It is quite sad and unfortunate, but I have to agree with you completely. I'm from Pakistan and I have watched American, Indian and Pakistan TV shows all my life, and whereas I find American TV shows to be amazing and entertaining, Indian and Pakistani shows still show a very regressive and at times very negative content.

One of my very close friends is a writer and a director her in Pakistan, and I always debate with her as to why show so much negativity and regressive thinking in our shows, because what is shown on TV influences the society. If you are going to show domestic or sexual abuse in a shows, people with perverted minds will think their acts are justified when they target women, men and even children, because it was shown on TV so for them its glorified.

Same goes for extra marital affairs, if a person watching Television is shown everyday is exposed to TV characters having extramarital affairs or having mistresses, one would think that maybe its okay, because even if TV doesn't make you go out and have an affair out of marriage, at least it gives you the justification, especially if you are tempted already.

Also showing stalking on National TV is a big NO, because these days there are so many women facing this issue, and if this is shown on TV, it will give ides to perverts or psycho who are not right in the head or are suppressing such tendencies.

So while I had this debate with my writer/director friend, she told me how she hates writing or direction such kind of shows and content herself, but its the channel who doesn't want to move forward and broadcast shows with fresh and entertaining content. The problem is TRP's and sadly highest TRP's in both India and Pakistan is when a women is being abused or tortured !!!

Yes I agree with you...i started watching this show coz I couldn't tolerate another one ,which had hay wired tracks...completely off from the essence of story ...excusing tracks was becuase there no other way that u can convince them for a better plot coz money matters to them...

I felt this was good , but ever since the marriage announcement came, I was dreading the same angst and hatred track...

Rebellion is nice but how ?...if there is any chance to at least voice our opinion do tell me I will join u...coz even if we stop watching makers will get their profit from the audience ( not fans)who are least bothered about a good story...

I don't know who should change the audience or the makers coz for me both are least bothered about a good story...and there are only a few , who would voice out , but always shunned in the name of profit or TRPs...

Such a good point about we don't even know who should change now- the audience or writers ?

I remember when many years ago the male lead in a saas-bahu show died, women protested and he came back from the dead or at least it caught headlines. Another example is when a popular show ended when the male lead left because of people's petition. Wonder why people in India don't do these things for other stupid shows. I really wish to start a petition for this track and this sadism to END, but seems like people are enjoying and excited for whats next. 🤢 omg. omg.

And I was SOO sad to see the leads promoting this track on twitter as " the calm before the storm" really? I thought the storm was already here. And Surbhi said shes ready for a rollercoaster wedding track. More like sadistic, regressive wedding track that I can't believe they feel like promoting despite being so educated and westernized.

I am from India and I find all this sooo horrible n make me question my self n my sensisbilities...

just the love for romance gets me addicted n I usually dont get attatched to any show...

I find TV to entice men to behave the way they do ...look at them if a woman has SE### with her fiance he questions her very character shivay has literally made her a prostitute

wha tis more shocking is an independant self earning woman LOVES this man who has only mistreated her.😕...

And his ability to force her to get married ...how can the society progress ..

and woman makes this show n actually is seen justifying her HERO and ppl like me actual watch it!!!

@bold: yes that's what people want alll this stupid and completly absurd tracks...they are kind of addicted and as u said these tracks are promoted well too..

whenever i watch such kind of promos ..im like OH shit ! another women butchering....or unrealistic and impractical plots

Sadism - exact word...people are sick i think...and i have no idea how this will change..

negativity gets promoted and optimism is like 'who cares'...

I know right ? Gul is a woman with SO much power to make beautiful, moving stories with the platform she has, and this is what she decided to show. He's mad because he thinks she betrayed him , which is not even betrayal because he never confessed or proposed to her. But he thinks its FINE to drag her around for hindu wedding traditions. Even as someone who is not hindu, I absolutely hate the mockery of hindu weddings on shows these days, Its not a game, for heavens sake.

seriously dude...what the hell is marriage now days I am sure gul would take her hubby to the cleaners if she had a SSoin her life how can our society change if we continue like this...

I cant imagine TRP aunties liking this...

I dont know maybe many shows get sacked becoz of the SH*** shown nowdays...

Being an Indian I am hating this track... I wonder what makes Shivay a 'hero'? He is a thorough hypocrite who looks down upon every human being unless he/she is rich... He is not willing to learn, and thinks he can do anything to the poor... he is a AH!

LOL exactly what I was trying to say. They wouldn't want such characters in their married/love life nor do they watch shows with such content and characters, but they still want to make money from polluting peoples minds with it. Sorry if I sound blunt, but really, we don't get paid money to watch this. Yes, I have the option to not watch which is what Im doing, but its important to raise awareness about what we deserve as an audience.
