I always feel guilty for not being able to update my stories regularly.
Thus I banked up this three short!😃

|| Chaahat ||

Part 1:- In Your Love

Aakhon ki hai yeh khwahishein ke chere se tere naa hate!

Her eyes din't leave him for a moment. She had been working under him for more than a year now. She hadn't realised when and how she had fallen for him. But she knew- she loved him very much.

Gone was that lazy Anika who preferred sleeping late, she would now wake up early put all the efforts to be her presentable best, finish her work before time and be at the office before him. That was how productive her growing fondness for her boss had made him. At nights when she was in her balcony she would only think about him, and reflect on the fact that how much his mere presence in her life had changed her.

Today was the festival of lights, Deepawali. The Oberois had as usual organized a big party at their Mansion, in the lawn to be specific. The Oberois were lovely people, she had grown close to most of them. One year of being Shivaay Singh Oberoi's personal secretary wasn't easy. Initially she hates his ways, hated his ego, hated his air of self importance. But slowly with time she had effectively learned his ways, started understanding his actions and thought process.

Today she felt her heart resemble the lamps. That burned. Her heart burned in the flames of love for him. Like the light of the lamps her eyes shone. And just like the warmth of the lamps disappeared in the cold night her love also to its destination remained unreachable. She had no complaints.

Since he worked from home frequently, Anika also made frequent visits to the Mansion. It was during these work visits she had developed fondness for the family. They were bunch of happy, at times crancky, but kind people. This wasn't one sided! For the Family too loved Shivaay's new assistant. A year gone by and she was like a part of the family.

Rudra and Omkara specifically, his brothers, were people who enjoyed her company and looked forward to it. Omkara had found a friend in her with whom he could have light conversations which he barely did with anyone. While Rudra had found a partner in crime.

Coming back to her center of attraction-Shivaay! He looked like a Prince out from a fairytale today. Dressed in a crisp black embroidered sherwani, and brooch that went well with it. His eyes like ever shining in pride and charm. She couldn't take her eyes off him.

She felt as though a lighting flashed when suddenly his eyes met hers. She smiled and blinked her eyes away. She was scared her yes would give away her secret that she had embedded in the depth of her heart for so long.

She clutched on to her duppatta when she felt his figure moving towards her. She took a deep breath and quickly wore the formal smile, a little unsuccessfully though. He looked to handsome for her to not be enchanted by him.

"Hi!" He spoke with a soft swift smile. He was never quite informal with the people he worked with. But , she was a clear exception. He had worked with many people, many had worked under him. She was different. With time she had quickly picked up his ways. He dint have to tell her everything explicitly. Some things would be done before hand, and for few remaining others, just a look would be enough to convey. She had supported him without complaints, when he had literally included her in his workaholic schedule during a recent project. Not to miss out, his brothers always had something to tell about her every time she left the mansion. But he found it pretty strange. She was quite normal and professional to him. He barely got to see her bubbly, carefree, and humorous side which his brothers always witnessed. Little did he know that every time he was before her, she would polish her ways and make herself professional as possible. There was no chance she wanted to take, such that he knows what she felt. For she knew she wasn't of his match. She did not want to loose the little she had. She was a dreamer, a believer but also practical at the same time. She at times found herself wondering whether she was strong enough to keep those strong feelings she had for him buried in herself.

"Happy Diwali!" He spoke before she could respond to his 'Hi'.

"Happy Diwali Sir!" She smiled.

Her smile was surely infectious, for he smiled back without thinking.

"Happy Diwali!" Two voices greeted from behind Shivaay. He turned and before he knew his brothers were beside her giving her a side hug. He looked rather surprised at the gesture. "Happy Diwali!" She greeted them much more cheerfully than she greeted him. Which he did notice and found rather strange.

"I have something for you both! " she said excitedly.

His surprise din't disappear. Rudra asked her what was it, excitedly.

She brought out a cased watch and extended it to Rudra, who accepted it happily. Next she brought out a book and handed it to Omkara.

"Galib!" He said with shining eyes.
She smiled, nodding.

While the two were busy with their newly acquired gifts, Anika happened to looked up at Shivaay, only to find his smiling eyes looking at her. She looked away quickly.

