Chapter 15: Teeno lok usi ki satta

(Guest house gardens, wee hours in the night)

She wasn't getting any sleep; hence, she had come there for fresh air. The place reminded her of the conversation she had with him long back where she had consoled him. It took her a few moments to realise that there were tears in her eyes- tears of frustration. What she was getting attracted to in him was also what was being the biggest hurdle for them: his black and white philosophy. And he had been so quick to judge, didn't even give her time to explain him or to make him understand. Ishana Sareen had never been the person to get affected like this, yet the situation seemed to be totally undesirable. She had dated many, some had ditched her and from some relationships she had walked off unaffected. But, this was entirely different. No commitment, no dating and no relationship- yet, his words were like knife on her heart. And then she heard a few footsteps.

'Omk...' She stopped as she turned back to see her father, embarrassed at realising that she needed to talk to him, to fight with him for being like that and not understanding her.

'No, sadly it's your boring dad.'

'he comes very often in the night, so I thought'

'Or you want him to be here?'

'Dad!'

'It's okay to like a person Ishu. Liking is a natural instinct that can't be controlled.'

'But he feels we can't understand each other. He just wants us to be professional, that's it.'

Sareen smiled at his daughter. The young love filled with misunderstandings and anger; but also making the love stronger. Could he have ever thought that his Ishu would be so much into love? - but he was glad that she was.

'Your mom said Ishu- relationships are like plants- need to be taken care of properly. And some people are scared to trust, for that makes them the most vulnerable. It's upto you whether you want to deal with it or not.'

She got a hint from her dad. Perhaps, in time she would decide: she wants to deal with him or not.

(Om's art table, OM, wee hours in the night)

He was angry- on himself or her was not clear. Hadn't he always done that to his close ones? Whenever he was hurt by a person close to him, he would ask the person to leave. Even Shivaay and Rudra never lied to him; they did make him understand the purpose behind their actions and even when he didn't perceive it right always, he would allow them to go ahead with it. She hadn't trusted him with that or perhaps, she hadn't cared enough for that. He didn't stand much importance in her life; so it was better to let her go before it got too much for him. But letting her go also hurt him a lot. It was these times when he wished to be like either of ShivRu who wouldn't have gotten affected by the previous events. Even the sculpture he was trying to start wasn't coming out in the way it should, he threw it off in anger from the table.

'No plans to sleep?'

'Tu bhi toh abhi tak soya nai?'

'Point. Mai ek meeting khatm karke aa raha tha, it suddenly came up.' He picked up one of the pieces of the would-have-been sculpture, looking questioningly in Om's eyes.

'Ishana se baat hui teri?' He had learnt the hard way to understand what was going on his brother's mind. His two instances with drugs had made him much careful. He would push him to speak but wouldn't let him to go back to darkness had been his promise to his brother.

'Shivaay...'

'Om, just share it. Bhai hun mai tera.'

'Kabhi aisa lagta hai na Shivaay, ki koi alag hai tumse magar phir bhi nazdeek hai. Aur phir sach saamne ata hai toh realise hota hai, ki wo kabhi ek doosre ko samaj nahi skte.'

'Om, teri baatein puri tarah samaj nahi ati mujhe. But, did you let her explain, atleast speak?'

'She told right? I understand only black and white; perhaps, that's the way I am. And she even said that it's better to remain only professionals, business you see- wo hi toh important hota hai.'

Shivaay was at peace seeing this brother vent out his frustration and was also sure that most of the things Ishana said were in anger. After all, her anger was at par with his brother's Both sharp-worded and hot-headed. But, he needed to console his brother for now at least.

'Om, rishton ko main kabhi utni achi tarah nahi samaj pata jaise ki tu. But haan, itna samajta hun ki kuch cheezon ko time pe chod dena chahiye. Kuch tumne bola aur kuch usne so just let it be. Just be normal from tomorrow and then see, where do you guys go.'

For the first time, Om didn't retort back, however, he narrowed his eyes- was it possible that Shivaay knew what was going in his heart? A smile appeared on his face as he thought how much his brother cared for him. He did feel frustrated somewhere on whatever happened with Ishana but also felt a little relieved on talking to his brother. He would give it a shot- not to think much and give time.

