Author's Note : Guys i had posted this OS before the Friday episode aired on TV & i was ecstatic to see Arnav lend his shoulder for Kushi to lean on & vent her angst. Thanks to the Cvs for finally answering our prayers. Now just hope that Arnav doesnt leave her & trusts her đł

OS - A shoulder to lean on
Her life just turned topsy-turvy. Her head was spinning. She had been walking away from Anjali Di's room when she heard someone shuffling away. She had sneaked a look & was stunned to see Shyam walking out of the room. Just then Anjali called & he replied Rani sahiba, put on that fake smile & moved out of her vision.
Her hands were shaking & her feet crumbled as if it couldn't take her weight. She was too shocked to even cry. As if in a daze she started walking. She had to keep moving. She just couldn't stand there. She was gasping as if she had just run a marathon. She had no bearings of the surroundings. She just went in the direction her legs took her. Only after her knees hit an obstacle did she jerk back to reality & took in her surroundings. She was enveloped by a strange warmth & comfort. There was a vaguely familiar scent in the air. She realized that it was his after shave. She was in HIS room. Even in extreme trauma her legs automatically pulled her his way, her eyes sought his face, her ears craved for his voice, her love starved heart beat faster as if sensing the beat of its twin heart residing in another body, her hands searched for the warmth of his body, her head longed for those shoulders to rest on so that she could forget all her pain & drift into blissful peace. She saw that the room was empty. Maybe bowing down to his Di's plea he has gone down for the pooja. The room felt oddly empty without him echoing the emotion inside her heart. Even her heart felt hollow & empty bereft of his care.
Like a living corpse she slowly opened the French windows & stepped out. The still water in the pool had a calming effect on her as if he was physically near her & had placed his hand reassuringly on her head.
She drifted towards his garden & his beloved plants. She sat in the middle of all those plants & felt them forming a shield around her broken soul, her shattered heart. She could feel his presence all around her in these plants, in their lingering smell, their gentle caresses. She leaned closer & felt a leaf touch her cheeks. She sighed. It was as if he had lightly touched her cheeks and was trying to wipe away her as yet unshed tears. She closed her eyes.
He came out of the bathroom & immediately sensed her presence. SHE IS HERE his heart told him. He looked frantically around his room but it looked as empty as ever. How strange he thought that despite all the furniture his room always appeared empty & void when not filled with her presence, her voice, her laughter. Just like his life which seemed empty without her. He couldn't continue this charade of ignoring her & her effect on him. He had lied to her when he had yelled that she meant NOTHING to him. She meant everything to him. In fact he was NOTHING without her. A non-entity, a corpse which breathes & moves, which exists but doesn't live.
He automatically moved towards the pool & his garden. His personal heaven in the middle of this HELL which was his personal life. He needed their comfort.
SHE IS HERE his heart told him even before his eyes confirmed what his racing pulse had already told him. She was sitting among his plants, leaning on one of his favourite child, eyes closed, tears rolling silently down her cheeks. He went near her & knelt before her.
HE IS HERE. Her heart told her & she opened her eyes to behold him kneeling before her his eyes gently caressing her face, his fingers dancing lightly on her cheeks wiping away her tears.
YOU CAME she whispered.
He did not say anything but just nodded.
DON'T LEAVE ME she whispered. Again he nodded silently.
She leaned on him & rested her tired head on his shoulders. She did not know what the future held for her, what her Devi Maiyya had planned for her. She was not sure if she had the strength to tell the truth & watch Anjali's life crumble or her Arnav die inside seeing his beloved Di's pain. But this moment was meant for her. Meant for her to cherish & cling on to when in the future everything turns black & bleak. She was not sure if he would continue to be beside her, trust her when the truth comes out. But right now all that mattered was his presence reassuring her that she was not alone & he was there beside her to alleviate her agony, take her pain as his. All she knew was that she had a shoulder to lean on. The rest can wait.