She did feel a little out of place among the gathering. But every time his brothers or his younger brother's friend Saumya noted it, they would quickly be by her side to give her company.

She stood aside, when his grandmother walked up to her. She greeted her cheerfully. The older lady whispered something into her ears and her face brightened up amused. She nodded and disappeared. His eyes dint miss this small scene. In fact he was rather curious to know what was up between the two women.

He followed and walked up to her. Slightly leaning over her frame from behind he shout out a quick, " Caught you!"

She was taken aback and turned suddenly. She was startled to find him so close.

His eyebrows danced asking her what she was up to.

She smiled slightly. She was first of all caught red handed to add, he was so so close. His cologne hitting her nostrils.

She gulped."Nothing! "

He titled his head and looked behind her at the jalebis being served.

She pressed her lips together to come up with something, anything to disappear.

"Daadi huh?"

Her eyes widened. How did he know?

"Nahi...nahi toh!" She said trying to sound casual.

He broke into an adorable smile. And instantly a smile curved up all the way to her cheeks.

"Tell her I don't know! But just two, not more!"

Her smile just got wider. How could this man be strict, adorable, cute, concerned and loving all at the same time. She wanted to just freeze there like that and keep looking at him forever.

"Go!" He said stepping away. She nodded.

With every step she took away, she wanted to turn back and look at him. No. She reminded herself. She din't want to wound her dear heart. Why would someone as special as him fall for someone like her?

The regret of not turning back added to her many regrets.

***

The atmosphere was filled with the aromas of the tasty food and burning oil lamps. There was a unrhythmic sound of cutlery mixing from all directions.

She finally decided to leave. She searched the place and ultimately her eyes once again rested on him.

Neendo mein meri ab Tere,
Khwaabon ne li hai karwate.

Her dreams were about him, thoughts were about him. She was nothing but things that summed up to him. He was talking away to his brothers laughing and joking about something. He was never that way at office. But at home he transformed into someone so different, so loving, so caring, so lovable. She shook her head. Her feelings were growing uncontrollable by the day. Especially today, he looked so handsome and that smile that was on his face ever since the evening.

She had honestly burned when that stupid Tia his good family friend had arrived. She was like glue stuck to him. She was tempted to go and pull her away. But then what right did she have?

She was very much relieved when Tia had to leave to attend another Diwali party.

She sighed. Slowly making her way to inform him that she was leaving. Her feet din't seem to comply with the decision of her mind.

He threw his head behind laughing at another shrewd yet sarcastic comment his brother had made on Tia. His younger brother, Rudra seemed to have a serious problem with Tia around him.

It was in the slip of a moment that he noticed her walking towards him. She looked a little more beautiful today in the simple lehenga choli. Her hair gently swaying in the breeze.

Suddenly the grace was replaced by anxiety in her eyes. Her slow angelic steps transformed into a wild run. She was darting towards him. He blinked baffled. Before the knew she pushed him, and was over him. At the same time he felt something swift passing them. Her eyes wide looked at him in worry.

Few seconds passed by, and he felt something wet on his neck. His hands held her, and he was breathing hard. She was entirely over him. His heart skipped a beat. Her eyes were slowly closing.

"Anika!?"

Before he could comprehend his brothers were by his side and had helped the two. He saw blood on her skin as the dupatta moved slightly. His hands reached his own neck. The wetness was blood!

Was he shot? He was shocked.

No he wasn't. She was. Shot!

Part 2- Realizations!

He was relatively still in shock. He hadn't totally synced to the situation. He couldn't even comprehend when the ambulance was called to the lawn, when she was laid on the stretcher, and when they had reached the hospital.

All he knew was she lay lifeless in front of his eyes. More than that it was the last second's scene before she closed her eyes that stayed with him. She had smiled!

Tears made way to his eyes. He couldn't comprehend. He had lost the ability to think and react. A strange silence drowned him in. Where? He din't know. His brothers took complete charge in the meanwhile. The others kept asking him if he was okay, he simply nodded.

In all honesty, even he dint have the answer. Was he okay?