(Soumya's room, morning)

He sat there for around half an hour. How much time these girls take to get ready? And why on the earth did he think that Sumo is different- she is just different in eating, otherwise a typical girl. And finally she appeared.

'Omg Rudra, tum subh subh yahan kya kar rahe ho?'

'Tum ready hone mein kitna time leti ho?'

'Main!! Main kitna ti-ime leti hun? Aur ye puch kaun raha hai- tum?'

He thought it better to simply accept whatever she said; for right now, he needed his love angel to sort out his brothers' love life.

'Umm okay. I am just impatient kyuki bahut zaruri kaam hai tumse'

She was amazed at an easy win from Rudra. He had given in without even fighting for it.

'Hume kuch karna hoga. Jahan ShivIka ki fights entertaining hoti hai, y IshKara ki fight to h mujhe dara rahi hai. Aur ShivIka ko bhi toh ek dusre ko confess kena bacha hai.'

'Hmmm...best toh ye hoga ki hum log koi outing plan kare.'

Outing made Rudra also jump with excitement.

'Arre haan!! O ne mujhe promise kia tha ki agar ye case solve hogya toh all bros will go on a holiday!'

'Tum apne fayde ke siva kuch soch nahi sakte na?'

'Arrre!!! We'll also take Anika di, Ishana di and you!!'

'Mai!! Mai kyun?'

'Offo! Taaki tum meri help karo ishkara aur shivika ko sath mein lane mein'

Saumya made a face hearing this. That was all the importance she had in his life.

'But please, Rehaan ko mat lana'

This sudden blurting out from Rudra made Soumya lighten up.

'kyun?'

The question made Rudtra a little nervous, what should be his problem with the guy, there was no reason. Yet, he didn't like him around- at all.

'Wo... Wo...I mean wh sirf tuko jaanta hai toh thora uncomfortable rahega and sab couples ho jaeng toh main bore ho jaunga'

Saumya wished for a moment that Rudra would dislike rehaan for being close to her. But she metally smacked herself on the thoughts- ofcourse, he would be bored id she were to spend all time with him. For her, he was thefriend for whom she wouldn't mind doing a bit and she was sure that Rehaan would let her go too.

'Par Anika aur Ishana di ko manaenge kaise dumbbell Oberoi???'

'Hehe! Anika di ko O and Ishana di ko Shivaay bhaiya manaenge kyuki wo log ek dusre ki love stories samajte hain magar apni nahi'

'And then his phone rung.

'Maine kaha na mai nikal rahan hun. Tumhara kaam kar raha hun main.' And he left hurriedly.

At this, Soumya's eyes widened. Who would Rudra be talking to like that. Were the things much more serious than they appeared? Perhaps, bade bhaiya and majhle bhaiya could solve the puzzle better- she no more even cared if Rudra blames her for whatever ensues.

(Dining hall, breakfast time)

Breakfast on sofa that too prepared by the O Bros together- what could be a better time for Rudy to talk about the plan.

'O... Bhaiya... aap logon ko nahi lgta ki aap log kuch bhul rahe ho?'

'Well, tujhe gift dene wala toh koi occasion nahi hai.. so...'

'O! Aapne thore time pehle kuch promise kiya tha shayd! Kuch yaad aya?'

Shivaay looked at the confused brother cluelessly. Even he had no idea of what was going on.

'Aapne promise kia tha ki agar aap iss case se free hogye toh hum log ek trip pe jaenge!'

Honestly, Om did feel a little guilty; Rudy did all these antics to make them happy and to bring a little humor in their otherwise serious lives; perhaps, he shouldn't have forgotten that so easily.

'oh han! Sorry, toh thik hai Goa ya Manali ka plan bana lete hai agar Shivaay free hai toh?'

'Well! The good thing is that I'll be free from next to next week.'

'Perfect, kyu Dumbell oberoi?'

'Aap logon ka na kuch nahi ho skta mere bina'

The elder brothers were left extremely confused. Since, they agreed so easily, they were expecting an elated Rudy.

'Ye Manali aur Goa ke holidays 80s ke logon ko suit krte hai. We are from the cool 90s toh hamara holiday bhi cool hona chahiye na!'

ShivKara looked at each other and gave out a sigh with Shivaay supporting his back with his left hand.

'Aur ye holiday cool kaise hga?'

