IP REDUX; Satyameva Jayate !!

I like ur posts for the way you bring the life in to the characters...I always liked the way you narrate the story...so has become your follower...

Another episode which is taking the story ahead. There is nothing much to write as everything is in the black and white.

Since this talk on separation & redemption track is going on from very long time...i thought of writing on the same today.

To begin with, I never knew such track exists. Its post marriage that I saw lot of posts on separation redemption of asr...wether he will be beyond redeeming or not etc. that time I restrained from commenting becoz, I don't wanted to be odd one out & it was a future track. And how the story takes turn one never knows.

To me Right from the beginning ( late February) of post marriage, separation & redemtion never seemed to fit the story becoz of :

1. The equation of arnav-khushi

2. Equation of khushi and family

3. Eqution of arnav- family

In all the 3 cases the USP was hidden truth

1. arnav and khushi could not separate becoz of hidden truth. Even after the realization of truth, they will not separate becoz of love.

2. when the truth is out in front of the family, they will not be able to blame khushi, becoz of her equation with the family and arnav taking khushi's side, though they will find difficult to doubt shyam...so again possibility of separation dim. (I am not taking the present scenes where there r already few proof against shyam.(.mamaji) in to consideration here. I am referring to immediate post marriage situation when there were numerous posts on these)

3. as far as anjali is concerned, arnav & shyam are 2 parts of her heart. they make it one. She will be in fix. Neither she can loose arnav nor shyam. She knows arnav loves khushi. She cant ask arnav to leave khushi & neither she can dis believe the truth. She might go in to shock. Loose herself.

So again possibility is dim (though it would have happened otherwise also.)

This is what I thought initially. No separation. But after reading repeatedly in the redux about separation, I changed my opinion to "not possible to may be possible"

Now coming to redemption:

How does it stands a chance when two individuals love each other eternally & when they know by heart that he/she matters the most in the world & whatever they are doing with each other is forced under the circumstances. They both are aware of it. Under such a situation, if one partner is hurting himself too much, the other partner also will be hurt. 'ahem' can never be above anything when it comes to ones beloved..this is dynamics of love.

I feel redemption doesnot hold the scope between the couples who are deeply bond with each other in love and who are just. One needs to redeem when one indulges in evil deeds with evil intensions.

This is my understanding of love. Cv's may think differently & may bring it out in different way.

To the entire team of IPKKND:

On May 25, 2012, there was a note that was published by the team. You may be wondering why I said team versus GH, right? Well there are a couple of reasons, lets look at them:

a. As noted in the letter, there is an entire team behind the works of this show. IPK is a team effort, we get it, and so I will be treating this note as if the ENTIRE team has written this.

b. And despite the fact this letter was headed under GH, I am 110% positive that the ENTIRE administrative team agreed/consented on publishing this to the online forum.

Now that I have these two points in the open and cleared, I hope you understand that this entire team is responsible and should listen, great and with that I will move onto the important part of this conversation.

First lets address the last part of the note Creatives Cornered, which states "And guys, its a show, take it as entertainment. There are more things in life to get aggressive and serious about. Watch Satyamev Jayate and you'll know."

a. I agree completely that there are far more aggressive and serious things happening in people's lives and maybe we should put our energy towards eliminating them.

b. However, I would like to ask everyone, especially the administrative team at IPK, if you have even taken the time out to watch Satyamev Jayate. I can already hear the voices of [some of] the team stating that they have not had the time to watch because they have been busy working on delivering us "entertainment" five days a week. Agreed, your entire team is working far more then many of us probably can imagine or understand. I thank you from the bottom of my heart (and I believe if you ask everyone else that appreciates your show, they do too) for putting together IPK and delivering every weekday (and Maha Episodes). However!, by saying something like that (read red bold), shows that you really have underestimated the power of entertainment in India and around the World. Lets take Satyamev Jayate for example (and for those of you in the IPK team that have not watched it, please do). In Episode 2, Break the Silence, we saw a victim that was affected by these very aggressive and serious issues, Mr. Iyer. You know what Mr. Iyer stated when talking to Aamir Khan? He said that one of the two things that helped him go through the difficult phases in his life was the Film Industry, which allowed him to create a fantasy world. **