* * * *

She had been shifted to the Oberoi home. The bullet had luckily just touched and passed her shoulder kissing it. Hence the injury was minor. But she did crack her arm bone when she had sprang like a wild tigress over him.

She now lay peacefully asleep in his room, on his bed. The guest rooms were all either occupied or filled with the Diwali arrangements or gifts. She had been sleeping that way ever since the incident took place.

It was already late afternoon. Om and Rudra had taken care of everything.Shivaay was better now but still in his silent zone. His brothers had just left him, once they had made sure he was okay.

He now got up from the couch and gently perched himself on the bed. He looked at her delicately. He ran his fingers on her forehead following to caress her head. He waited for her to regain consciousness.

Kuch bhi nahi hai yeh jahan,
Tu hai toh hai iss mein roshini.

He closed his eyes. The pang in his heart. The secrets of his heart he had learnt in the past eighteen so hours in the deep silence he had observed, were slowly surfacing. The scene before she fainted clear as crystal in his mind.

That smile!
It had revealed everything to him yet concealed the unsaid.

"Anika!" He called out softly, his tone underlined with concern and something more.

As though she heard him, she reacted. She coughed. At once he became attentive. She opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was his eyes. A small smile made way.

He smiled back as though he had got a new chance to life. He felt like a man who had been rescued from the deepest waters and was brought to the surface. He helped her sit up, and quickly grabbing the glass of water made her drink some.

She screwed her eyes shut and a soft groan escaped her lips. He looked at her painfully. The pain must be a sharp sting to her delicate self.

Without any discussion or words exchanged. He immediately called the doctor and asked if a certain painkiller was safe. "Yes. I understand. But the pain is bad. I am aware of the side effects. Alright Doctor. Thank you!" He ended the call.

She was amazed how he knew that her pain was too bad.

"You can take this, it's a little intoxicating but it works." He finally spoke.

She was never the one to resort to painkillers. Pain came to make you strong, she believed. She looked at the medicine in dilemma. "Take it!" He whispered.

There was no more thinking. She looked into his eyes and nodded. She winced in pain when she tried to lift her other hand to take it, from his hand. Her body was in pain. He shifted closer, and moved his fingers closer to her lips. She stared at him, simply. He placed the medicine in her mouth and made her drink water.

"Sleep!" He said shifting a little away.

She frowned a little. " I can't sleep anymore. "

He smiled. She was so cute!

"Thank You!" He said getting slightly emotional.

She simpered slightly. She would have looked away breaking the eye contact if it wasn't for his hand that held hers.

"Why?" He whispered.

She gulped looking at him.

They remained silent, for a while. He wanted to give her the time. But was impatient to know the answer to his question.

"I ..."

She couldn't complete.

He let out an inaudible sigh.

"I think you should sleep. You need rest!" He stated pulling his hand back. Realising his hand had been holding hers for quite some time now.

She held his hand. His eyes followed the path from his palm to hers and all the way up to her eyes.

"Stay!"

He sat back.

"Are you okay?" She asked concerned.

"How can I not be?" He said genuinely.

She felt light. She smiled rather widely. He was making her melt!

" I was scared." She confessed looking at his hand.

He started feeling it was the medicine's side effect. But he was more than interested to know.

" I was scared too!"

"I was scared for you! If something happened.." Her eyes were teary.

"Why Anika?" He asked, rubbing her palm gently.

"I..." She couldn't complete. The feeling was too overwhelming.

He shifted closer. " I was scared when you closed your eyes that way." He cupped her face making their foreheads meet. Closing his eyes he said all that he had felt," I was scared when you smiled at me, it was terrible! I thought I'd never see you again! I was lost when I saw you on the stretcher like that. I was drowning when your heartbeats were dwindling. I ...I was scared, I'd loose you."

Tears rained down his cheeks. He broke apart to find her in a semi-sleep state. Her head was resting on his chest nearer to his shoulder. He kissed her head.

He slowly lay her on the bed and went to sit on the seat by the window. While the early moonlight fell on his face his eyes were on her.