"Wo aise, mere superman bhaiya, ki hum log Thailand jaenge!'

'Thailand!!!!'

The exclamation from his brothers was what Rudy expected. This was going to be their first holidaying and he was not letting it be a normal one.

'Tere sapne kuch zyada dur ke nahi hai'

'Cmon O. Aap dono ki life kuch had tak sort hogyi and hum logon ne kbhi holiday bhi nahi kia. Toh agar ab karenge toh aisa hi krenge. After all in girls ko b toh pta chale The Oberoi style of holidaying!!'

'Girls???'

Another expected exclamation from his brothers.

'Haan. Ab Anika di, ishana di aur sumo ko chod kar thori jaenge. Anika aur Ishana di ne kitna kich kia hmare liye. Rahi baat Sumo ki, usse left out nahi feel hona chahiye na. Aur aap donon ko unnko convince krna hai'

'Dekh mai ishana...'

'Aapko Ishana di ko convince krne ko kaun keh raha hai. Aap anika di ko convince karo- wo Shivaay bhaiya se nahi hoga aur Ishana di ko aap convince nahi kar skte toh wo bhaiya karenge!'

Rudy was all set with his plans. The brothers didn't have strong arguments against so they agreed. While the eldest made an irritated face on Rudra mentioning as him not being able to convince Anika, the middle one flinched when he mentioned the same about Ishana.

(Guest house, evening)

'Hi Ishana'

'Shivaay, hey!'

'Of course she least expected him to be there.

(Anika's house, same time)

'Baitho Om. Kuch kaam that oh kal bta dete ya phone kar lete?'

'Umm... Anika... Nahi... wo'

Anika was surprised at Om's hesitation to speak.

(Guest house)

'We are planning for a small trip to Thailand. I mean the three brothers, Anika, Soumya and it would be great to have you.'

(Anika's house)

'Om par Sahil ko chod ke main kaise...'

'Sahil toh teen din mein apne naye boarding school chala hi jaega. Tumhe ekdum se lonely bhi feel nahi hoga.'

(Guest house)

'Wo sab toh thik hai Shivaay, but won't it be great agar tum teen bhai hi jao?'

'Tum logon ne itna kuch kiya hai humare liye. Ek trip toh tumhari bhi banti hai'

The future Oberoi bahus could not say no to their respective brother-in-laws. Exactly as rudra had expected. So, tomorrow evening was the time when Rudra had called all of them for the plan leaving the other four (except Soumya) confused on the need of a discussion. For Shivaay and Ishana, giving ten days for rudy's plan was much more they can ever think of even doing for someone who they loved.

(Next evening, the pool area)

The future middle Oberoi couple still ignored each other or, acted to do so while noticing each other's every move. Om noticed when Ishana came, made a call to someone, her features as they changed from worried to irritated to relaxed- ofcourse, she was planning to finish up all her current engagements before leaving for Thailand. Ishana, while on call, noticed him talking and teasing Shivaay that he needs people to convince his lady and then Shivaay saying something which changed Om's expressions to be grimmer.

How she would have been happy; had the plan to convince been his, but for the matter of fact he knew it was Rudra's. Only if she knew, that he was the one to give her current project details to Shivaay so that he could make good arguments.

How he would have been happy, if she were to come to enjoy with him but he knew for the matter of fact that she couldn't say no to Shivaay. Only if he knew that Shivaay matters, because he matters for her.

And then the future youngest Oberoi couple entered:

'Pehle toh thank you so much to only Anika and Ishana di ki unhone aane ke liye haan kahan.'

'Both the girls looked at each other and then, smiled at Rudra's antics.

'Dekh dumbbell Oberoi jaldi tera plan bta, mujhe ek murti complete krni hai'

'haan haan. Toh people the plan is simple. Hum log ten days Thailand mein rahenge. The plan is: to take three adventure sports and three hobbies to relax after the adventure sport!'

'What the wuck!! Three adventure sports? But agar kisi ko darr lgega ya woh krna nahi ata hoga toh?'

Anika chuckled as Shivaay talked about getting scared, she remembered his antic on the girls v/s boys scaring day (Jiska naam Shivaay ho usse saanp se darr nahi lgta).