a. Now I am not sure, if this paragraph has hit the right spot or not, if it has not, let me spell it out to you. This so called, just "entertainment" is not what its all about. These very shows allow us, the viewers (mind you ' your customers) to escape the troubles of our daily lives/worlds and enter a world where we can laugh, cry, love, or even become angry. Whether you realize it or not, your "entertainment" gives many people around the world examples on how to cope with tribulations whether by leading an example, or by allowing people to let out their daily frustrations by laughing/enjoying for these 22 minutes (and yes, I try to see things from both sides ' not everyone that watches your show goes through the gruesome struggles of life as shown in Satyamev Jayate, but all of us that do watch your show are taking the time to escape into the world of "Arhi." And for those that unfortunately have to face hardships, your show can be helping them, did you ever think of that? So please do not just write off your hard work by saying "it's a show, take it as entertainment'" because you are unaware of the number of lives you have helped or the number of people's faces you have brought a smile upon). Also, please do not defend yourself by saying, 'we didn't mean it that way,' because you and I both very well know, every word counts!

i. Some must be wondering why am I talking about this, well the reason I am saying this is because I want the IPK team to realize that your audience has passionately become apart of the world of "Arhi." Each of us have dedicated our personal time for whatever reason to become apart of this world. I personally am following IPK to watch the love story of Arhi unfold as a breather in my hectic schedule; others have their reason (you all are more than welcome to share your reason to IPK's team so they can read how they impact our lives POSITIVELY). With that being said, don't disregard the audience's passion (albeit sometimes aggressive nature) because none of us can understand why we all have taken the time to immerse ourselves in your show but we have. We just want to work with you in keeping the story alive, just people have their own way of showing it. I know its difficult to fan through all the feedback you get, I am sure its overwhelming but, you should try to see the meaning behind the thoughts of your viewers. And IPK administrative team, I am saying this to you because I can sense that the pressure is building and there are hurtful words being thrown at your way, which can be upsetting especially after how much effort the cast and crew put in.

b. I would like everyone to note also, especially the team of IPK, I do understand the seriousness of the issues presented in Satyamev Jayate, and believe the messages portrayed by Khan's show are profound and NOT about how "entertainment" has helped the lives of victims. However, I have used this example for the team to understand that the team's hard work do impact the lives of your viewers, whether the team knows it or not.

All right, now lets talk about your work IPK. I want to start off by saying this: IPK is NOT the only serial running in India that has to deliver 22 minutes of footage five days a week and this is fact not rudeness or criticism. You all are under the same requirements as any other show in India. And YOU ALL knew what you signed up for when you joined this industry. Whew, that was harsh, wasn't it? Despite the numerous shows and production houses, IPK team, I do appreciate all of your hard work and I think you guys are different then any other show, you know why? Because all of you work your creative minds to surprise us and deliver scenes that captivate. You know, when I first saw the first set of promos last year, I had goose bumps! I never saw anything like what was portrayed in those promos, it was beautiful, no IT WAS MAGICAL. However, I came back to reality and I thought to myself, "another production house trying to capture the ultimate love story, but they'll fail like all the others within a month" I thought to myself, it always took a month tops for shows to digress from the initial story line. Shows just capture the audience and massacre the entire show by moving from a love story to kitchen politics. Now you must be wondering why in the world are you being subjected to read this, you have far more important things to do. But, let me tell you! Wow, was I WRONG. I watched your show and fell in love. I fell in love with the preservation of methodologies of your team to stay true to the plot. You did not change the essence of your show, you kept true to the love story and I applaud you and would like to say I respect you for this. And I know that everyone agrees with me, you know how? Because of the success of your show. Because of how passionate your viewers are of your show. Because those that love your show spend hours analyzing your show. Because people [that never watched Hindi serials] are now tuning in at 8 pm, Monday to Friday sirf Star Plus par to watch IPK (yes I have a sense of humor too).

