I have always read, writers complaining they don't get enough comment.. silent readers never comment..
True but for a reader being a silent reader is not always a choice.. sometimes they are forced to..
Why will a reader comment on your story when you don't bother to reply them??
Why will a reader comment on your story when you have gala time with your friends ignoring the comment of other just because you don't know them??
Why will a reader comment on your story when you take ages to update a chapter?? Yeah real life is more important then even a reader also have a life beyond IF.. You have one story to write they have 100 stories to comment...
Why will a reader comment on your story when you keep them waiting when you can easily post a Note?? Do you people check their patience ?? or Are you checking your fan following??
I have seen here people set rules for other keeping themselves in the exceptions..
These reasons are enough to hurt a person and then few readers are forced to turn as the silent one..
Please refrain from writing name of the writer
-EDITED-
I have a request please read my post before jumping to any conclusion because i am NOT trying to clear the stand of a silent readers all i am saying is few readers are forced to turn into silent one because they are mis-treated by their writers.
-Can you blame a silent reader who don't comment because she received few pms from the writer stating why you left two words comment?
-Can you blame a silent reader who don't comment because she din commented for few months even after knowing the reason that she was in hospital?
-Can you blame a silent reader who don't comment because she was not given access to private blogs and the reasons given by the writer is "she (writer) don't know the readers as a friend?
-Can you blame a silent reader who don't comment because her ex-writers have left the story, discontinued, plagiarized? i know all people are not same, but give some time to that reader to trust you.
-Is a reader required to praise the writer and not the stories?
-Is a reader required to give only long comments even when she is not comfortable?
-Is a reader required not to raise their when they are mis-treated by their writers? because if you have to be in the good books of writer all you have to do is praise..
If you people agree to this than you people are delusional who think about themselves as a supreme... But to disappoint you, you are not..!!
NOTE
I din made this thread for myself, my writers are too good and i know they will send pm even if i don't comment because whenever i am busy i ask them to delete me and they will say "one more pm won't harm.. read it as and when it's possible".
This thread was a conclusion of comments i read on a thread where readers were literally begging for the updates but writer din acknowledged..Those readers were too naive and innocent that they were being so considerate..
After making this thread I received many pms from the readers and i realised condition is way more worse than even i thought in my wildest dream. Hell, even in real world i have not seen people ill-treating this way.How can anyone stoop so low?? okay, even for a second think you have some silent readers who willingly don't comment still that does give the right to misbehave.. just for few words you will hurt the people also who are your regular readers. You think those people who can affords internet connection, laptop, ipad can't buy few novels to read??
Stop being so pathetic.. Life is one if you can't give anyone a reason to smile don't give them a reason to be upset over..
P.S- sorry for this melodrama, no this is not a publicity stunt.Just wanted to let few people know you how much you hurted few peoples out there in the forum..
P.S.S- Dear readers, if you want you can send me pm i will sent you the list of the writers who will value you, respect you and treat you the way you should be. For them likes, one word, two words, smiley everything will work. But please have some self-respect and read the stories of people who serves you right..😃

About time a reader made a post with his/her side of the story... So thank you for making this post... I would like to add my 2 cents!
I no longer post comments on fan fictions here. Reasons are many, time being the major one.
Well, speaking in general, the reasons for staying silent or in other words not 'liking'' or 'commenting'' on the stories can be many.
- One might like the story initially, but may not like how the story is shaping up. So might decide to turn silent because they want to read the story completely.
- Readers might be technologically challenged too. All are not from the same age group here that they will figure out how this site works instantly.
It may not be about the story line/ certain characters/ story as a whole that put you off about the story.
- Irregular updates by the writer to the extent that you forget what the story is all about.
- Discontinue one story because writer has lost the "inspiration'' to write the story or simply put, writer had not planned the story beforehand. Readers may not comment on that writer's next story for this reason alone. Don't know when they will drop a seal saying 'discontinued'' or 'removed''.
- Writer's attitude for barter system- "you comment, you get to read. Otherwise hell with you''.
- Writer's plays the card of "I don't get any monetary gains out of writing here on IF''.
- Writer likes few comments, doesn't like the rest.
- Absolutely no acknowledgement for the comments of the readers. No general note or a simple "like'' or a scrap to the reader; not even occasionally.
- Writer has gala time on the thread along with the self proclaimed spammers posting stuff completely unrelated to the story. (If you want to move up the IF ladder, there are always Chat Clubs/ Members Lounge/ Gaming arenas and the like.)
For not liking a comment, many access IF on the go, through their mobile phones. So may not be in a position to "like''. Same goes for the writers who don't like the comments.
I understand that the fan- fics here are a two way street with some shows no longer on air, writer's comments sometimes are the only ones which keep the writer going.
But high- handed behaviour isn't going to push the readers to comment. Instead, it will just drive them away.
