That's just pathetic for those people to be so dismissive to you and so defensive of such disgusting actions! Yeah, Gul is really immature. I mean, come on, she said "bad is the new good" and then put little heart-eyes emojis next to it, like that would justify everything. I think she just puts this abuse and "beauty and the beast" stuff in her shows because it attracts viewers and fills her pocket. She's probably laughing at all of the people arguing about the show. Laughing all the way to the bank.

I agree! The hero is acting like a villain! Usually it's the villain who crosses all limits, but here it is the hero!

Thank you for this post!
.
See, I read a lot. I have come across despicable characters. Their actions are loathsome. That does not take away from the character or its various layers. Point in case, any of the GOT books. Heck, even Malfoy. We hated him, didn't we? We still loved him though. We hated Jamie and Cersie and still we root for them. My point being, just because you loathe a character's action, does not mean you don't appreciate a character. me being against Shivaay's actions doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the different shades of humanity or lack there of that Gul has showcased. The only thing is, every sin must have an equal redemption. And lets be honest, we ain't gonna find that here. it's an Indian drama. We know that. We don't have to accept that, though.

Also, I am gonna call you a feminist, with pride. Personally, I get really offended if somebody doesn't think of me as a feminist.

You're most welcome! I have no patience for the romanticizing I've seen on this forum! And the fact that some girls are providing excuses for the abuse makes me worried that if they are ever put in the same situation (God forbid) they won't be able to realize that they are in danger and being violated.
Same. It's usually easy to see which characters we can love to hate and which are the ones we should root for. Here I'm just like "Annika and Sahil are bae and everyone else is shady."
I have no hope from Gul for a real redemption. Whatever "redemption" we'll get will just be one sentence from him and an immediate "I forgive you because you love me".

I don't think people realize that if they demand for change they may actually get it. If they stop defending something that is literally a crime and start asking for more empowering story lines, they might actually get a story that could be inspiring. Make Star practice what they preach #nayisoch
Thanks girl!! I'm always happy to be called a feminist!😳 lol me too!

I love you for this post, and I'm so sad you can't see me because I'm legit bowing down to you right now. I agree with everything you've said. I absolutely despise when people try to romanticize abuse or just play it off as a "rough" sort of romance. I think that we're just at a point where everyone wants a woman to submit to the modern day abuser, or some Christian Grey wannabe, and frankly, it's disgusting. This idea of men dominating over women or manhandling them should not be seen as romantic, it should be seen as wrong, and illegal, and dangerous... WHICH IT IS! Thank you so much for making this post!

I'm happy that's you have made this post. I can appreciate good acting which Nakul and Surbhi did specially Surbhi she did amazing. But I don't like SSO at all. You know what call me horrible but I can still stand the assault but I can't stand what he did to blackmail Anika what if it was Om or Rudra in there instead of Sahil what had he done. He loves his family so much but Anika's family doesn't matter at all if Anika had refused to marry him he would have been a murderer of an innocent child??

But sadly the makers dines care at all when the producer herself is a woman. She should be put in that situation and be asked after that does she still find the bad good?

And the worst part is going to be that the TRPs are going to be higher than before because TRP aunties loves this type of crap tracks

@bold: See, there are so many women who are creative heads, Gul, Ekta, Palki, etc. But most of them still have their male leads manhandling and literally assaulting their female leads, and not only that, but they are also romanticizing this to make it seem "sexy." Like, NO! I don't understand how any woman can like or support something like this. This worries me to no end, and I am just baffled. Like, is this the way they want to be treated by men, or think we should be treated by men? Just because it's TV, doesn't make any of this okay and not applicable to real life.

I respect you for these words and all others who are in the same tone. I totally agree that change should rise within us. I'm giving you a small example here, I follow K-pop and recently a song was released in which a female idol was kissed forcefully to which she later consents and kisses back, there was so much much backlash for this scene that they had to cut it down... We girls should stop accepting even a single bad word against us let alone physical or emotional violence. I say this isn't feminism, its rather trying and telling to be humans and all it needs is a bit humanity to understand others.

I'm a Karate black belt holder and so not at all meek/tender, I keep thinking "Are girls really so weak that they can't punch back!!" whenever I watch these type of shows or maybe its the society which made girls in that way. In reality most girls do't even realise an abuse unless it crosses all the limits. I hope this changes and TV being a mass communication medium definitely holds this responsibility.
