SUBADHRA DEVI MALIK AS I UNDERSTAND HERWILL SUBADHRA DEVI MALIK EVER REDEEM HERSELF IN HER OWN EYES AFTER TODAY'S MISHAP? IF YOU WANT THE ANSWER READ ME
She is from the old school of thought and sees everything with blinkers on her eyes. She went to the Ashram 14 years back for reasons best known to her alone. She had two sons. Her daughter-in-law committed suicide followed by her son for some mysterious reasons.
Subhadra Devi Malik left the house after that and left behind her two grandchildren who were now orphans. She left them in the care of their maternal grandmother Deviyaani Singh Raizada their uncle drove them away from the house. In stepped Deviyaani Singh Raizada, their maternal Grandmother to look after the two children. Arnav's Maamiji Manorama Singh Raizada took them under her wing and brought up them as if they were her own. She sold her jewels and helped Arnav to set up a business and for that he is always grateful.
What made Subadhra Devi take the decision of leaving her two grandchildren whom she adores and go to the Ashram is indeed a mystery? She was ruling the Malik household, enjoying all the privileges, and then what drove her to the Ashram. She never wanted to keep in touch with her Grandchildren and refused to come even when Arnav called her so many times.
Suddenly after 14 years she came to the RM with a mission. That mission was also very mysterious. As soon as she entered she mistook Kushi for a maidservant and treated her badly. Then she never allowed her to come into her room to give her Turmeric Milk.
She did not allow Kushi to clean the Puja items, but allowed Hari Prakash, the servant in RM to help with the Puja items during Janamasthami Puja. Why has she taken such a dislike to Kushi somebody she does not know anything about?
Here it brings out the hypocrisy of Subhadra Devi. She does not treat servants as human beings and she does not mind them cooking the meal but would not touch the food if served by them. If that is not hypocrisy then what is?
She is arrogant, egoistic and very narrow and rigid in her thoughts and will never accept that she is wrong. She is just totally opposite to her very dear childhood friend Deviyaani Singh Raizada. She feels that the middle class people are much lower to her so-called High Class and the girls are always trying to trap rich husbands. Even if the girl is a victim of a Man's lust it is the fault of the girl and the man can do no wrong. Even if the girl was her own daughter-in-law, the daughter of her childhood friend. She blamed her daughter-in-law to be weak and abandon her family by committing suicide but she did not feel her son was weak and abandoned the family.
,
Her mission was to send Kushi out of the house even though she is married to the grandson Arnav. In turn she wants to bring in Shyam, the husband of Anjali. She feels that the banishment of Shyam by Arnav was just a misunderstanding and it could be set right. Shyam Manohar Jha was after the money of his wife Anjali and his brother-in-law Arnav. He married Anjali for devious reasons and was kicked out of the house by Arnav when he found out the truth about him.
Shyam wanted to take revenge on Arnav and Kushi so he went in search of Daadiji aka Smt. Subadhra Devi Malik. He fed her with some lies and so she has come out of the Ashram. According to her she came for the happiness of her grandchildren Arnav and Anjali.
Let us see what she perceives as happiness. Bringing a wrong person who is a husband to Anjali and sending away a selfless girl, who worked for the happiness of the family of her in laws is her way of ensuring the happiness of her grandchildren's happiness. She listened to only one side of the story and made up her mind because the girl involved Kushi was from a middle class background. She did not get the story clarified by Deviyaani her dear friend or Arnav her Grandson who took care of the family selflessly for so many years.
She believed a stranger telling something about Kushi, coming from a middle class background had tried and succeeding in getting married to Arnav just because he was rich. Her frame of mind being that men have weaknesses and the women has to be strong and hold the family together. She literally named Kushi as a kept woman when she found out that the pheras were not completed in the marriage. This brings out the narrow minded and rigid thought of Subhadra Devi.
She tried to send Kushi home because she found out that they had not completed the Pheras. She told Kushi that since she was living with Arnav so long without getting married made her a kept woman. She was attacking Kushi when Arnav was not present. She and Nani were not fair when they asked only Kushi and not Arnav. Subadhra went behind Naaniji back and called Buaji to come to RM. Now where did she get the phone number of the Gupta House? She started insulting Buaji and Kushi and how then Arnav came and put a stop to the scene. Arnav did not allow it by agreeing to get remarried to Kushi. Her hatred and aversion to a person she never knew or seen was shocking. She went to Kushi's house to try to warn her off even after her grandson agreed to marry her. She really incited Kushi's aunt Buaji to call off the wedding with her very evil and mean taunts. She is cunning and manipulative and she manipulated the scene in such a way that it would seem that the refusal would come from Kushi's family. In fact she told Naaniji that Buaji refused to get Kushi married to the family. She will go to any extent to get what she wants. This was clearly portrayed by this scene.
She is so egoistic and arrogant that for the Shagun function of Arnav and Kushi, when she entered the house she did not bother to pay her respects to Kushi's father, Shashi Gupta, a sick paralyzed man. In contrast Deviyaani her friend paid her respects with great dignity.
She also wants to bring everyone under her thumb, as she was holding the reins of the household before she went to the Ashram. She wanted to exercise the same power now. She did not allow people to give an answer to her questions under the guise that children do not speak before elders unless asked for. She had an antiquated look towards life and was not willing to change her rigid ideas. She never gave Kushi a chance to explain the truth.
Listening to her Damadji, she had no qualms in going behind the back of her so-called beloved grandson Arnav in order to bring Shyam into the house. She convinced Anjali also of the same. She is giving full support to Anajli to lie to her brother, who was like a son to her, brother who holds her on a high pedestal and would give his happiness for her. Her lies amounts to back stabbing her brother because he trusts his sister the most and at every point in life though of her happiness only and protected her.
This act of hers of listening to a stranger and believing him and not bothering to check with her grandson or friend has cost her dear. Shyam wanted to achieve his goal in the most inhumane way and set a trap for Anjali. While the Godh Bharai/ Mehandi program was going on he set it into play. In the end Anjali had an accident and fell down the stairs due to shock by touching a live wire and lost her baby.
She came to the house because she believed him and encouraged him to meet Anjali behind everybody's back. She had her blinkers on, thinking Shyam is correct and Kushi is wrong and all of them had to pay the price now. She has made a gross error of judgment and will she redeem herself in her own eyes?
She does not want to forget what happened in the past. She is not bothered
that it would affect her grandchildren. All she wants is that she is right to raise the past and mixing it with the present which she is not aware of. Even if Nani and Arnav told her she would not leave the past.
For all her sins, Shyam, Anjali's husband as a pawn, is now using her and when she realizes her mistakes I hope she will deeply regret whatever she has done.
Anu a wonderful sketch of Subhadra Devi👏.. I always have this feeling she is a mirror image of ASR and as her misconception about her actions dawn on her like Arnav she will be appalled, shocked, shaken and that will be healing of the past.. because she will be healed...I hope you do write about other characters too😊
