Annika's reaction yesterday truly got me thinking. Do the Oberois really consider her as their family? I think not. See, not a single soul from Oberoi mansion bothered asking her yesterday if she was alright except Shivaay. Not even Daadi. Sure, she showed her concern and asked Annika to take some rest due to her injuries. But even that concern looked more routine than anything else. Like it's completely normal for a girl to be stalked and attacked every other day and she is expected to report to work the next day, you show her some frivolous concern and then rinse repeat in the following incident. It's this normalising of the whole stalker issue by the Oberoi family that is bothering me atm. Do you think they would be reacting in the same glib fashion if...say Prinku was attacked in the same manner? I think not.

This particular scene was very poignant in the way it highlighted this, with the way the frame shifted quickly to Pinky and then Jahnvi. Both ladies and the manner in which they just increased Annika's workload without a care in the world (despite her very obvious injuries) sort of just illustrated that they regard Annika as nothing more than just an employee. And it hurt me seeing that so I'm sure it must have hurt Annika ten folds more. They sort of highlighted this in the next frame, with Annika's subtle shift of expressions from that cordial smile to that lifeless, morose expression. And not a single soul noticed this except Shivaay when she came down to the sangeet dressed to the nines in gold and glitter but inside, she was just aching to get out of there. Shivaay noticed that pain in her eyes. And only he noticed...

Oberois always treat her as employee...!
Yes pinky kissed her, because she saved Shivaay... yes Janhavi likes her, but definitely not as a family member.. dadi-Om-Ru always showed their love, but ever since they knew SSO's decision of marrying Tia, I felt that warmth is missing from them towards her...

Anika is so helpful in nature.. she always served them with smile, helped them by going beyond her reach.. she never thought that when they actually become such an important part of her life.. she is a woman of pride and self respect.. she always thought that her employer will never doubt her about that.. but her overhearing on SSO's words has killed her inside... she came to know that he even doubt her intention about all her good deeds...

She has been behaving as professional ever since the marriage announcement.. even in karwachat when Janhavi said that she will be happy if Anika is there she politely said 'it's her duty and she should be present there'.. and yes time it feels that she is suffocating, as if trying to vanish from the place..!! She is ALL DONE..!!

Thanks for pointing out that scene with the Oberoi ladies. that scene struck me as weird, but your pov made it clear, how she she suddenly mistrustful and painfully aware that this is just a job. Tia has taken the sense of belonging away. it's really sad now.
I was afraid to make a post about this earlier because I thought I was over examining Annika's change (which I think I tend to do often ..lol). From the moment she walked in, I too got the feeling that she just wanted to be anywhere but the OM today. She looks exhausted with all stuff that has been dragged into her already complicated and hard life by just being associated with the Oberoi's. At this point she wants this whole fiasco of a wedding to be over and her job completed so that she can put some distance between HER and THEM and just breathe.

My heart aches for Annika. She looks so lost and vulnerable , I feel like whisking her away from these Oberois for awhile. Or holding her hand and helping her out. She really needs a friend, someone like Sahil. Such a shame that the actor playing him is unavailable at this crucial time.
I agree. These two siblings, even with the age gap and no blood ties, share such a mature and stable relationship. For an 8 year old Sahil is an attentive and patient little brother who has time to listen to how his sisters day was and what troubles she had to face.
With him losing his parents at such a young age he too has seen a loss of Childhood and feels responsible (in his own little way) for Annika and protecting her. He is the 'rock' in her life of storms that she holds on too and she needs him right now. She knows his love for her is unconditional and complete and that will never change.

I feel mad at Shivaay. What is he trying to do? Doesn't he realize he's at his own Sangeet? you know where he's the freaking GROOM !! Stay the hell away from Annika already...!! You can't keep her at arms length AND pull her closer to you at the same time.
I agree with you but these are feelings that are very alien to Shivvay who is not only trying to understand them but also trying very hard to overcome them. He has been hit hard and does not even know what it is that has hit him. You know how they say that that the first step towards curing yourself is actually admitting that you have a sickness. The man has not acknowledged it yet that Annika does matter in his life.
But yes - Kalu the donkey is definitely on my list of 'shrinks' for him ... 😆

With what right did you feel you could decide for her on the eve of your own wedding, Shivaay ?
Kis Haq se ?