He din't know what place she had in his life. He din't know whether the thing in between them could be named. He just knew she meant a lot to him. He now knew where she stood in his life. She was his life! He din't know when, how , why she had become so important to him. But she was very important for his mere existence he realised. His existence toned down to her presence in his life. He gulped. The emotions were overpowering. Maybe his brothers had been right?

The thing he had for her which he refused to name - anything he held knowledge about. He din't know what to name it, neither felt the necessity to. But, today somewhere down in his heart, he knew it was way powerful than he assumed it to be!

* * *

Three days had passed in a flash. She was doing much better. The family took care of her. On the evening of the fourth day she expressed her desire to go back to her own home. At first the family showed disapproval, but then she had to go back one day. Her place in the family seemed natural.

She smiled as she greeted the elders of the family who were leaving for a wedding function. Once they had left she looked ta the three brothers. "Thank You!" She smiled looking at the trio.

"For taking care of me and putting up with me!" She chuckled.

Shivaay dint laugh. His eyes were fixed at hers. He hadn't got a chance to thank her after that night for his family barely left her side. The moments they would get alone were stolen by their inhibitions to speak up.

"We should be thanking you!" Said Rudra directly and honestly.

"He is right, you just din't save Shivaay's life, you saved ours too." Omkara added.

She looked from one to the other finally to the third who was rather silent until now.

"Thank you !" He said softly. She smiled back.

"Take Care!" She looked at the other two, and disappeared towards the gate.

Shivaay stared at her. "How can she be so selfless?" His eyes dint leave her trail.

Omkara patted his shoulder and smiled looking in the direction his brother was gazing in.

"Ishq Uski Ibaadat Hai,
Tujh Mein Rab Dekhna Uski Aadat Hai!"

Shivaay looked up at his brother.

"Kuch Tere dil mein hai,
Kuch uske Dil Mein Hai,
Yeh bikhre bikhre tukde,
Mohaabat ke hain!"

Omkara's words were slowly clearing Shivaay's dilemma. He liked her but din't know whether it could be called love. They were a perfect working team, but dint know whether they could be a perfect team to face an entire life.

But today as she walked away he felt, the need to stop her back. Tell her to stop and be by his side. There was so much that was unspoken between them.

"Go Shivaay, she will be waiting, drop her safely!" Omkara brought him out of his thoughts.

He nodded and left. Om smiled. Rudra walked up to him.

"She loves him so much!" He said happy for his brother.

"He loves her so much!" Omkara smiled, his eyes holding that secretive shine. He understood much more . He wasn't the one to go by words he studied people's eyes. Eyes never lied. His brother's certainly did not.

Rudra frowned, "Bhaiya?"

"Din't you see? She was shot but he was left lifeless, she was in pain but his eyes were moist. Today she walked away and he was left empty! He loves her too. I wonder for how long has he bottled up what he feels. His priorities have bee the family and business. But when she put him before herself. He got a lesson. Almost loosing her had made him realize, time waits for none. He isn't the one to commit the same mistake twice. What do you think? " simpered Omkara, answering more than asking his younger brother.

Rudra smiled widely, "how are you still single?"

Omkara rolled his eyes and started walking away, and Rudra broke into laughter following his trail.

Part 3:- Forever And More
(Last Part)

"Anika?"

"Hmm!" She looked at him as he pulled the car outside her small house.

"Won't you invite me in ?" He gave her a sideways glance.

She hitched in a breath at that. How charming could he get?

* * *

They looked at the dark night standing by the window, with their cups of coffee in their hands. The night was something magical for her. Her heart's content could not be described. She felt like she needed nothing in the world. The breeze kissing her face and whispering in her ears all seemed to hint at something. Something she was trying to figure out.

"Anika!? Is there something you want to tell me?" He asked studying her face.

She was still looking out at the night sky."No." She whispered nodding in a no.

He placed his cup on the table behind him near the wall and moved slightly towards her.

She instinctively turned to look at him.

He couldn't help but notice how the soft breeze blew her locks making her look all the more beautiful.

"Why...Why did you do it Anika?"

"Sir?"

"Shivaay!" He corrected her. Taking another step forward.

She was breathing heavy now. " I did what I thought was right!"

He looked at her like he dint understand what she said.