'Oho bhaiya!! Training ki zarurat sirf ek ya do sports mein hogi aur wo di jaegi. So please. Yeh great Rudy ka pl.. (he gets nudged by Soumya) I mean yeh great Rudy aur Sumo ka plan hai. Basically hum yahan hai kyunki yahan 5 sports ke options hai aur ye hamari naam ki chits. Jiska naam pehle ayega oh sport decide karega .'

'Arre! Aise toh sirf teen hi logon ko hi apne pasand ka khel khelne milega'

Om gave a teasing look to Shivaay as he facepalmed himself.

'Anika it's...'

'Bhaiya wait. Main samjhati hun. Anika dihum log basketball ya cricket nahi par adventure sport krne wale hai, jaise jungle mein rehna, gufa ke andar jaana etc. jaisa ki Rudra ne hobbies ke liye kaha, so uss ke liye hum three couples mei divided hain- IshKara, Shivika and me and Rudra. Bache hue teen log har couple ke liye hobbies select karenge.'

IshKara made Om and Ishana flinch. They would have to do something together, as if, doing business was not enough.

'O hello!! Mai jungly nahi hun jo jungle mein rahunga.'

'Acha jungle trekking ko kisne option mein daala tab?' She whispered so others don't come to know of the options.

'Ohh acha...'

Anika wanted to interrupt but then...

'Tum logon ka ho gya hot oh let's just choose any three sports and go kyuki meri bhi ek meeting hai. Agar trip pe jana hai toh khtm krni hogi wrna tum log Thailand mei sports enjoy krna, mai office mein hounga.'

"Arre nahi nahi, let's start'

Sahil was called in to pick the chits up. And since, this as the first time he saw people planning trips, he dd everything excitedly.

The first name was of Soumya. She saw the options once again- Sea kayaking, mountain biking, waterfall abseiling, Jungle trekking and caving. Perhaps, sea kayaking was the on ethat could be atleast done sitting. Hence, she chose that.

'Ye kya hota hai billuji'

'Don't call me that!'

'Anika di, saare adventures ke baare mein tab hi samjhayenge waise bhi ab koi eeche nahi hatt skta!'

Perhaps, Rudra was the only person on the earth, his girl would never argue with- thought Shivaay.

Next was Omkara to choose. He was a lover of natural beauty- that was ingrained in him as an artist. He knew that if Rudra had that as an option, they would be camping also atleast for a day. Hence the second adventure was chosen.

'Lastly it was Anika to choose; she just randomly picked waterfall abseiling.

'Tumhe pta bhi hai who kya hota hai?'

'Arre acha lga toh le lia'

'Bhaiya please ap Anika do ko interrupt nahi kar skte. Teeno adventures decide hogye toh ab hobbies bhi decide kar lete hai.'

Again the picking of chits started. First name was of Shivaay.

'Well, do I even need to say. Ofcourse cooking!'

OmRu seemed happiest on his choice. It simply meant that they would be getting best reciepes possible of the Thai ingredients.

'Next was Ishana to choose. She picked up dancing.

'wait Rudra, you said this has to be done in couples? (to which Rudra nodded) How will I do it? Mujhe dance nahi ata hai. I would have gone for Graffiti- thaniland mei kahi kahi its allowed.'

Another angry glare from him. This man can never accept their differences thought she.

'Haan toh Ishana di ko toh ata hai, wo sikha dengi. wo hi toh point hai. kuch naya seekhna for those who didn't choose- be it sports or hobbies'

'Exactly Om, Anika ko bhi khana banana mai sikhaunga, usse kaha ata hai.'

At this Anika's eyes became wide accompanied by opened mouth. The time would show mr. bagad billa who knew how to cook. Om gave out sigh and cursed himself for accepting Rudra's plans without questioning!

Lastly it was Rudra. He grinned at Soumya sheepishly as he chose gymming leaving her facepalm this time. She wished that she had protested when Om was being made to agree to dance. Perhaps, it was too late now. This guy would be the death of her for ten ays was all she knew.

The plan was set. The four elders of the bunch rushed to finish up their chores before leaving for the holiday. The younger called in Khanna to make all arrangements- tickets, visa etc.

Jaa rahe hai 6 singles, ayenge 2 singles and 2 couples, thought Rudra and smiled to himself. Only if he knew that it could be three couples coming back!