Yes, you guys are just like any other show's team, you all are working with the same expectations, but you know what has gotten you where you are? It's because you put in the extra effort to ensure WE, the viewers are happy by adding that touch of magic to your scripts, direction, and acting. I know you do, else we wouldn't be where we are. Don't, I repeat don't! allow your team to be sidetracked by all the media hype and pressure you must be receiving. Stick to what you do best: being creative, maintaining a solid script, directing your scenes with a finesse, and delivering bang on acting.

And agreed there have been times where things haven't worked (i.e. certain tracks, actor's schedules, etc), but we are all human, so it's understandable.

Now lets talk about these infamous numbers, TRPs. Wow, these statistics have probably caused more uproar than anything else to the team at IPK, am I right? I am sure I am right, because I have seen due of these numbers, the pressure has slowly been building in your cooker over there. (BTW, it's being reflected in your requirement to change tracks just in case you have not noticed 😊).

Lets take a look at when the TRPs first took a nosedive it was after the marriage when Khushi was facing hardships from every side, right? Then things just kept getting more difficult, because then the team of IPK had to face IPL loyalties. Families were bound to switch from Hindi serials to Cricket, right? And you all had to even face being at the 8 o'clock time slot when the second match of the evenings began, right? But the difficulties didn't end there, then one of your leads is offered a movie (by the way I think its fantastic for everyone on this team to be given room for growth because you all deserve growth in your careers), and this information got leaked to the public (whether it was purposeful or not, I will leave that to you and your conscience).

But what is this TRP business? From having studied statistics during my education, my common statistics sense says that a sample population is being analyzed to give an estimated depiction of the entire population with a certain percentage of error. But, I am not going to rely on just what my common sense says today, so I looked into it, and you know what I found? Exactly what I said, it's a sample of the population to determine what is being watched in India. HOWEVER, you know what I found really interesting? Nowhere did I find any sort of indication what might the error be associated with these numbers. DEFINETLY there is error in these calculations; all statistics are reported with error because when taking a sample to reflect a population, there is bound to be miscalculations and errors. (If anyone finds with what certainty these numbers are being reported, please tell/show me where I can find this information). And you know why I bring up this error talk? Because I know these TRPs are holding you accountable to your bosses, and sadly they most definitely do not reflect your true reach. I say this because I have seen that: You are catering to an international platform. I.e. Your leads were not voted Favorite International Jodi for nothing (and yes I do know this does not depict an accurate picture but it is something to help you). The show has reached the hearts of millions across the world, not just India. Also, from what I can see, IPKKND is one of the shows that receive the most hits on Starplus.in video player. Why am I bringing this up? Because Star Plus is leading the way and allowing people to catch shows on their player, either to watch it because they missed it or because they want to watch it again. And check out the numbers, you'll be proud that IPKKND has some pretty high numbers. Also, have you noticed any other channel that provides viewers to watch their shows online? Have your TRPs accounted for those technologically savvy viewers that may be watching other shows on TV and IPK online because it's available and the other channels don't give that option? Don't underestimate the intelligence of your viewers! And use this to your benefit when facing the heat TEAM!!! (Now let me say to Star Plus that does not mean you remove that availability! Remember Star Plus you are leading the way by providing this option, try keeping it that way!)

After telling you all of this, you know what I recommend? Teach the people watching your show! These TRPs are obviously the cause of some of the pressure that is being put on your team (I'll let you decide how much that pressure is though). Explain to your audience what these TRPs are and how they're calculated or how they are showing an inaccurate picture of your reach. And maybe, just maybe you will find all of us helping you and your team. Imagine if people knew what this TRP business was about and they helped you in showing how valued you are? You probably would face less pressure about it from your superiors and can deliver your tracks and scripts in the way and timeline you wanted!

