I think you misunderstood what I said. I NEVER blame the female victim and very specially abused women... but at the same time I am a strong advocate for women and believe that they should NEVER feel as if there is no hope for them. And that's what these dramas show, and what people think.. There were threads talking about Shayam telling ASR that he'd been intimate with KKG, and ASR would hate her more... What CRAP!! Lack of hymen=Worthless woman? Says who?
Adding my two cents (or 17 pages of responses)
If a woman chooses to stay in an abusive relationship, it does not absolve the abuse or the abuser. It does speak volumes about the precise conditions that lead to the abuse - helplessness of women or women thinking they have no other choice.
This is why education, women-empowerment and financial independence play a significant role. Sati was an acceptable more long time ago, but it was never right. Women were denied right to vote by entire societies because they were deemed less intelligent, but it was never right. A woman is perhaps abused by her husband/BF/father/Male member of family, but it is never right.
The more women are made to understand that its ok to raise their voices against these evils, the more they will feel empowered and less helpless. By romanticizing the abuse on small screen, the signal to an entire generation of young impressionable women is that its ok for an educated, young, talented and successful businessman to behave like this with a financially poor girl.