I feel awful for Shivaay , but his cowardly behaviour made him deserve this.

Lovely WU Yellowmellow. 😃
You have grabbed the scene and written it so well. Reading it now makes so much more sense. Why Anika brushed aside dad's concern for her. It is all superficial and shallow. No one is there for HER. She is truly ALONE but she is still standing strong and not drooping, broken or wilted. That says so much about her spirit.

She did have a mark on the side of her neck that was visible but none bothered to notice it or even ask her if she was fine. Including Shivaay. He did not notice that..wonder what his reaction would have been if he had seen it. Would have gone ballistic. Or taken the safe and tested way by calling his personal physician.

I think the curtain has fallen for her on the Oberois' and she sees them as they are selfish and all about themselves. She has realized that she has no place in their life or in their hearts. She was uncomfortable for the first time ever I feel.

Lovely comments by folks here. 👏

Well her importance in their lives was highlighted many times before, like for example in the Rakshabandhan day when they couldn't arrange some simple costumes without her.

I've always felt they treated her like an employee and not a family member. Sure, she is allowed to join them in their family functions and fun, but that's where it ends. It actually feels more like compensation because the girl saved their lives so many times. She is not even allowed to sit with them in the major events like poojas and when a suitor comes to see their girl, like in Prinku's wedding, she was not sitting in main hall with rest of the family. So while every one calls her 'family', only Shivaay has ever treated her as one.

You write beautifully and it carries so much more depth than any of the episodes in the recent past.

Emotions wise, it was probably a realistic episode (I agree to this only because you are saying it) but presentation wise this show is becoming more unrealistic by the day. Anika dressed more like a bride at the Sangeet than Tia cannot be termed realistic and this example is just the tip of the iceberg.

Im actually a tiny bit impressed by the throwaway lines/scenes they ARE giving to explain Anika turning up at the Mansion in designer wear and forcing Shivaay's eyes to goggle right out of his aristocratic head. The fantastic black floral and sequin ghagra at the aborted Shitia wedding was Om and Prinku's gift, clearly Shivaay got her the sexy little red off the shoulder number for the Diwali celebrations (I assume she opened the box! 😆) and the yellow ghagra with the weird cape/dupatta thing for Karvachauth was Janvi's gift to her for arranging stuff for them. Her jewelry is all clearly fake stuff you could plausibly buy in Chandni Chawk.

As for the sangeet, I suspended disbelief a little. But, also, the idea she would be dressed like that it tied in if you notice that they also included the theme to Saumya, who is just Dadi's live-in guest. If she can been given the same clothing as them, being unrelated, Anika as the wedding planner and current favorite can be--albeit with more sequins.

I actually also like her realistically repeating her outfits/tops with those excellent form fitting jeans. I don't find the styling off on Ishqbaaz. Admittedly, though, I have serious issues with the Omkara and Rudra and Shivaay bond taking such a HUGE back seat over the past 50 episodes. I am not asking for kitchen dancing which feel forced now. I am asking for the natural, real and deep bond with their heart-to-heart conversations. Since all three are currently nursing huge secrets they cannot reveal, maybe some acknowledgement that all three are hurting becauzse they are staying apart-- but that is another post.

I get that they are all gifts but who gifts something that is grander than what they themselves wear. Anika's clothes are grander than even Prinku's most of the time. If they are trying to balance her reuse of tops and jeans against this elaborate clothes she wears otherwise...it aint working for me.

Even if Anika's jewellery is from Chandni Chowk, they don't come free but cost money. She is constantly borrowing money from Dadi be it for the house loan or fro Sahil's boarding and she buys such elaborate jewellery for the weddig? Clearly , c (even if the money was given to her as bonus, wouldn't most people use that to take care of other stuff like paying off loans)

I am not here to stop you guys from enjoying yourself. Was just trying to say that Indian shows maybe far removed from reality most of the time...and Ishqbaaz is touching teetering on surrealism most of the time.