And believe me, I am not trying to defend you completely because there were points during the past 11 months that I questioned some of your tracks and thought processes, so I can see why these TRPs might have seen a dip in numbers. Do I believe in these numbers, heck NO, they don't represent a worldly view, but they do show some people were disinterested in what your team has been putting to the front. However, in tracks that have not worked, I have seen you have scraped and reworked it to please your audience. And right now despite what your team is facing, try to regroup, strategize, and execute a plan of action to gain those TRPs of that sample population to please your superiors. Don't take these numbers to heart, and don't allow them to put pressure on you, just take them with a grain of salt and prove that your team can capture the hearts of the sample population as well, just like it has for the past 11 months. Remember that!, its not too late!!

I do read the analyses written here on Redux and can gather the team at IPK all put a lot of time and effort in establishing these various plots/tracks. And I also understand that sometimes subplots need to be changed, but let me tell you, your strength is the finesse and magic that you apply to this show. If you are forced to change your plots due to whatever situation, its FINE, but!!!! KEEP THE MAGIC intact! (And for clarification, I, nor the rest of us demand that you recreate magic everyday, we just want you to handle your work with the same finesse that you have been doing thus far, thats a fair enough expectation, right TEAM?).

Here I would like to tell you about Apple. Yes, the computer company that made Macs, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. You know what I love about Apple the most? It is their ability to stick to their ideologies and keep their essence alive. Just like PCs, Macs are computers, but do you know why Apple is different and appreciated? It is because of how Apple treats their products and customers, because of what 'vehicle' (remember Doodleberry warning you about this?) their products are placed in. Apple wants to give an experience to their customers, and the company does so by designing products with that in mind. Sometimes they even have to face the music of setbacks (and believe me, we all probably have seen and read costumer reactions when sometimes things go amiss), but you know what? They push through and work towards keeping their customers happy. I am saying this to you all at IPK, because I want you to remember that sometimes you will face setbacks and immeasurable amount of pressure to live up to everyone's expectations, but stick to your ideologies, the very essence of why people around the world have fallen in love and follow IPK and all will be good.

I am not here to tell you how to do your job either, because quite frankly, I wouldn't even have the ability to do 1% of what you have done and will continue to do. I have seen the intricate details placed into every scene since day one. You all have planned out tracks and paved the way for us to understand while conveying your story. I see it everyday; with the assistance of analyzers of course, that you drop hints, metaphors, and analogies into scenes and project what you have planned. If I tried to do that, matter of fact, if the majority of us even tried, we would end up with headaches. It does require time, patience and creativity. However, I would like to remind you all at IPK, that it is not everyone's responsibility to understand the make-up and requirements that go into producing everything. There are so many instances where people work long hours, days, and months towards something and only the final product is enjoyed. A perfect example, I am sure not everyone tries to understand what effort goes into making the iPhone, but the final product is just enjoyed, isn't it? I don't hear Apple trying to make their customers understand, despite whatever setbacks/pressures they are facing. The same goes for science, business, law, actually anything. Not everyone is made to understand the process of everything; it's the nature of the beast. We all enjoyed the rain hug scene, however ask how many of your showbies actually thought about what went into making the scene? How many of us realized that "Arhi" were probably out in the rain for hours? How many of us realized what special equipment was required? How many of us realized that there were probably a few dozen people working on this scene to make it perfect? Not many people probably thought about it, but I can confidently say that the majority of your showbies enjoyed that scene. Get my drift? Don't worry about if we understand what you all do, find happiness in the love IPK fans have for you. Yes, that love will sometimes be smile worthy, and sometimes it will make you want to pull your hair out because not many people understand what all you have to do to deliver that magic to us, but it is because of the story of Arnav and Khushi that we all are riding this wave together.

So buckle up IPKKND team, the one-year anniversary is coming up. Take this time to understand the actions and emotions behind your showbies and I have faith that you all will deliver scenes that are magical, especially when it counts. 😉
