ShivIka's Slow Progress and my take on it - Page 2

It reminded me a comment on Instagram that said it's either emotional stagnation due to the lack parental warmth as a child so she wants a family to belong to not a marriage. That she clings to the concept of family even though she hasn't fully accepted them either. If he was really family to her then he would already know about her childhood, her adoptive parents, Sahil's Bua, her friends or simple facts about her. She keeps everything about herself safely guarded so he needs to go to Sahil. She barely bats an eye at Pinky's constant shaming because that's something she recognizes and is used to it. It's kindness and affection that unnerves and makes her retreat inwardly apart from her interactions with Daadi, but even with her she shares to a limit. Or the writers don't know what to do with her character so they are stalling 😆

I'm with you I like the pace that writers are going with. I prefer the writers build their story on sincere feelings and equality. From the start, he was never shown treating Tia or Mallika disrespectfully outright, but he was dismissive. With Tia, her existence in his life didn't matter because he just needed the perfect trophy wife. As for, Mallika he didn't value or give her the affection and love she deserved. She was just another candidate for the "wife" position except she was competent and didn't need a deal to come along with her like Tia be considered a choice. Everyone needs support and affection, but mutual respect and equality are just as important. While he's working on it he isn't there yet. I know it's a serial and I shouldn't expect much, but there are many issues that need to be addressed first.You can't jump to romance with all their issues still pending. Progress is better with a foundation.

I completely agree with you I love the progress in his character, but I wish her character gets the same attention in the future. After catching up with all the episodes this week its obvious that Pinky will be the catalyst in their relationship. She might open up or close up even more. Either way, I'm excited to see what happens next.

i think to each his own and we should respect people's opinion, hence, the existence of this forum 😆 but i for one genuinely think the progress has been great! i am someone who prefers to watch emotional progress more than the outwardly physical one so am liking the pace! i think they have come a long way- people just need to go back to the wedding day and compare it to the present day - the graph of progression is lineally positive 😆
How very true. He has come such a long way from that day to this day.
On the wedding day he married her by force but had absolutely no intention of publically accepting her as his wife.
Now here is is - not only accepting her but even willing to accept someone like NT as his MIL only because she is first on his list of priorities now.

Shivvay's NKK is a belief system. Kinda like a caste system where he grew up with prejudices that he has to overcome. Not to say he does not have issues of his own with his childhood or lack of it from what I understand. But that has no bearing whatsoever on his NKK.

Annika truly is a basket case with all the stuff that she tends to keep bottled up - unable to share and off load.
She puts on a brave front because that is her 'force field' she wears against all that can hurt her. Her antics, her laughter, her craziness and her nonsense is to hide the true sadness she feels at being all alone in this big huge world.

And that is why when people were upset for her not being the 'Dabang' Annika with Shivvay, after her forced marriage, I was actually upset for the insensitivity towards an orphan who probably has traumas of exactly the same thing she suffered at the orphanage. She wakes up in cold sweat asking someone not to hit or abuse her on almost a daily basis, prior to her marriage with Shivvay, and has an 8 year old comforting her, this same Dabang Annika, because of her nightmares.
Now we are expecting that this same girl should be ok after she has suffered physical brute force and mental humiliation at the hands of the very man she grew to respect and trust. She needs to just brush off her wedding skirt, straighten her messed up hair and carry on the way she would have without feeling the after effects of this shock. I remember likening her response or lack of it to one of a victim who has suffered a 'bomb attack'. She had periods she would resurface and fight back and then she had periods she would sink into depression. To top it all she did not have a soul that she could talk to or confide in who would guide, comfort or stand up for her. It was why she followed all Dadi told her to like a lamb because only she sympathized with her situation and did not judge her.
That is the Annika that Shivvay sees now even when her guard is up because he truly and honestly is looking past all his prior prejudices about her, like Om did.
Even though Rudy loves Annika and adores her it is Om who knows and knew the 'Real' Annika under all the masks of happiness that she put on. That is the Annika that Shivvay is discovering.

It is why he always encourages her and prep talks her to boost her morale, "Tum Meri Annika Ho.. dabaang Annika!! Meri Annika kissi Daksh -Vaksh sey nahi darti hai".

after all he did have a more comfortable upbringing compared to her.
If you are talking about physical luxuries - then yes but that does not mean he does not have 'demons' of his own to battle and wage war with. Just as she had little Sahil, he only had little OmRu as he was growing up. The only perk was that he had the guidance of Dadi.

i dont think writers will every explore that though as such bonding scenes and reflection scenes about her insecurity discussion with shivaay wont give them the trps but for that i have ayesha's ff and urs as well to satisfy my cravings for that kind of mature conversation 😉 so chalega

It is true. She is a very complex character as we see the layers peeling and falling off. I always knew that they would take their time with Annika only because they have kept her past such a closely guarded secret. This whole thing is because it is going to connect with the Oberoi past in some way or the other. So the more they reveal the trails of her childhood the greater Shivvay is going to loathe his Naam, Khoon and Khandaan once it is out in the open.

Being the character Shivvay is getting to that point of equality is going to be a slow walk but I can see him getting there. It is his journey, as Gul said, so we can expect that to be a long arduous one for him and us ..lol

I think Pinky is going to bring about a major chance in both Shivvay and Annika. Shivvay's change more towards his mother I feel and Annika's towards accepting Shivvay for his word - that he has accepted her no matter what her NKK
