Actually i totally agree with your post. I simply agree with the fact that shivaay needs a jhanvi in his life not a pinky. And anika would totally be a pinky. In real life if we encountered same scenario, Most of us would advise the guy to marry the high class girl since she would obviously fit better in his sociol stature maybe not someone like tia because we know that tia does not exist in real life she is shown as an super dumb girl. Shivaay needs atleast a well educated girl in his life who would understand the complexities of his work and maybe help him out a little to lessen his burden. He does not need another pinky in oberoi manshion. She does not have to be blue blood ,she does not have to be a tia , but thats not an anika either.Deep inside i wanted gul to show anika well eduacted. You know education commands respect in society irrespective of class. She could have shown that anika had some sort of external help like scholarship etc to finance her education. And since all gul leads happen to be miraculously determined and hard working , it would have been easy to show too. Well i know how gul will do it. She will show that shivaay has realised his mistake of judging people on the basis of their blood and has all of sudden given up his rock solid ideas about family and class. well still lets see

Awesome post and thread @napstermonster 👏..!
Thank you for putting so nicely what I also feel. Shivaay is being made a villain because he didn't propose to her. But if he hasn't fallen head long in love , how will he decide that?

You said it right. Mallika would've been perfect for him. A best friend and a khandaani wife. He wouldve been very happy with that. And Never strayed like Tej did. But Mallika wanted more, she wanted to be loved to distraction. Shivaay does not do distraction. He has to be in control always.

He doesn't feel full fledged love yet. This resistance he has over Annika's charms is going to be tested. The threat of losing her, either by distance or to another man is the usual Gul Khan route. When he feels he cannot breathe because she is gone.

He already feels her presence, is incredibly affected by her disillusionment in him. I think he is intrigued that she is so hurt by his decision to ignore the attraction.

Was she happy that I have feelings for her? Does she feel for me too ? Is that why she is so upset? Does she love me?

Whatever he feels for her, he feels as though it is one sided. Like a man taking back his admission of interest when the girl is not interested. Poor chap, he managed to get inebriated twice in her presence and said very unShivaay like things to her.

But when he sees her affected by it, like a sign that she might feel the same way for him... that might be the game changer. If he gets more and more convinced that she does love him. He will get more involved emotionally than now. And she will continue to rebuff him with taunts.

Then comes the issues of aristocrasy. I'm quite sure Shivaay is meant to accept her as she is. We can all understand why he is reluctant but the only factor that can make all the difference here is Shivaay. if he wants her badly enough he can make anything work. The issue is he doesn't want her that badly YET.

Soon enough 😉 ..

I would love to see Shivaay stuck in a place with little luxury, but experience a happiness so pure and honest. That experience will totally change him. (No more jungle escapades or buried alive scenes Gul Khan pls)..

Lovely thread, all comments here were a pleasure to read. ❤️

All I think he needs is just to really fall in love with her. When he falls in love is where things will get interesting. Why?

...Falling in love is what will make him change not only for himself but for her too... He needs to be where Anika is, in terms of not caring what others think or say about her. Labels don't affect or scare her. There are just that... labels.

...So it wouldn't be unrealistic for him change, accept, and love her for the exactly the way she is.

I agree with you, wholeheartedly.

Yes, it's not going to be as easy as clearing a misunderstanding or magically producing blue blooded parents for Anika, but it would be more realistic and not entirely unheard of. I don't think we can equate Anika to Pinky. Pinky obviously comes from a family that the Oberoi's approved of and for Shivaay to go on about khoon, khandaan & parivaar, his mother must have come from acceptable stock 😉. But the woman just has no sense of social niceties or class.

Anika is not like that! Yes she did not go to Cambridge and she does not speak the Queen's English (doesn't speak proper Hindi either 😵) but she carries herself well & knows how to behave with decorum.

Agreed, it will be tough and Shivaay needs to fall real hard for him to overlook her past, but these are not matters that can't be overcome with patience on Shivaay's part, effort on Anika's part & a loads of understanding by both.

Any other easy route would spell disaster for Isqbaaz as a whole.

Honestly I couldn't agree with you more dear. As soon as I saw the episode; where Shivaay looked back at Anika after giving her the cheque I knew that he was different from the Gul heroes in the past. ShivIka's love story is unique because they both are flawed genuine characters; however, they are not bad-hearted people. Many times, I have seen people saying that Gul is recycling her shows love stories; when, that is not necessarily true. In reality many people would react like Shivaay does; when, talking to Anika because that's how he has been raised and it's the same in Anika's situation. Neither of them are perfect, which makes their love story even more enjoyable to watch and it's not forced unlike some of Gul's previous shows. The "crimes" which Shivaay has committed are not evil or diabolical and he has started to regret his actions. It is evident in his eyes that he wants to fix all the mistakes he has made. Additionally, that are falling in love THEMSELVES not because of an awkward situation making their love more realistic and beautiful to watch.

