This One Shot is dedicated to one of the best writers I have come across EVER, one of my inspirations to start writing and now my dear friend - Muffin (minimuffin86).

For minimuffin86 -

If your Pandora's Box, touched my heart with a story of two lovers torn by religion and boundaries, your Before The Last Sun Sets took my breath away with an Arnav who was a fantastic lover and a husband but bound to death by his duties and fate.

If your Genesis, made me surprise at the story that you could write with the characters that you make so believable, your Across The Universe/Bird Without Wings have made me cry and pray for the character who has faced some really grave situations in life, very realistic and often disregarded in society but still stood tall above it all, to fight her own battles, loving and forgiving, living her life as it comes.

All of your stories have made me fall in love little by little with you, because come on, how could I not.

This is dedicated to not just your writing but to you as a person, for everything you are and I am glad I found a friend in you on IF.

I FARAK YOU DAMMIT !!!

P.S. You might not like it as much, it came out all cheesy...mushy mushy...hahaha!!! But I want your honest opinions, whatever it may be.

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I can never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing

Arnav wanted to see her, but his family was not allowing it. To think about it, he was himself surprised that he was so restless to meet her. It was not even 2 days since she had gone, but he could not wait to hear her laugh, see her smile, just look in her eyes. Yes, ironic isn't it that Arnav Singh Raizada is thinking about his wife and missing her. After he confessed his feelings to her and she did the same to him, a strange sense of peace settled in his heart knowing that she will always be there. But now when his family is not letting them meet, he could not help but feel irritated at the stupid rituals which are keeping them apart.

As he was leisurely strolling across the poolside in his sweatshirt and pajamas, his phone ringed.

"Aapne Kha liya?", She asked and his heart swelled with warmth and pride over knowing she was concerned.

"Yes", he replied, and then continued by saying "Tumhe mera itna khayal hai?",

Quite abruptly she said "Abhi humein jana hai, hum baad main baat karte hai", and kept the phone. He smiled, and could easily imagine a pretty pink blush on her cheeks. She had gone increasingly shy with him since he decided to marry her again. He was quite enjoying the bashfulness of his wife.

The smile on your face let's me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me wherever I fall
You say it best, when you say nothing at all

Arnav never thought he would meet somebody who would be so concerned for him to put him over herself, love him as much, and whose smile would brighten up his days. But now he has his beautiful wife, without whom he could not even imagine to live. He felt happy that he will see her at Mehndi tomorrow, when her family will come to Raizada house. He remembered the time of Payal's mehndi when he wasn't there, and how she got worried and left a voicemail full of concern. He loved her flustered look when he confronted her about the voicemail and then "A" in her mehndi. And as he had expected she did not accept it, sometimes he loved her stubborn pouting lips, not accepting her love, and just daring him to prove it otherwise.
He went to the bedroom, and lied down on the bed thinking about his "Khushi" and slowly drifted to sleep.

All day long I can hear people talking out loud (oh')
But when you hold me near (oh, hold me near)
You drown out the crowd (drown out crowd)
Try as they may, they can never define
What's been said between your heart and mine

The morning saw a visibly happy Arnav wearing his dark grey suit, on his baby blue shirt with a navy blue tie, making him look all the more handsome. He looked at his watch, he was waiting for them to be here, and just then he heard the doorbell ring. He wanted to steal a look at her, before his crazy family surrounded her, so he literally flew down the stairs towards the front door, and there she was, her pretty eyes downcast, folding her hands in Namaste to HP.

He stopped to have a good look at her, his wife, her hands adorned with multi-colored bangles, her neck wore a maroon and gold choker, eyes lined with kohl, cute little jhumkas dancing away on her delicate ears. Her cheeks, now a pretty pink colour hearing all the praises from the family that had now gathered around her and her lips, Oh God her lips. Those pouting, petal like delectable lips, a lighter shade of pink gloss covering them, he couldn't wait to kiss them, bite them, and suck on them. He was jolted out of his thoughts when NK pushed him towards everybody else. Now he was closer to where she was, noticing that she was wearing a beautiful lehnga, with gold zardoshi border all over, and golden choli adorning her chest. He noticed she was wearing the dupatta on her shoulder one sided and her slim milky waist was visible under the transparent dupatta.

"Bas, Khushiji ko hi dekhte rahoge ya Buaji aur Garimaji ka ashirvad bhi loge?", Anjali teased, mischief glinting in her eyes, breaking his thoughts once again. But he saw from the corner of his eyes, Khushi's cheeks turning a deeper shade of crimson because of the teasing.

He bent down to touch all the elder's feet, took the blessings and turned around so he could go away from all the teasing.

Just as he was about to reach the stairs, he turned around to look at her one last time before he retired for his room, and just like that, the time froze, their eyes locked, and every thought and every emotion flew out of their minds, as they looked at each other. Their eyes, their hearts were doing the talking that they never could do with each other; the feelings that always remained unsaid were now clouding over their eyes, their heartbeats rising with just the intensity of the moment. He always knew there was a certain pull he felt when he saw her, and today he felt the intensity of it all the more, probably because now he knew she felt it too. He couldn't deny the passion that he felt when he saw her, although he kept it hidden under the calm exterior. He couldn't believe how he survived these six months, keeping his hands to himself, with her around him all the time. But he was happy he did, because now he is giving her the wedding that she wanted, and that will bring so much happiness in their lives that the union will be all the more sweeter.

