OS – It's the way you make me feel!
Got the idea for this OS after Friday's heartbreaking episode.
As the tears started rolling slowly down her cheeks, he closed his eyes & clenched his fists. His heart was bleeding to a slow, painful death. After some time he broke out of the trance & to his dismay found the trial room empty. He entered the room slowly & sniffed. Her smell lingered slightly enveloping him, caressing him, comforting him. The image of her looking angelic in that red bridal lehenga flashed before his eyes. Gosh she looked gorgeous & he had made that biting remark just to hold on to his tiny thread of sanity lest he lost control completely before her. Even a few more seconds & he would have taken her as his bride & even had his deliciously wicked way. She drove him to the brink of insanity. He remembered Joker's line from Dark Knight, "Madness is like gravity all it needs is a little push". Yeah little push indeed. With Kushi waltzing around looking like that the push was more like a G-force kick on his spine. It had taken all his will just to not touch her back then. But now he was left shattered thanks to her tears.
He remembered the way she had been looking at the dress. She obviously loved it though she had told him it was nothing special. Clearly she had caught from him the infection of pretending to be indifferent while the heart said something else. Just like how she was influencing him in a good way he seemed to be influencing her in all the wrong way. Soon she might even start swearing WT* whenever she bumps into him. He smiled slowly which soon turned into a scowl when he remembered her tears. Like a zombie he moved to the chair where she had been sitting heart broken. The lehenga hung loosely on the chair where she must have left it after changing into her regular dress. He touched it gently & felt as if he was actually touching her. He let his fingers dance over it, he leaned closer & placed his cheeks against the soft texture & he could actually breathe in her smell. Kushi he whispered. He tugged the price tag open & noticed that it was slightly smudged as if drenched by an angel's tears. He touched the tag as if he were wiping away the tears from her face. Kushi he whispered again in a broken voice.
She stood rooted to her place. She had left the dress in the trial room itself & had come back to collect it so that she could place it back in its original shelf. As if in a dream she had seen Arnav walk towards it. The way he had stroked the dress & whispered her name in his husky voice had sent shivers down her spine. She felt goose bumps as if he was actually caressing her in that tenderly loving manner. He was actually crying softly while holding the dress. She couldn't take it anymore & left the room.
"Please Lavanya ji, don't worry. Arnavji must have got some urgent work & that's why he must have left. Please complete your shopping so that we can catch a taxi & go home.".
She helped Lavanya carry all those dresses to the billing counter where the sales assistant was telling Lavanya that ASR had left instructions to simply send the bill to his office.
"Chamkeli are you sure you don't want anything. Come on don't fuss. At least allow me to buy that dress that you absolutely adored. ASR already told me to buy anything that I want. The bill is so high that he wouldn't even notice that one additional dress on the bill ".
Kushi remembered Arnav look lovingly at that dress & his tears. No she can't wear that dress on her wedding. As If she needed reminding of her first love when she was taking the holy oath before fire to spend her life with someone else. No. That dress will always remind her only of him. His love, his tears, his loving caresses. She hated that dress now after seeing his tears. She dint want to see it again because every time she looks at it her mind will always flash to his face, pain & hurt etched on each weary line of that face.
She came back to her senses just in time to hear the sales assistant chirping happily to Lavanya about some gift.
"Madam you are customer # 1000 for our shop & to celebrate this occasion we have decided to give you 1 dress as gift whose value is based on your total purchases."
Lavanya was ecstatic.
"Wow That's amazing".
The assistant brought a gift-wrapped box & kept it on top of the huge pile of dresses.
They thanked him & left the shop. In the taxi, Lavanya was gushing on & on about the gift but Kushi had tuned out. She was still recollecting Arnav's face & his tears.
From the corner of her eye she absent mindedly noticed Lavanya removing the gift wrapping & opening the box.
"OMG Chamkeli look at this.'
Kushi turned & was stunned to see Lavanya holding that stunning red lehenga in her hand.
"OMG Chamkeli it's the same dress that you loved. Looks like it was destined to reach you. Come on take this as a sign from your Devi Maiyya. Guess she wants you to wear this dress for your wedding. Now don't you dare say no since this is after all a free gift from the shop & not from me or ASR".
"Ok Lavanyaji" Kushi said in a resigned tone. She took the box from Lavanya with a heavy heart.
"Thanks a lot"! ASR mumbled to the sales assistant back in the shop.
"You are welcome Mr ASR. We did as you told. We gift-wrapped that dress that you gave us & told them that it was free gift from the shop. Good Night Sir".
ASR nodded & left the shop. He got into the SUV, closed his eyes & rested his head on the steering. He couldn't give her love or happiness. He remembered her words "It's better to live in dreams since in real world you will only end up with a broken heart"
At least he ensured that one of her dream came true. She would wear her favourite dress for her wedding & hand over her life to a complete stranger.
A single tear rolled down his cheek. "Yes Kushi you are right. In real life we only end up with broken hearts & unfulfilled dreams. Hope at least all your dreams come true"
