kiss.
"Par honey...I am bored of this topping..." she laughs making him pout angrily at her.
He grabs her waist, pulling her once more closer, "Sorry baby, you are stuck with this topping forever!" and he captures her lips fervently. ]
"Ma'am do you need any toppings?" the waiter asks her, breaking her reverie of toppings'.
"No. Just plain coffee will do and make it to go." Roshni tells him.
"I will be the best Daddy in the world!" she recalls his words and smiles sadly.
"You didn't live up to your promise Siddharth." She mumbles, when Siddharth calls her up.
"Where are you?" he asks immediately.
"I am on my way to office... why?"
"Roshni, maine kal bhi kaha tha ki main akele handle kar lunga meeting.. you don't need to come!" he sighs.
"And maine bhi kaha tha Siddharth ki yeh mera project hai, I want to attend the meeting!" she snaps at him.
"Where are you? I am coming to pick you up." He replies stifling a yawn.
"I have my car, meet you in the office." She said stubbornly.
"Roshni, Please."
"Here your coffee ma'am" the waiter hands her the coffee and she comes out of Starbucks.
"Bye Siddharth."
She cuts the call, and walks up a block where her car was parked. She struggles to find her keys inside her bag, and after a few minutes she successfully opens the car door. She sits inside and calls up at home,
"Mom, is everything fine at home? Is Ravi ok? Does he miss me already?" she asks in one go of her breath.
"Roshni beta you just left home 10 minutes ago! Sab theek hain yaha par, agar tumhe itni fikar ho rahi hai then why don't you come back?" asks Simran.
"No mom, this meeting is important for me to attend and.." she gets cut off as Siddharth opens the door from the other end and sits beside her.
"It is not that important Roshni, if you want to go home and spend time with him then go! I don't want him disturbing us later and you telling me that Siddharth he needs me and I cannot meet Saxena'..." he says aggressively and takes the phone from her hands to cut the call.
"How can you talk about our son like that?" Roshni whispered, taken aback by his words.
Siddharth blinks too many times and comes to his senses, he sighs and cups her face, "I... I didn't mean it like that. You know it. It's just that the meeting with Saxena is the most important thing right now and.. and I.. We can't wait anymore.. We have to do it before it's too late!"
"Siddharth leave me and get out of my car!" she removes his hands and turns to face the front.
"I'm sorry! And I'm not leaving you again!" he yells and faces the front.
Minutes passed, they sat there in silence trying to control their impulsive emotions, Siddharth was tapping his foot impatiently, a habit that Roshni hated.
"Stop it." She says aloud.
He turns to face her and looks on fiercely, that's when she finally notices his eyes; they were blood shot red she knew it only happened when he was deprived of sleep.
"Didn't you get any sleep last night?" she asks with concern.
He spots the cup of coffee kept inside and takes it instantly, ignoring her question. He takes a sip and says,
"How come you're having a latte without a topping?" he raises his brows.
"The topping I wanted was not there" she murmurs looking at him.
"Did you ask?"
"No. I am scared that they will deny it" she says in a trance staring at his lips.
"What?" he was confused, "Next time ask before assuming the worse!" he takes another sip breaking her daze.
She snatches the cup from his hand and says, "You should get sleep, not caffeine!"
He looks at his watch and exclaims, "And you should start driving, not lecturing!"
"Oh Shit!" she ignites the engine of the car immediately as they were now late for their meeting.
Siddharth yawns aloud and he leans back on the car seat as she starts driving.
"Take a small nap before we reach the office, we don't want you snoring in the middle of the meeting!" she laughs.
"Very funny! I do not snore!"
"Like you would know!" she smirks, "Anyway I was serious.."
"You promise you will wake me up.." he mumbles sleepily but drowses off before he could hear her answer.
A little while later... Or not.
"Siddharth! Siddharth!!!" she shakes him up.
"Hmm... sone do na Roshni.." he says inaudibly in his sleep.
"You have to get up for this! It's too huge!" she slightly slaps on his face to break his sleep.
"Aha..." he turns his face to the other side.
"Siddharth?" she calls him again with her excitement all mellowed down now.
He doesn't respond, and in anger she flicks on his nose with her fingers.
"Owww! What are you doing, Roshni!" he wakes up reluctantly.
"Siddharth!! You won't believe what happened! I am so.." he cuts her off as soon as he remembers about their meeting.
"Did the meeting get over? Ohh shit! What's the time? I had to give the presentation!" he frantically searches for his phone to see the time while Roshni ignores him and continues with her news,
"Siddharth we got the deal!! They loved your presentation Siddharth, it was amazing... I am so happy Siddharth... they want to start the work ASAP and.."
"We missed Saxena's meeting too." he whispers.
"Sidddharth!! Do you hear me?!" she pulls his cheeks gaining his attention.
"Didn't I tell you to wake me up? Not only did you make me miss my meeting but also Saxena's appointment? What the hell is wrong with you?!" he gets out of the car pushing her out of the way.
"Siddharth I..."
"Just be quiet!" he grabs her by her shoulders and pushes her against the car.
"You promised.. and I was stupid enough to think that you will fulfill this one when you couldn't even keep the previous ones..." his eyes were brimming with tears.
"It was not in my hand Siddharth..." she whispers.
"It was!! It was!! You could have just done like I said...you would have been better by now! You could be healthy... you could be ALIVE for godsakes!" he screams on her face.
"I am alive Siddharth, but your stubbornness, being apart from you... it's killing me day by day Siddharth!"
"I cannot do what you want me to do Roshni, just like you couldn't do what I wanted that time.."
"Stop it! He is just a baby, he is your baby... he needs his father's love... how can you be so selfish? How can you not feel for him.. he is your blood... our baby..." she sniffles her cry, grabbing his collar tightly in her fist.
"He is your baby. He is not mine. I refuse to accept him. Aur agar iske liye main selfish hun, toh main hun selfish! Jab baat tumhare upar aati hai toh main hun SELFISH!! I refuse to love the being who is taking away my heart away from me forever... meri Roshni ko mujhse dur karne wale ko main kaise apnau?!"
"Tumhari Roshni ka ek hissa hamesha uske sang rahega, Siddh -" he cuts her off,
"Shh!" he puts his fingers on her lips, "You are not going anywhere. If you leave me, I will follow you wherever you are... apne Siddharth ko itna toh samjh chuki hi hogi abhi tak?" he cups her face lovingly, making her look at him.
She stares at him; his eyes gave away what was in his mind. She had to do something; she had to bring out the buried love under his pile of hatred, for their child before cancer could consume her to nonexistent.
