Love to read stories on Arshi only but if the
Author is regular in updates - a little delay sometimes with informing is ok as we all live in this busy little world.
Story should be grammatically well written . Just can't read stories with improper English .
ARHI story hai so therefore I always need to find the essence character of Arnav n khushi that we got in Ipk in the story .
In any FF I read I always look for Arnav who is arrogant ,rich, ruthless, smart, Shaatir business tycoon, hot, attractive, handsome, with immense love for loved ones n lot of pain n anguish inside him n khushi who is intelligent, bubbly ,vivacious ,innocent ,beautiful ,naughty ,caring ,helpful n the one who holds strong values n morals in life ,because these are the characteristic of Arnav khushi that got me hooked to this show sooo much n these are the qualities which made their chemistry such hot n striking .
Story should be interesting n hate stories that keep on dragging unnecessarily as then the essence of story is lost
Ipk is know in our memories but still some beautiful works on Arhi by some immensely talented writers we have in this forum help us to revive those magical moments n still keep us crazy n craving for ARHI forever .

I pretty much agree with all your points, to be honest.

A major turn off for me is when an author asks for certain number of comments/pages before updating. For me, reader is a reader. No matter how many readers I have, as long as I have that readers, I will write. I write for myself and the readers. The number of readers doesn't matter. But yes, sometimes you are put down by lack of response from the silent readers. But making a condition for updating is just not right :/

A great post, lazyleaves :D

If the author's personal life doesn't allow him/her to update, I would prefer a short summary of what the author wanted to write in order to get a closure :)

And definitely, if it isn't an Arhi story, we wouldn't want to read it as much now, would we? ☺️

True 😳

Thank you for commenting :)

I agree with you on just about all, but the most important for me is the writing itself. If the English is so bad that I can't get through a sentence without having to conjure up my own, then I can't go on.

I also don't appreciate authors threatening to not update if they don't get a certain amount of comments. Honestly, the comments come if the writing is worthwhile. I find it incredibly rude to the poor readers that do comment and vested that time in reading only to be blackmailed that way. I've seen this get out of line into almost bullying. Not cool.

Format is also important. If there is no index and the title doesn't get updated, then bookmarking holds no value. The author and reader are solely dependent on the PM system. If you come to the story midway no way to know where the next update will be.

In addition, if the author starts factoring in comments and loses the essence of the storyline and does not focus on the original premise, then the story loses its value for me. I would hope the story had some thought put into it beforehand rather than just going with the flow and losing its momentum midway. Its hard for the writer and the reader.

Blogging. Readers are suddenly subjected to yet another forum to follow and continue what they were reading. Not cool. Readers vested interest, time and effort. Running around and bookmarking tens of stories is not fun and no longer worth the effort. Especially for unknown authors that may or may not finish the story. Worst yet is proving themselves worthy of being their readers. No doubt their work and their choice to share. But their is some blind faith both ways that needs to be appreciated. (not talking about mature content)

Lastly, if an author continuously delays updates or never finishes stories and starts up new FFs, then its hard to take them seriously.

@bold - Ditto. Basic English is must when I read a story. Punctuation is also very important for me but if the story is really good, I can overlook that.

Great post 👍🏼
For me the two main criteria are:
1. It should be an ArHi story...
2. It should be grammatically correct...
The story, characters everything will come second. But if the grammar is not correct, it's an instant turn off for me...

I agree with most of your points.
Well regarding the "acknowledgement from the author" , I will not stop reading the story if the author don't acknowledge my feedback ,but in that case after few comments I will not bother to comment.I prefer to be a silent reader.
I stop reading works which are too predictable . I know if the story is based on Arnav Khushi then there are certain limitation in writing work which is completely unpredictable . But I like to read the story which is thrilling , with some twist.

First impression is best impression. I don't continue to read a story which is not appealing in the beginning.I don't read story of the author whose previous work is not interesting.

I like Dark stories if it is executed properly But I don't read a story in which Arnav is too brutal or Khushi is a s**t or prostitute .
I am little hesitant in reading the stories of a new member .
I don't read stories with exaggerated adult stuff.
If the alignment is not done then I am little hesitant in reading the story unless the author is an established one.
I don't read the story of the writer if his or her previous work is discontinued
I don't read a story in which Arnav or Khushi is ghost .