I really really think Pinky and Anika can't be compared. Frankly it wouldn't be fair for Anika. Pinky and Shakti had an arranged loveless marriage and Pinky had none of the fiery spirit that Anika has; she accepts the status quo and tries desperately to fit into high class society (and fails classically).
I feel as many pointed out that it is Anika's EDUCATION and her refusal to accept the status quo that sets her apart from Pinky. You see, Anika WORKS HARD and she respects herself and this latter point is what makes her despite the whole incompatibility with Shivaay, perfect for him. Worthy of him (word used in the most ironic sense).
Jhanvi clearly didn't work out for Tej; if Shivaay ended up with a Jhanvi he would have not only have a loveless marriage, but the power imbalance between him and his wife would stretch on for miles- he'd get a fantastic ego boost (NOT SOMETHING HE NEEDS!) and never realise his shortcomings and the sad reality of his sad life. I meant that.
I guess this ultimately shows love conquers all and love is all we need as clichd as that sounds!
The point being: Anika is perfect. She carries her 'low class' status with style and the fact that this is an oxymoron proves it!
Love, love the comments here! I'm having a hard time believing an Indian drama can be analysed to death like this!

I really like the way you have analysed the issues. It makes me want to stay on the bandwagon and watch this latest of Gul Khans offering. I am a total fan of the heady combination of Arnav and Khushi ...and the actors playing the roles ...lets see how this pans out!
Great analysis again. By the way I love your stories.

If he leaves Oberoi Mansion as a whole, he will only have Anika and the 2 Obros to turn to. He will learn what the rest of the world knows and what Anika represents--- "Meri pehchaan, mera wajood sab meri mehnat ki wajah se hai." Her hard work beats his accident of birth, every time, and he will know this through living without one, and in need of the other...

He will leave his golden palace and his many gold bars only because the Harishchandra in his family has left. If Omkara cannot stay (deep dark secret) and chooses to leave everything behind, Ram will follow Lakshman and Bharat will go along- Shivaay might not want/need to leave, but he wont let his brothers face things alone.

This is the problem--this "how the other half live" track, cannot possibly come in time for the Anika Shivay marriage to be a marriage of equals. Shivaay will learn her value after marriage, through this track, and after a LOT of pain for the girl. Later, his changing beliefs and her rising value will be a result of him learning life lessons as he eats aloo puri while living in Sahil's chawl house.

This realization of his woman's true worth, and his own mistakes is a far-in-the future track, AND WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO A SHIVIKA LOVE STORY, with misunder standings, unintentional cruelties and insults galore waiting for the FL. Oy vey. Comments?

@ Red- Alternatively is there a chance that this can come before marriage ? A vanvaas track interrupting the journey towards acceptance of one without the desired Khaandan and upbringing where Shivaay learns life's lessons in a world which Anika has the upper hand in negotiating?

Awesome thread and lovely replies .⭐️

Hi there,

First of all, thank you so very much for saying everything you did! Everything you said went right down to the core of this ShivIka love story and is one of the main reason that I adore it!
And yes, I am worried at time about the points you mentioned even though they are the very reason due to which I absolutely love these two.

Essentially, this is a story of two independent, confident and self-reliant individuals. They are quiet similar to one another at the core of it but stand on opposite sides of a line - a line made by fate and the circumstances of their birth. What makes the situation interesting and complicated is that they are both equally right! However many of us hate Shivaay's khoon khaandaan speech, he is not wrong. A man of his stature, his status requires a wife who is adapt at handling it all. Social image means nothing to Anika - and I am proud of her for that - but for Shivaay, its essentially his bread and butter. Empires are made on these very images that we all tend to deny and love to defy.

But I guess that's where the love and partnership between two people come in. I am a follower of an ongoing literary series which has somewhat of a similar plot to it. A famous billionaire falls in love with a crude, crass cop who is literally the opposite of everything he could ever require in a wife. But she is the one he yearns for, and so defying society, he goes after her and marries her - even when she warns him against it! The series follows the aftermath of the wedding.
What I love about it most that these two characters are still mostly the way they were before they met. The heroine is still crass most of the time - its her job, she's a cop! - but she has also developed this veneer of polish lets say for the lack of a better word. She is still inept at small talk and socially awkward but she tries to balance that because first, she loves him and second, because he rarely ever asks her to. And the hero, well, he is less highhanded than he used to be, but not once did he ask or demand her to become something that she isn't. He loves her for what she is and never once has he rubbed it in her face that she is a less than perfect wife for a man like him. The essence of their bond was the fact that they never asked the other to change, instead they accepted one another they way they are and simply tried their best to live together without smothering each other. And over the years I have seen that relationship built. I have seen it evolve to what it has become - an equal partnership between two strong individuals. This is what I have learned the most from the two of them: that love takes a hell of a lot of work, but it can work if you want it to!

I see the potential of such an evolution between ShivIka but I also understand that its very hard to do so. Such a story requires a lot of balance - balance between love and society, freedom and exercise of power, and most importantly, between female empowerment and male self-respect, This is the crux of the conundrum that I think GK faces. Because honestly, I am not sure this can be portrayed realistically on television. Its going to require a lot of not only amazing writing but also focus - which given the number of characters Ishqbaaz has is a really difficult task to achieve.

So yes, I maybe an optimist, but I am what my mother calls the realistic-optimist! So I might be hoping for the best here, but I am also aware that the chances of things happening that way are very low. Hence I guess all we can do is watch and love the show until we can bear it no more and then cut out losses and move on! But until that happens, I am going to enjoy the joy ride that ShivIka is right now and write a lot of fanfiction to settle my frustrations!

Love,
A.C.

👏 you seem to have solved the problem, now to wait and watch if GK & her bevy of creative writers are willing to go the distance