It was as if their hearts were beating in unison, a rhythm which was only theirs, and their bodies felt the shivers because of the magnetic pull they felt for each other each. He tore his eyes away from her, and continued to climb the stairs, walking through the corridor towards his room.

The smile on your face let me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me wherever I fall
You say it best, when you say nothing at all'oh

An Hour passed, his eyes on his laptop, his mind elsewhere, he was waiting for her to come to the bedroom, showing any excuse, but he wanted to have her to himself, even if for a few minutes. Just then, he heard the sound of anklets from outside his bedroom. He ignored it, thinking she will not risk it and after sometime he heard the sound of tinkling bangles. He went swiftly to open the bedroom, his heart hammering in his chest as he started anticipating seeing her, and as he reached for the door, he saw her standing outside. Her pretty hands adorned with mehndi made them look all the more milky and delicate. She was looking at her feet nervously, stray locks of hair coming in her eyes, as she was trying to push them away with her mehndi-clad hands. She looked so cute, almost like a soft delicate flower which will be crushed if pressed tightly. An unknown feeling of pride surrounded his heart, knowing she is here to see him, that she was missing him too and she cannot resist the intensity of this desire too.

He brought her inside holding her shoulders, taking care not to smudge her mehndi. He couldn't control and pressed her close to him, in a tight hug. His hands grazing the open back of her choli, sending shivers down her spine. She looked at him then, her eyes still downcast with blush adorning her cheeks, but he could see the desire glazing in her eyes. He could feel her tremble beneath him. Her delicate frame, made him want to possess her in a carnal sinful way.

"You are beautiful, Khushi", he pulled her chin up, met her eyes and said.

"You have no idea, what you are doing to me, Khushi", he whispered close to her ears when she said nothing after some time.
He touched her delicate jhumkas, with his lips, and placed a feather light kiss on her ears. His lips moved close to her lips, tracing her jaw with feather light touches, kissing her cheeks one by one, brushing lightly around her eyelids, back to near her lips, hovering over them, but never touching them.

She brought her hands around his neck, careful not to smudge his suit with her mehndi, looked into his eyes and asked "Aapko pata hai, Jab aap hamare paas hote hai, to hamari dhadkan kyun tej ho jati hai?"

He shook his head unable to form words without losing his control and doing something he shouldn't have.

"Kyunki, hamare dil ko bhi wohi chahiye jo aapko chahiye, Kiss Me Arnavji, Kiss Me." She whispered close to his lips, her eyes passion filled, her lips parted in invitation, and he couldn't take any more.

His lips came crashing down on hers, teasing, sucking, and nibbling.

Just like that, they were lost in that one passionate moment, hopes and promises beating through their hearts, love and faith shining through their closed eyes.

You say it best, when you say nothing at all
You say it best, when you say nothing at all
(The smile on your face)
You say it best, when you say nothing at all
(The truth in your eyes)
(The touch of your hand)
You say it best, when you say nothing at all
(Let me know that you need me)

Lyrics taken from the song by Ronan Keating - When You Say Nothing At All.

This song is very close to my heart, and I wanted to write on this song for a long time. So I have tried to write keeping this song in mind.
This One Shot is Arnav's POV, and I am attempting the lovey-dovey writing for the first time so please forgive me, if it doesn't touch your heart in that way.
But I would love to read your views, good or bad.
It will help me improve on my writing.

Lastly, Thanks a lot for Reading!!!!

So happy to see you are writing more

And this song is something. Would you believe me if I told you I was watching a few scenes from Notting Hill when I got your PM

Yes they now are in the place where this song fits them and truth be told their silences have been epic. Teej sindoor scene, Diwali - Yep they do say it best when they say nothing at all

But what really touched my heart was your dedication note to Munchy - heartfelt and so sincere. :)

Oh honey, I completely believe you. Notting Hill is one of my favorite movies, which I also love to watch again and again.
Yes, the Diwali scene was my inspiration...I think we all say our best when we dont say at all ...hahaha!!! But I still added a few lines of their conversation just because now that they have confessed, it seems right that they say these kind of feelings aloud.

Thanks, I feel Muffin really deserved it...she is my inspiration, and I wanted to dedicate one post for her since a long time. So here it is.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Meera.

I've always loved that song. I've only heard Alison Krauss sing it-but it's wonderful to hear it in a man's voice. Especially since we have your narrative which is the inner workings of a man's heart. There is nothing more beautiful to me than to see a husband's pride in his wife. I love it when I see a man look at his wife with a "I'm so f**king lucky!" smile on his lips. You point that out several times in the piece and I think that is the shift in him. His pride was always self-directed and now he looks outward at her. He is gratified by her more than by himself.
Lovely work.
Maya
PS Your writing is so careful--it shows that you visualize thoroughly--they are both aware of the mehndi--when he leads her in by the shoulders (not hands) and she manages to draw him near without soiling his jacket. Subtle, fine writing.😊
