why do the readers buddy the writers and ask for PMs when they stop commenting right from the very next update? Well one might think they are not active...but what is the answer when you find their name in the list of members who liked the update?

i have also noticed some writers putting their 100% into replying each and every single comment without being biased... yet still they have silent readers in their PM list... why so?

to be frank THIS has pissed me off!

well in my experience normally in initial days the writer sent buddy request to whoever liked or commented the post the reader has the complete freedom to stop reading after two or three chapters then the writer can stop pming them no silent reader will come and complaint for not getting a pm dats y dey r called silent readers if the story is good enough people will come and comment without any pm i am the best eg for dat now a days i will reach my favourite stories with out any pm and will press like button and if it is so touching i may comment in one or two lines bcs i dont know how to analyse i still remember once i commented in an ipk story firstly it was just a one line comment i was really excited for next update bcs i started to comment but wat i got a note from writer on above update that she hates one line commentors and they should go away do u really think people will read dat story after that well of u have self respect den will not even open that thread afterthat so the writer should have enough patience to wait for the readers if writers are giving a charity by writing freely den readers are doing the same by reading and commenting it

As a writer, I want to say sorry for her as I really feel bad heading her story. But what can you do...some writers feels just because you write, then they think that they can look below the readers. But not everyone are like that dear and that was my point also. like in the real world, there are going to be who some are bad and some who are good. But I understood what you told also:)

Yeah we aren't referring to the same thread. This was ignorance on my part to refer a thread and my comments on that thread.

This technique I already use. But if I have nothing good to say then I won't say anything at all

As you decide. It is your prerogative on which stories to comment on and otherwise.

This thread in itself is a proof of that fact 😊

Oh no! We are not on the same page here.

Ego is when a writer thinks whatever is being written in the name of a story will be read over here (IF) just because they assume they are 'popular''.

Ego is when a writer decides to stop writing here (here means IF) as there are no enough comments when compared to the earlier chapters. Reasons for lesser comments may be due to the story losing its plot or the writers' high- handed behavior.

Ego is when 2 people don't agree to disagree.

True. But not everyone is the same especially when the opposite party is not warm and welcoming

Such is real life too, isn't it? Not everything will be tailor- made and according to our specifications/ instructions. Need to face things.

Recently, through the TM, I came to know that stories which gets more than 20 pages of comments are considered popular

This thread isn't for discussing the benchmarks for popularity. May be this can be discussed elsewhere.

Here I was thinking we are the only ones who suffer!

Grass always appears to be greener on the other side.

I didn't have to fish out a closed thread. This thread is still open. It was made recently by a member on 8th October, 2013 and the same day I had made this quoted post (I won't be linking it over here. If you wish to know what thread it is I can scrap/PM it to you) And as it is, one cannot quote from a closed thread 😊

Refer the first 2 lines. About the other thread- I take your words on it. Thanks for that info on quoting from closed threads. I wasn't aware.

And yeah, thanks for coming back to this thread!

Can I hug u? U have exactly penned down my thoughts...I agree with u exactly... Appreciation should be frm inside not a forced one...Beside appreciation I think writet should be prepared for criticisation too... I like those writers in the face of criticisations too managed to hold up their story without moulding it as per demands...
Other things I dislike are sudden discontinuation of a story...or suddenly continuing story once written in IF in blogs that too restricted to few...who daily coaxed the writers...
My question is when u r not too sure about a story or may tend to discontinue due to hard schedules then why start at the first place...again when u want to update in the private blog only that too restricted too few... then why post prologue and initial chapters in the IF that too can be read by all members...Is it to gather fans????? Thirdly some of the attitude of writers as u had mentioned like hell I am updating in a busy schedule and will give update whenever I feel like may be 2/4/6/8 moths or I yr... But u readers go on commenting as u have nothing else to do...

I think the biggest complement that a writter need that number of views he/she getting...not some forced appreciation and comments...
And here some of us though busy still try to read ffs here as we find them fascinating...sometimes have to get away with mere liking without commenting due to time constraint...

Writers have to understand that we readers too have our real life and have corresponding responsiblities jst like them...still we try to like or comment the updates sometimes if not regularly due to time constraints...

When writers discontinue a story, trust me, I think it hits them the hardest. So you spend hours writing a prologue and the initial few chapters and then all efforts go into the drain since you cannot have the satisfaction of seeing that story you'd woven inside your head and so wanted to pen down, finished. I myself started a second story when I had absolutely no clue that soon, time would soon not permit me the luxury of indulging in my hobbies as often as I used to or wished to. I had to stop and trust me, it made me the human version of grumpy cat😆

Someone on this thread, I read, said- 'They think readers have all the time in the world'.

Which is just sad. At the end of the day, every FF writer knows, that the readers are the true inspiration behind all the effort you put in penning down stuff. There can be nothing more encouraging than the knowledge that your work made someone happy enough to pen down two lines of their thought on it, for you.

Oh, and I don't believe in forcing people to comment. Bah, you force me to speak and I'll become Manmohan Singh himself. If I am willing, my mouth becomes a Niagra falls of words and I have to be requested to take a break.😆 Only the story, can prompt a reader into putting forward feedback and nothing else. If it interests them enough, most do comment.