"I don't have a family. I don't have anyone to..." She couldn't complete it. "...But you do. You have an entire family, your Daadi, your Mom, your brothers, they love you..." She was failing miserably at her attempt.

He stepped closer. This time slightly irked. "What if something happened to you?"

She looked at him. "Nothing" she whispered softly.

"Dare you say that again ." his voice shook, his jaw was clenched. He was closer to her, barely inches apart. He eyes were growing moist. "Do you know I almost lost my life when I saw you there like that! "

The tear finally rolled down her cheek. She hadn't dreamed it that day! All those words he had said. They were real?!!!

He wiped that tear. "Don't cry!" His own voice sounded like he was at the verge of breaking down.

She pressed her lips not wanting to cry. She looked away not wishing to meet his eyes. She was losing all the strength she had summed up to hide her love for him. Only when he addressed her name did she look back at him.

"Anika,

I Love You!" He said those words simply. He couldn't explain to her what was deep in his heart from a very long time now. It was all very complicated. It had cost him a lot to comprehend what it meant. For now all he could manage was to tell her she was loved. His life dependended on her. She was the reason of existence of his world. If she wasn't there, there was nothing.

She let those tears flow. She cried . All the pain her heart had bottled up was set free like the waters of a dam. He felt her. He cried as she did. How much? How much did she love him? How long had she bottled up there that pain of love?

He made her sit by the bed, trying to comfort her. He pulled her closer to himself. Placing her head on his chest, he gently ran his hands up and down her head.

Finally when she could cry no more, she realized how close they were. She was literally in his arms. She moved away to look up at him. Her eye lashes fluttered. He cupped her face and placed kissed on her eyes. " I can't see you cry! " He whispered softly.

She couldn't stop smiling amidst her tears. Never had she thought there would be a day like this.

"I love you too!" She whispered softly, raising her gaze to meet his. " You dint have to say it, you showed it!" He kissed her.

"Anika, agar tumhe kuch ho jaata toh meri jaan chali jaati!" He pulled her for a hug as he spoke.

"I remember what you told me that day, the day I regained..!" She confessed.

"You did!? I thought you would have forgotten it!" He looked down at her.

She pulled apart when she felt it was more than five minutes they were like that.

He got up smiling. He looked around. He looked at her. He din't want to leave!

She simply looking hither- thither. She din't want him to go.

"Okay." He said awkwardly breaking their already awkward silence.

He turned and she called out almost immediately, "Shivaay!"

His name sounded so different from her mouth.Like a poetry in itself. He turned back to look at her. He slowly retraced his steps to where she sat. She now felt a little out of place. She wanted him to stay but it was well, awkward.

She was surprised when he came to her but got on his knees before her.

"Will you marry me Anika?"

Anika blinked. "Shivaay!?!"

"I forgot that!" He itched the back of his head. She giggled.

She nodded in a yes, her cheeks coloring up.

"What do you mean by?" He imitated her action and nodded like her

She hit him on the shoulder slightly.

"Tell me Anika, I m waiting, Will you be by my side forever and more? Will you ?"

She repeated her act.

He frowned.

She smiled cheekily, leaned closer and kissed his forehead. "Yes I will!"

At once he tilted his head upwards and kissed her forehead.

Once he was on his feet, he smiled. "You are blushing!"

She looked away, shyly.

"But yeah, you have to be yourself around me.OmRu tell me everything! From your jokes to one liners, your pranks to your stupidity. Everything!"

She giggled. "Okay! "

He smiled.

Once again he was close to leaving. And once again she stopped him.

He turned back this time rooted to the spot.

"Stay!" She whispered, her look longing for his presence.

If looks could kiss, he was kissing her all over her face.

Ab mujhko jaana hain, Kahan,
Tu hi safar hai aakhiri!

That night she slept in his arms. She was loved, and she couldn't ask for anymore!

He smiled. He felt complete now! With her by his side. He drifted into peaceful sleep!

The two still had a long way to explore and know how much one was loved by the other!

Ke Teri ore mujhko le kar chale,
Duniya bhar ke har raaste,
Main tujhko kitna chaahta hoon,
Yeh tu kabhi soch naa sake.
