As u said people always discuss about why they like the story but never mentions anything for their dislike. I am glad that u have prepared a post where u give a platform for the readers to express their reservations.
I agree with most of your reasons since i have also had almost the same thoughts and feelings for my dislikes.
I understand that asli duniya does not always support the writer and people have their own personal life and work. But atleast they should have the courtesy to prepare a note and inform the readers about it . I am also a human with limited memory and i can remember things only for some period of time. So if a writer fails to update for a longer time , i also tend to forget the plot. I believe people here are either working or studying and this forum helps them to relax and spend their limited free time. So no one has the patience and the time to go through the previous updates to get on track.
Formatting - Yes it helps in making the stories reader friendly but i have not made a fuss if there is not an index only when the story enthralls me so much or i feel the writer is new on IF . I am also new to this forum and i tam also unaware of various rules and stuff , so i think this can be compromised. The story should also be grammatically correct and enable the readers to understand the plot. Communication is very important for the success of a story.
Hypocrisy - Yes i have seen various threads where the writers demand for 'n" number of likes and "x" pages of comments if we want the next update. I understand that they have also invested their time and effort in writing it and long for recognition. But i think this is not the way to recognise their talent. Nothing can be achieved through such tricks and even if they get so many likes and comments , i dont think that gives them the satisfaction and happiness.
Yes i have also not read any stories if i find that the writer has many incomplete stories in their list. Now a days i am reading only completed stories and following only limited on going ones where i feel the writer does justice to each update and promises more fun and thrill in the coming ones. But i have book marked many on going ones with the hope of reading them in the future when it gets completed. This is also due to another reason where i feel if i read too many stories on a similar genre , i find it difficult to remember the plot and gets confused with the other stories.
I joined this forum only for IPKKND even after its closure as these stories portrayed ARHI so well that i fell in love with them again. So i too cannot read a non Arhi story as i am not able to connect with the characters. I know i am missing many beautiful stories because of it but still i am ready for it .
Blogs - My Arhi journey started with blogs only and i wasnt very vocal at that time. I read the stories and just moved on to the next one. But now i feel that i could have said atleast one word about the story which helped me to kill my idle time and brought a smile to my face . So right now i am not following much blogs and for the ones i follow i try to comment atleast once in a while. What i find difficult is that u should have a wordpress, google plus or gmail for u to comment in it. I know they are doing it for security purposes but many people like me will not be comfortable in sharing the personal details. So it becomes difficult to comment as well. Not many blogs offer this "Anonymous " mode where u dont need to disclose any details.
With regard to logic I have found many stories where Arnav begs Khushi , Khushi forgives him just like that (as portrayed in the show) even after so many humiliations and insults without his redemption. He even abuses her and brutally handles her but still she forgives him just like that. I understand this is fiction but i feel there should be atleast an ounce of reality in it. Nobody would forget their pains so easily and everything has a timeline.
I havent actually checked whether the writers acknowledge my posts but i really feel happy when they scrap and tell me how they felt about my comment. But i do scrap some authors after i write a comment because i know they will get back to me . Simple acknowledgement leads to good relationships which in turn may be a strong foundation for the virtual friendship!!!
Two more reasons apart from the ones u have mentioned :
a) I understand that mature content also adds a zing to the story when it is written at the proper time and in a subtle way. I too have read many passionate stories about Arhi where the writer narrates it in a beautiful way where u dont feel awkward or disgusting while reading it. On the other hand i have also seen many threads where the writer feels that they can attract more readers and get more likes and comments only when they write too much about the make out sessions , sex and stuff. This makes no difference between a movie where there is only skin show with no logic and a proper storyline and provides 3 hours of torture and crosses "100 crore mark" . I seriously think there are other ways to make the story enjoyable and engaging and hook the readers to the story.
b) I dont think the readers should always praise the writers. If i feel the story a little bit out of the line or slow paced or was not enjoyable for me , i should have the liberty to say it. Criticism alone helps both the writers and readers for shaping a good story and it should be taken in a positive way than making a fuss about it.
*Phew* A long essay indeed đ Zehra i dunno why u always make me write so much !!!!!!đł
